  1. I think I'm in serious code red danger here. Ah, ccbrew, you don't want to know what's in the red gumballs.
  2. I've never met anyone who never tried coffee - just a bunch who tried it and hated it. I was repelled by the smell of coffee when I was a kid, and that went a long way toward my not even developing a curiosity. Maybe my parents just brewed crappy coffee, but such is the power of early formative experiences. Plus even modest amounts of caffeine (like in soft drinks) get me uncomfortably wired - so I decided early on that coffee wasn't for me. I ordered hot chocolate at a cafe once and was served a large mug of something that turned out to have coffee in it. But I wouldn't call that "trying" coffee, as my intent was to have something else.
  3. Wow, this is more response than I expected! Since I now need a scorecard to keep track of who's got what, I'll get back to y'all this weekend.
  4. Wow. Of those ten expenses, the only one I routinely absorb is lunch "out" - though I don't spend $9.00 a day on it. That and (I guess) my beloved Vitamin Water - though I buy it at Woodman's, where it's least expensive. Though even the convenience store price is comparable to coffee, and definitely cheaper than alcohol. We wash our car periodically, but we've never had a car detailed, nor would we likely do so every other month. Pogo goes for the Jelly Belly jelly beans, right? http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tongue.gif
  5. Somehow, despite only attending two Friday games this season, I have managed to acquire all of the 1982 player bobbleheads, except Charlie Moore. I'd prefer to trade for this. Here are my duplicates. They are all "standard" bobbles (white or pinstripe uniforms instead of alternates). 2007 Bill Hall (2 of these) 2007 Rickie Weeks 2007 Braves nesting doll set In a separate thread, I also have a list of extra issues of 2007 Gameday programs, in case that leads to a suitable trade. Please send me an inbox message if you have a trade to propose. Thanks. (Edited to update inventory)
  6. Thanks to several helpful posters, I now have a complete set of 2007 Gameday programs for myself. I still have duplicates of the following 2007 Gamedays: Issue 2 (2 copies) - Juan Nieves on the cover Issue 3 (1) - Bill Hall Issue 6 (1) - Ted Simmons Issue 7 (1) - Davey Nelson Issue 8 (1) - Johnny Estrada Issue 9 (1) - Claudio Vargas Issue 10 (2) - Harvey Kuenn Issue 14 (1) - Ben Oglivie Issue 17 (1) - Paul Molitor Issue 19 (2) - Gorman Thomas Issue 20 (1) - Don Sutton Issue 21 (1) - Corey Hart Issue 24 (1) - Damian Miller & Craig Counsell Issue 26 (2) - "Thank you fans" If you're interested in any of the extras I've listed above, please send me an inbox message. Thanks. (edited 10/26 to update inventory)
  7. Am I the only one who can't stand listening to people eat like slobs? I'll say "no" - a recent related peeve of mine has been this woman who rides on the bus we take in to work. Her gum chewing is very much like a cow chewing its cud. Please. Close your mouth when you chew gum.
  8. edit: the shortened version of "Richard" is bad? I'm going to assume its ok when referring to a person's name. Brewerfan staff don't consider it to be "bad" (when used as you intended), but Yuku filters it automatically because of that other potential use. 1992casey has his finger more on the pulse of this issue than I do, but a forthcoming tweak of the software is supposed to give individual forums more control over language filters. We are all looking forward to that tweak.
  9. People who hold in their sneezes. The opposite extreme also bugs me: people who let loose almost theatrically with their sneezes. A former employee at my workplace is renowned professionally, but infamous in my office for sneezing so audibly that we could hear it clearly from over 100 feet away. Seriously. This person has a type A+ extroverted personality. I've always suspected that's part of the reason behind the extremely loud sneezes.
  10. Way to stay classy. I think if I were Joe Torre I'd consider termination a sweet release. I'll bet Bruce Froemming won't umpire any NYY games, starting in 2008. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  11. D-Lee, fighting...couldn't land his girlie punches Don't give Ryan Dempster...the ba-aa-ll.... Those are the lines I like best. If I didn't need sleep, I could watch this all night.
  12. It bugged me just slightly, in a bad karma kind of way, that this thread was on 911 replies. So I decided to make what should be post 912.
