  1. Cory Provus just said there'll be news on Manny after the commercial break. I suppose that would be it.
  2. I'd like to point out that Doug Davis always seemed to pitch well when I was in attendance. However, even I am far from convinced that he'd be the answer.
  3. Shutout gone. Yay. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif Actually, I'm surprised by Bob's statement (which I verified) that had the Brewers not scored today, it would have been only their second shutout of the year. Given the hitting woes, you'd think it would have happened more than once.
  4. I wonder which Brewers will show up on Sunday. Needless to say, I'd rather see Friday's team. Edit: I know it's technically correct, but calling Scott Linebrink "the former Brewer" seems to imply more about his stint with the Brewers than is really warranted.
  5. Well, even via Gameday this is painful to behold. I fear that Manny can't put things together without organizational help - some kind of change to his role.
  6. I'm moderately surprised that FOX would even consider an alternate game if the primary choice is Mets-Yankees. Come on, Manny. We know there's a good pitcher inside you. Let him out.
  7. http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2009/06/12/mlbf_5020045_th_13.jpg Call me silly, but I'd think twice before labeling an injury as "breaking news" (in the sense that some freaked out fans might think it was a broken ankle).
  8. Russell has been my only vote on any AL ballot this season.
  9. I did remember to look for the response I received from the Brewers regarding roof decisions. This is from 2004 (though, ironically, it deals with cool temperatures in June), so the organization's stance may have changed in the last five years: The sender in 2004 was Steve Ethier, then the vice president for Miller Park operations. AJAY, I don't mean to restart a tangent; I was just aiming to tie up a loose end.
  10. That fangraph does inspire shock and awe. Bugs and Cranks has a clip. The booing cub fan at 00:30 looks pretty ugly, but if any play justified the ugly boo, this might have been it. May this not happen to a Brewer anytime soon.
  11. I love that googling "brant brown play" gets 359 results. "Brant Brown game" gets 2240 results.
  12. I'd say Suppan's hit and Corey's sweet catch were the co-keys. Ah, this is a nice salve for that Rockies series. davego, hope you liked it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Yep - it was for a limited time and there was a limit to how many tickets you could buy, but the opportunity was there.
  14. Yes, his shirt said Pennywise. Based on my mad googling skillz, I assume that's for the band? Also, hah on Podsednik. Hah!
  15. Stop the madness! Start the hitting! (and by "hitting" I mean Brewers offense - not Suppan hitting batters with pitches or a bench clearing brawl)
  16. I can't imagine why SD would say, "Hey, Milwaukee, you already have our legendary closer - why not take the other closer too?"
  17. It depends on what you value. If you consider it a perk to lock in your seat location and game dates in advance, then being a season ticket holder and committing to X number of tickets up front is worthwhile. If you are confident that the Brewers will make the postseason and don't want to scramble for tickets, being a season ticket holder comes in handy. If you place a higher value on, say, getting the best possible price for every game they attend (and don't mind a lot of those games being during the week and/or vs. lower profile opponents), you might be better off waiting for the plethora of discounts the Brewers offer. Some of those discounts are greater than those offered to season ticket holders. Some of the more tangible perks are of finite value to parts of the season ticket audience. This year's Metavante Club passes are only handy to fans who like the Metavante Club (the player meet of 2008 was about 1000 times cooler for me). Attending a season ticket holder luncheon would require a full day off work for us, so we've never done it. I love the free media guide, but if they didn't provide it I would probably still buy one. I don't know how the Brewers' perks compare to those of other MLB clubs, but now I'm mildly interested to poke around and find out.
  18. 217 represent! Though we sit toward the back, and while we can hear the hum of the AC in the press area, I can't say I've ever felt cooled off by it. The other perks listed by Legacy25GT are pretty much on target.
  19. Perhaps by now, Doug is just messing with us 'freakin' internet geeks' by making this take longer.
  20. Behold the stink-eye, ye scurvy dog pirates!http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/kellewat/stinkeye.jpg I like the way you conveniently don't mention that this is an internal battle in the NMF household. Edit: Sorry, NMF.
  21. It's harder if you dress in a tank, shorts and flip flops. I don't know if people expect the roof to be closed, or just expect the air to be warmer because it's spring, but I've been surprised at how often I've seen fans dressed for hot weather at MP, when it's just not hot.
  22. 65 degrees seems like a reasonable cutoff, though wind conditions should be factored in as well. On both May 25 and May 31 it looked as though the "sun" seats were toasty warm, while the "shade" seats were quite chilly, and the wind played a big part of that both days. (Another factor, as noted elsewhere in this thread, is the number of people who wear tank tops/shorts/sandals to games when the weather is just not warm enough to support a summer outfit.) After a history of learning experiences in County Stadium, we now take the approach of dressing for at least 15 degrees cooler than it is in Madison at the time we leave. We check the NWS conditions in Milwaukee (temperature, wind direction and wind speed). So we are often overdressed for the car ride over, but once we're in the park we're fine. Just as with County, even the parking lot conditions are often different than those inside the park. I wrote to the Brewers once, in the early years of MP, about how they make the roof decisions. I have the reply at home and will try to remember to post it once I am there. I think they put the cutoff at 60 degrees then, and my question was asked in the context of night games. And to keep this sort-of on the topic of the lead post...I think I'd rather not see curtains. This is easier for me to say since we rarely have third-base-side seats.
  23. The CC thread reached 1516 posts and more than 101,000 views in its two-week-plus heyday.
  24. They scored 11, 10, 7 and 5 runs vs. STL. Coming into the series, I was concerned that they might keep up that offensive barrage...and at least they didn't combine effective pitching with overpowering offense.
