  1. I'm rocking a ball-glove t-shirt at the library today. I have an eye exam in a few hours and will talk baseball with the eye doctor. Then if he dilates my pupils, I'll have no choice but to stay home the rest of the day. But if he doesn't, I do need to return to the library (and Gameday), as I am taking next week off for the start of the home season. Life in the fast lane!
  2. The baseball season begins in less than 24 hours! It's kind of like Christmas Eve. Not everything's baseball? Yes, it is!
  3. This almost looks like an April Fool headline, but I'm delighted to see that it's true.
  4. Pavlovian response: http://static.tvfanatic.com/images/gallery/whacking-day-picture.jpg
  5. Uecker spent part of this game talking to Casey McGehee's son Mack in the radio booth. It's worth a listen if you have Gameday Audio. Mack does a pretty good "Nice. REAL nice!"
  6. The West Michigan Whitecaps recently announced the winner of their menu item contest. I'm not expecting this to be well received at bf.net.
  7. Following up on something we talked about last night - the West Michigan Whitecaps' food item poll: All the entries News release announcing the winner
  8. Per the Washington Post in 2009, he's also been called Tony Blush, and his DJ name is "DJ Nij-Nnn-Nnn-Nnn-Nice."He has also named his car Charlene. From Diego to Tony Plush/Blush/DJ Nij-Nnn-Nnn-Nnn-Nice. We live in interesting times.
  9. An avatar costume party - now there's an idea. I think I can pose as a silhouette, and I'd enjoy seeing many of the avatars here brought to life. Would that it could be a championship celebration party. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif jjkoestler, I'm sorry for your loss. We had eleven turn out for a fun evening of food, drink and talk. The Great Dane set us up for a table of 12, which allowed for an empty chair for jjkoestler, Nottso, or anyone who wished they could be here. Thanks to everyone who came, with a special hat tip to jjkoestler and Invader3K for getting us to think about a 2011 meeting, and for making it happen.
  10. But he's going to keep facing "other teams" with the Brewers as he did with the Nats. Unfortunately, the only way to find out that his anger problems of last fall aren't past him is the hard way. In this case I side more with OWBC's wariness than cheesecup22's relative optimism. Nyjer did always seem to be good for an ill-timed double or triple vs. the Brewers, so at least that threat is eliminated, for now.
  11. Not killing people from behind the wheel is certainly the choice I would make. Sorry to hear it, thanks for letting us know, and I hope sleep comes soon. We're headed 'way over to Fitchburg momentarily ourselves.
  12. Nyjer had multiple anger/fight/brawling episodes toward the end of last season (memory lane link). I could see him being a "giveaway" candidate, but am not fully sold on the Brewers taking him.
  13. OK, I'm not sensing a local sporting event conflict on Saturday night anymore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif See y'all then.
  14. I got sleeted on while waiting for a bus after work yesterday. That was special, but I realize it could have been much worse. pitchleague: It is girls' basketball tournament week (starting this afternoon), so even though Madison got only the most glancing of blows, I think we can count this as a traditional WIAA tourney storm.
  15. Yeah, I mentioned this in an earlier post. I'd hate to go to a lot of effort seeking out a Plan B only to have Butler win Thursday (and we won't know whether it's even a factor until late Thursday - thanks, TV schedule). It looks like the game broadcast times for Saturday are about 3:20 and 5:40, and they'll surely wait to decide who plays when until the participants are known (so no word until late Thursday/early Friday). Plus any Madison-area sports venue worth its salt would probably be as packed as any Great Dane during a UW Elite Eight game. Having said that, if anyone has plan B type venues in mind, feel free to share them here. Our last Madison-area winter meeting was at Pooley's on the northeast side, though they too will be all about the Badgers if they play on Saturday. Pooley's is at least quite a large place. We've got a new HDTV at our house, but our living room isn't very big. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif Bottom line is, I think we just have to see how Thursday plays out.
  16. Fixed that for you, bensheeps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But seriously, I agree that the Fitchburg Great Dane would be fine even without a private room. If the Badgers are still playing by Saturday, most any place with a decent sports vibe will be rocking. But now that I've typed that sentence, I've probably just propelled Butler into the Elite Eight.
  17. The UW women claimed their fourth national championship Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Boston University. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. You've got it backwards. I'll record hoops while I watch the game.I'm using the Brewers as my break from hoops. WIAA D-3 is in progress and I don't need to see Racine St. Catherine's plow over someone again. (Apologies if there are any Angels alumni in the Brewerfan audience.) Bad uniform-number mojo going on this season. Not only did the Brewers saddle Yuni with the ex-Yost number 3, but Wil Nieves has Carne Estrada's 33 to overcome.
  19. I'm delighted to see Mark DiFelice pitching again.
  20. Yet he put the ball where Ichiro! couldn't get it. Sorry, Tom Wilhelmson.
  21. Charter is taunting me extra by showing "Brewers vs. Mariners" on the channel guide when FSN can't let go of the Bucks. :| Don't forget one more Menards commercial before you switch! Edit: Five seconds of Brewers before another commercial break. Stop the madness! Start the game broadcast!
  22. Our tickets arrived today - both 20-packs in one box, which I guess saves them on postage (fine) but also meant we only got one media guide voucher, when in past years we got one of each perk with each pack. Still, tickets! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Charter just added TruTV HD to its lineup and says it will be available by Thursday. I don't know if that's just for the duration of the tournament or not.
