  1. You might...though part of me hopes the SSHs who have held that status longer than the last month would get first crack.
  2. I'm considering this, as I live in Utah, but would come for the WS and don't really feel like this is a game I want play (ie, captcha clicks, guesswork, getting lucky, etc.). If I buy 1 terrace reserve though as a SSH for 2019, am I only eligible for 1 WS seat for 1 game? I would guess 1 SSH seat = 1 postseason seat. Keep in mind that any World Series games would likely have diminished ticket availability, compared to the DS and CS rounds. Think of the 2002 all-star "game," when much if not all of the field bleachers were taken up by extra media. Stuff like that would if anything be more of a factor for a WS game.
  3. This reminds me of the West Towne Penney's in Madison, which in April 2018 had these shirseys available: Braun (okay) Lucroy Gomez Segura And one Axford. The last time we were there (September 27), the SO could find no Brewers merchandise at all while I got my haircut. Can't give up any of that valuable Packers/Badgers space. The West Towne Kohl's had a little more merchandise, including some postseason gear, on Sunday, but it was a lot less than I remember seeing there in 2008 and 2011.
  4. I'm late to this particular party, but I'm suddenly in the mood for frosty chocolate milkshakes. Maybe with a grilled cheese sandwich.
  5. On Thursday and Friday I had a lot of fun. Our postseason seats are great, my stress level was pretty low since they were "only" the first and second games...and while Josh's comments above about not making it about the other team are totally on point, having a non-divisional opponent in the NLDS is OH SO MUCH nicer than it would have been to endure a CHC fan invasion. Maybe the CHC-MIL fan ratio wouldn't have been as whacked out for the playoffs as during the regular season, but I am very grateful that we are not finding out this month. The games that weighed most heavily on me down the stretch were the STL and CHC games, including game 163. Those games always bug me more because of the opponent/opponent's fans. So it was more the competition than anything else. If I'm not at the ballpark, I usually listen instead of watch because it's easier for me to multitask and staying busy keeps me less nervous. During Monday's game 163 I cleared out/straightened up a junk drawer. Pretty soon I'll be putting away laundry. (I also managed to snag a foul ball Thursday night, in about the least rigorous way possible. It was Braun's foul in the 8th and sailed up the stairs between sections 215-216 just as I was returning from the restroom. It rolled around by the press box side door and came to a stop under the press box usher's stool at the top of those stairs. So I only had to kneel and pick it up.)
  6. After that GS, I got up from my seat in the loge and walked straight to the team store to buy a Schoop shirsey. It was that kind of moment. I also got a Yelich shirsey, which is uncommon for me because I usually gravitate toward the non-biggest names (figuring they get enough shirsey/jersey love already). It's my personal testament to the season Christian has had.
  7. Yeah, Badger Bus actually boards across the street from my library. They definitely go to MKE, though I don't know where they stop. Goerke's Corners at least, I believe. Trust the link above over me.
  8. It's a bit easier to forget about Brent Suter actually being on the field instead of a clubhouse motivator, but DUDE HIT A NOT CHEAP DINGER OFF COREY KLUBER on May 8. He also had his fair share of web gems: https://www.mlb.com/news/brent-suter-rolls-dives-to-tag-alex-gordon/c-283183070
  9. This. We almost didn't go because of how much it snowed that night, and I had a cold on top of it. But it was worth it. Also on my list: 15-inning game vs. Pittsburgh on August 24. Yes, being the home team gave the Brewers an advantage, but look how utterly implausible the ending was. Jordan Lyles, people. Thames walkoff vs the Rockies on August 3. Not as implausible, just dang cool. Nate Orf's July 4 home run. We were at home for the Jesus 13-pitch AB, but from my couch I remember thinking "He can do this. We just have to be patient." Then pitch 13 came and I laughed and laughed with joy. I'm sure I'll think of more over time.
  10. As mentioned above, Field Infield Box, but also a terrible acronym when CHC fans visit.
  11. 38, 39 and 40 for the hawing household. I'm laughing at the notion that I'm somehow supposed to pay attention to the library between now and Friday afternoon.
  12. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/christian-yelich-brewers-playoffs If this does not quicken your pulse, you must not care about the Brewers. I just want it to be 7:10 Friday RIGHT. NOW.
  13. BSC, if/when you get that family history completed, I hope you will consider making a copy for the Historical Society Library (disclaimer: my employer). We receive such donations from all over the country, make them available to a wider audience for posterity's sake, and take good care of our collections. Let me know if you become interested in doing that. Thanks and good luck!
