  1. I appreciate the posts. In Madison we are getting weather warnings every couple of minutes, so the radio broadcast is piecemeal. (The storms are still to our southwest, but I fully expect to be moving to the basement in the next hour or so. Looks like a pretty decent squall line.)
  2. Ahh, Iron Mike. Mr. Warmth. 120+ pitches. That was sweet. Actually, that whole Brewers Classics series was pretty sweet. Does anyone know why the Cardinals were wearing black arm bands in the WS? I didn't hear it explained by the TV crew.
  3. BrewerFanMatt is so in. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. but hardly fair to those using "council" and "counsel" as properly intended. Scott is correct. This would work for Graffanino but not so much Counsell.
  5. Wouldn't the profanity filter simply replace "Councel" or other misspelling with "@!$##"? (not that this wouldn't have some utility on, say, a 4 strikeout day for Craig) Or can it be customized to serve as an automatic spell check/corrector for designated words? Because that would be cool.
  6. Watching that 6-run 7th inning almost left me teary eyed. When was the last time a Milwaukee crowd was able to celebrate such a big game? Oh, right, that same weekend, 25 years ago. It would be nice to feel that kind of excitement again. There's my understatement of the month.
  7. Customer transactions like the one I had today: a visitor asked me several questions at a rapid-fire pace, then before I could address even one of them, turned around and called after her departing friend so she could take a picture of her (which took a few minutes, as she took several pictures and they each cooed over the results on the camera review screen). Also, the first of her questions was "is that really your natural hair color?", and she called me "honey." But it bugged me more that she asked me questions and then interrupted me as I tried to answer. To her credit, she was apologetic - both for making me wait to answer the questions she'd asked me and for asking about my hair.
  8. I could go for a magnet. The ones left when we go on April 3 will all be outside my reach. Plus those magnets from September 2006 are so...last year.
  9. Boy I hope gameday isn't this slow come opening day! So it's not just me? At home yesterday I figured it was our glacial dial-up. But I'm not using dialup right now and it'll stay put for a long time, then jump ahead like a half inning. The Gameday window is titled "Gameday 2006"...maybe it's a year behind?
  10. This is so looking like Nationals bulletin board fodder.
  11. Gameday is stuck on the top of the 6th for me (Joakim Soria replaces Zack Greinke with Fielder up). So did Mench strike out, or are you pleased by something that K(evin) Mench did? Edit - gameday finally reveals the Mench action. Hoorah.
  12. Who was lackluster, Hall or Hart? (Gameday says "right center".) Edit: Never mind - saw the last post.
  13. OK, I only have Gameday because Madison radio opted to cover the Badgers in the WNIT. What led to the inside-the-park HR? I know if I have to ask, I probably don't want to know the answer, but I'm curious anyway.
  14. Wow, Greinke's gameday picture makes him look 18 years old.
  15. The tornado watch is northwest of Madison, so it's not by you, billyhallfan. I too have noticed and am disappointed by the apparent departure of the intro music on the Brewers Radio Network. Its cheesy genericness had finally grown on me, and now it's gone. Did those 'studio musicians' start to cost too much? You'd think it would cost more to get the rights to the snippets of the variety of 'real' songs they're playing now. Between this and the possible demise of the Home Run Inning, the Brewers Radio Network is testing my faith.
  16. Remember, though, it has to occur in the 3rd inning to produce a winner. This game reminds me of the ST games we attended two weeks ago. The Cactus League: Where no lead is safe. Ever.
  17. Did you hear this ridiculous new triple play contest? I just started a separate thread in the major league forum about 2007 in-game "contests." This triple play thing sounds like the 2007 equivalent of the Menards Big Inning of 2006. Neither is/was statistically unwinnable, but the folks putting up the prizes know the odds are well in their favor. Brewersradionetwork.com also mentions a Potawotami Bingo Play Big 21 contest - which has a contestant drawn every game who is guaranteed a modest prize, plus a chance of a bigger prize if the combined final score is 21. If these contests replace the Home Run Inning I will be unhappy. Edited to add link to thread, right here.
  18. I am already sick of the return of Sammy Sosa. It's only of the barest comfort that he's in the AL now.
  19. Saltalamacchia Would this be the longest name ever on the back of a Brewers uniform?
  20. Might be the most random list of players ever placed on this site. That sounds like a challenge! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. It's Mike Meyers (saw it on his jersey last week), so not the same fellow.
  22. I want to go back to Maryvale already.
  23. BREWERS GO TO THEIR ONLY WS EVER!! You mean, their only World Series to date. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I have some of the Wisconsin State Journal sections from that postseason. One of the games overlapped with a UW football game, at which fans appeared to spontaneously boo (but they weren't booing, they were chanting COOOOP). Imagine the Brewers getting more attention than Badger football. How things have changed, for both sides.
  24. Today was the third of three spring training games we attended, and Capellan performed poorly in two of them. I may just have my new target of "hawing closer rage" for 2007. If you see me pacing the concourses at MP late in a game, it just might mean that Jose has taken the mound. It was pretty cool to see Gallardo, at least for the first inning of his stint. I'd actually managed to forget that Sammy Sosa was on the scene...until he was introduced in the lineup today. Before the afternoon ended, I remembered how much I dislike him. Still, to end on a happier note, the Brewers had a .667 winning percentage in games we attended this spring. May they be as successful in regular season games we attend in 2007. Edit: I forgot to mention the Corey Koskie sighting. Obviously it doesn't mean he can play anytime soon, but it was nice to see him suited up and hanging around the dugout.
  25. The TV program "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." It's so over-the-top perky and the goal seems to be to manipulate my heart-strings. The remodeling crew could help these hard-luck families without resorting to such excess and drama. It's kind of a "Queen for a Day" in 21st century overdrive. Why did I watch? Because we only have one hotel room and the S.O. likes it. At home I can go to another part of the house. Edit: Honorable mention goes to Deal or No Deal (another show on which the S.O. pauses). The contestant wackiness quotient (that's CWQ, of course) seems to have gone way up recently.
