  1. Apparently that pinch-hit HR was Matt Stairs' 21st of his career, which is a MLB record.
  2. Giving up on him would be trading or releasing him too soon. AAA seems more like an investment in his and the Brewers' futures.
  3. That'd be for Cappy's win! Nice work by the home team.
  4. I don't know if it makes you crazy. No one knows what works better for you than you do.
  5. One of my Facebook friends is at this game, and his status before the game spoke of finally being able to see a "real pitcher" tonight instead of such has-beens as Sharpie, Suck-pan, "Crappy" and Wolf. Needless to say, I'm hoping Chris can keep things in check. Edit: And with Cappy in for more of the game than Yo was, I'll be looking for a creative reply to that Facebook status.
  6. Lucroy is my boy, or one of my boys at least. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Yuku seems incapable of showing it, but the chat room is occupied, and is finally working for me. Just saying.
  8. The Madison Mini Marathon is scheduled for Saturday morning, starting and finishing outside the library where I work. To accommodate it, there will be a bunch of temporary street closures, including both streets of the intersection where our building sits. I thought it would be a kindness to send a list of the street closures from the marathon website to the librarian scheduled to work on Saturday - since she has been out of town for the last few weeks and thus might not have known about it. Now she has sent me an email asking how she is supposed to get to work. This person is not my employee; I sent it only as a useful heads-up. Apparently no good deed goes unpunished.
  9. You might have been thinking of the "what is it worth" collectible thread in the Trading Post. My mother likes to cruise rummage sales and is always on the lookout for Brewers stuff for me. However, her hauls have been less the last few years. My theory is that the Brewers' recent uptick in popularity translates into more people hanging on to their memorabilia - in the south central counties, at least. I can't help you with where to have a hat spiffed up. But that piece of the park is pretty neat.
  10. The New York Times had a feature on Uecker recently. As if his cardiac woes weren't enough this year, he had 3/4 of his pancreas removed in January and now needs insulin shots.
  11. If your daughter likes the Brewers, maybe try to fit in a Miller Park tour as well as a game if the schedule allows?
  12. The Pirates lost their 81st game tonight. Time to start the rally to .500!
  13. I didn't realize that "drop-kick dogs" was a common enough phrase to make Urban Dictionary, until just now. Someone I work with likes to call very small dogs either drop-kick dogs, or breakfast dogs.
  14. Well, thank goodness. I hope bensheeps and family had a happy experience from start to finish, minus that chunk of the 9th.
  15. He seems like more of a "club" guy than a "bar" guy. Now I'm afraid to look at Gameday.
  16. I didn't realize it was a day game until last night, myself; and I've had access to the 2010 schedule for almost 11 months now!And here I've been doing work and not realizing how deep in the game Randy got. Nice work, Woof. The rest of you, don't mess it up.
  17. Those of you in the chat room (or reportedly so) might want to count your blessings. I'm stuck in the "wrong password" loop. For now I'll take this as a sign that the baseball gods want me to get some non-Brewers work done. Thanks, gods.
  18. Because a two-game series bordered by two off days wasn't weird enough. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Oh, that is it. I'm among the portion of the bf.net community who remember 1982 well enough to, well, not forget it. In recent years I've actually become more incensed by the tales we've heard of their sanctimonious fanbase, egged on to some degree by their sanctimonious media. Still, I have pondered at times giving "STL nation" the benefit of the doubt. I know the bensheeps family and was specifically prepared to set aside some of my bad blood if they reported a good experience at Busch. I understand this was just one fan, but if they are going to pick on the likes of bensheeps' little girl, they have utterly lost their chance to redeem themselves with me.
  20. In the chat, monty57 reported a preliminary text result with Braun leading with 40% of the vote, Corey 30%, and either Casey 20/Rickie 10 or Rickie 20/Casey 10. So, probably 10 votes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Come on, John. Don't let the bensheeps party down!
  21. Did the STL fans actually participate in a wave earlier tonight? And would that mean the wave became classy?