  14. More to save myself extra typing than to toot my own horn, I made a thread about this game on Twitter, in case you're interested to see more of my memories:
  15. ...that this happened. And there's a new/newly restored video clip with WGN commentary! God bless Brant Brown. And frankly, I'm a little nostalgic for the days when the Cubs visiting Milwaukee didn't mean obnoxious fans in every bloody corner of the Brewers' park. This game did not include that animosity, at least not where we sat (in the RF lower grandstand).
  16. A ziploc bag is see-through, though, so maybe that's okay/more okay if the screener can see the contents. It probably depends on the screener as well.
  17. I'd lean toward authenticity, and stick to the medal that you know was issued to your grandfather. (Disclaimer: I work in a history organization and that is what we would generally do.) If you have a photo of him with all the medals he had, that would be a reasonable accompaniment to the lone known-to-be-surviving medal. Having said that, I don't think it would be an ethical sin to purchase similar medals issued to others, as long as you make sure people realize they aren't the pieces your grandfather owned. If medal replacement from the military is workable, that'd be the better option. As an aside, the komando dot com link above is the first time I've even seen Kim Komando. She looks a lot like my mental picture of her.
  18. A squirrel got into our basement once (the family home, when I was a young teenager), through an old oil tank - from when that house was oil heated. I don't remember how it got caught. Props to my mom, though, since by then she was the only grownup in the house and I don't know how she managed without freaking out.
  19. I managed to miss most of the TV coverage on 9/11/2001. Any useful news site on the internet was overwhelmed quickly as the story unfolded; there aren't TVs in the library, and I had a dental appointment over the lunch hour. I caught a lot of radio coverage, but it lacked the impact (apologies for the word choice) of the visual coverage. By evening there was still tons of coverage, but not the live reactions of news people to folks jumping out of windows and the like. My mom usually had her VCR ready to record various programs over the course of a weekday, and of course they were all pre-empted that day. So she recorded hours of live TV coverage - possibly multiple networks' worth. I have the tapes (and still have a working VCR), but I've yet to bring myself to watch them. I was haunted enough by the attacks without the visuals, and I don't know what's a good time to invite that degree of anxiety and sadness into my life again.
  20. The 2018 postseason/2019 renewal materials for this year's SSHs indicates an extra cost of $35 to get hard-copy tickets for either the 2018 postseason or 2019 season. We opted for hard tickets for 2019 because, like Paul77, I have a stub from almost every Brewers game I've attended (going back to 1983) and I am not ready to let go of that particular tradition yet. However, we did opt for electronically delivered tickets for the 2018 postseason - in part because when we made the deposit, the Brewers had just lost and I was back to thinking OH NO WAY WILL THEY MAKE IT ANYWAY. (Which is indicative of my recent mild and not clinical manic depression.) Since our SSH account is all in my SO's name, I wonder if he and I (and whatever guests join us) will have to enter together and make sure he doesn't leave his dang phone at home. (I have my own MLB dot com login, but it's not connected to the ticket account.) I'd like to think MLB would have a workaround for that, but there are many things I'd think MLB would do or be prepared for that they...don't or aren't.
  21. Yes. He and his wife were here for at least the first two home games of the season, the second of which was the Yelich-Braun back to back jacks. I think he still retains the seats.
  22. In 2011? That seems really unlikely. That was an elimination game on a Friday night. I cannot imagine them being that low if that were to happen again, granted the fees and such make $40 about $58. I can't recall exactly, but I'm pretty sure Game 1 and 2 that I attended and sat in the terrace were about $50. 2011 Game 5 started late on a Friday afternoon. That eliminated any of my family joining us with our two extra tickets because of K-12 school (my family includes both students and teachers). We actually didn't find a taker for that pair until the day before, and it wasn't due to lack of interest. (Part of the issue for us is also our relative distance from Milwaukee.) A few FWIWs... Season seat holders had until Thursday 9/6 to lock in for the postseason, so Friday was the Brewers' first opportunity to see how much SSH interest there is. If there are 2018 postseason games at Miller Park, the hawing party will have two extra tickets. You'd have to sit with SO and me, though, and (if you don't live in Madison) find your own way to MP.
  23. When the obnoxious traveling subgroup of the CHC fanbase visited Miller Park in April 2017, I remember thinking almost precisely this. I might have even posted about it on Brewerfan somewhere. Their team was less than six months beyond their WS victory, and looked to be very well positioned for continued success. Virtually EVERYTHING was coming up Cubs. Yet they were gripey sourpusses throughout and after the game. Come on.