  13. Looks like Brady's routes in CF a la Billy from "Family Circus" were just a little too much for SD to take But Mom! I went straight to where I thought the ball would land! http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif
  14. I was expecting an increase in ticket prices, I guess, based on this year's ticket sales and (it seems) reawakened interest in the Brewers. Therefore, I was surprised to find that the season ticket holder price for terrace box has still not changed since we started sitting there in 2002 (though we do have to commit two months sooner than in the past, in order to get that same price). I continue to believe that TB is a reasonably priced seating option. The height is a drag sometimes, but I like the view. Our only blind spot is the right field corner, which holds for a lot of pricier seats as well. I'm frugal by nature, but I'm content where we are, and I don't feel like the pricing schedule has us out of options.
  15. Looks like the Cubs fans have invaded Arizona. How irritating for those poor AZ fans. Does this happen everywhere? only to a greater degree in Milwaukee due to proximity?
  16. The BP thing was/is for full season seat holders who paid in full by an extra early date. For a few years, partial season seat holders could play catch in the outfield if they renewed by the extra early date - which we did once and found reasonably interesting. It was a hot day when we went, and before the end of our alloted time, we started exploring as much of the park as they'd let us. Somewhere I have a picture of me using the Brewers' dugout phone to call the bullpen. I imagined myself being Ned Yost calling for a replacement for Doug Davis. Yes, I am a nerd among Brewer nerds. Given the knowledge level on this website, at least some of the rest of you probably knew that as soon as you pick up the dugout phone handset, the bullpen phone rings. I was surprised to find this out, but stayed on the line long enough for my picture to be taken. I also used the Brewers bullpen bathroom, just so I could say I did. It had unisex signage, so I figured it was OK. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif But I digress. One episode of playing catch at MP was enough for us, and I hope the 'exclusive' gift is something else.
  17. Yeah. I noticed a bit of an upswing in cubs merchandise worn around campus this week. Yesterday I saw a guy with a cubs player tee on in the Union. It made me grumble a little until I saw that it was a Kerry Wood shirt - which may not bring them the best possible mojo anyway.
  18. I would not count on an automatic refund. Season ticket holders have the option of applying the charge toward 2008 tickets. The Brewers are scheduled to send 2008 renewal information out next week (week of October 8), and based on my interpretation of the letter they sent about a week before the '07 season ended, season ticket holders who want all postseason money refunded will have to specifically request it. (I do not have the letter on hand at this time.) If you were able to order playoff tickets without being a season ticket holder, the terms may be different, but I would not expect anyone to get an automatic refund.
  19. It'll be fun to watch Doug Davis go in game 2 against the Cubs. Ohhhhh, you don't have to tell me that. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif I'll be wearing my Davis Brewers jersey and root root rooting for the Sharpie (and the home team). I'm not sure how late I'll have to stay up. On one hand, Doug's been out of his starts by the 5th or 6th innings a lot this season. On the other hand, it's the postseason, which is bound to feature more commercials and delays; and Doug can make 5-6 innings take a while regardless of ad time.
  20. The Brewers said that season ticket renewal information would be mailed out the week of October 8. Presumably at least a tentative schedule will be included in that information.
  21. I'm standing for Lyle. That's the first thing I thought of upon reading that Toronto is coming here. Maybe I'll put a big bandaid on my chin for a half inning or so. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif (Is he likely to return to the Jays?) It sounds like the Brewers have at least a tentative schedule for '08 now; and they've told season ticket holders to expect 2008 renewal information within about 10 days of the end of the 2007 season. In 2005 they released the 2006 schedule at fan appreciation night, and last year they handed out those '07 schedule magnets the last home weekend. Of course, at the moment they've got other distractions.
  22. Yeah, the SO was remarking today on how Shea was probably not a super comfortable place for anyone to be today.
  23. I'm often a little teary as each season comes to a close, but the sendoff for Geoff had me welling up a bit earlier than I expected. I'll join in the well-wishing chorus. Edit: I'll add a couple of favorite Jenkins moments. One was his walkoff hit to beat Bob Wickman and the Indians in the 2006 Fan Fest game. (I admit, as hopeful as I was, while standing and clapping with the rest of you that night, I was thinking "probably GIDP". Sorry, Geoff.) The other is this: http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/photographer/66/6661_large.jpg
  24. We have that game on here in the hotel room and I do a mental double take every time I hear "t-bow", until I remember it's in the context of college football.
  25. We're there on Sunday and I will be glad for one more day at the ballpark.
