  1. JJ! No salami but I'll take it. (OOOOOOOOOOO) Edit: OOOOOhh, well. Still, thanks for the 7th tally.
  2. Dear Brewers: Please. Maintain. This. Lead. Do it for Doug. Sincerely, hawing
  3. JP: "It's like he (Rocket) couldn't figure out which base to throw to." [insert snarky roids comment here] Ahem. This would be a mighty good time to capitalize. EDIT: Like that. Make 'em pay, Sharpie!
  4. seems like he has been trying for win #10 since before the all-star break, or has he? Doug's last win was June 22. (Sigh.)
  5. AHHHHH!!!! I FORGOT THEY PLAYED TODAY!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED!!!?? All's I know is that JJ had a big day. Ahhh! I knew they played today but I've been training someone and couldn't monitor the score. JJ? (pause to look at boxscore) JJ!
  6. With this win they equal last years total win count. Actually, last year they won 67 games. One of their rainouts (Pgh, I think, or at least Pgh would make sense) wasn't made up so they played 161 games. So, 68. Whoooo! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. So: Geoff goes 5 for 5. Big Wes is now hitting .312. The Brewers took it to a pitcher making his MLB debut.* The Brewers are manufacturing runs. Whaa??!!?? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif *(I realize that it all might have been different had the rookie Booker started the game.) As for an unofficial fan fest II, I say why not? It would be fun to at least meet up before a game - even if there is no fabulous logo cake. Mmm, cake. If it's the 24th, those of us who can go can celebrate with whoever wins a big prize.
  8. Brewers Radio Network listeners : does it sound like Bob's delivering the play-by-play on the phone? or is it just me?
  9. Given the records of our opponents here on out, I'll predict 79-83 as the final record. Sounds plausible. Mine isn't a probability, but a dream: they get to 81 wins, and do it on September 29, Mark Attanasio's birthday. I'll be there for it (whether that's the day or not).
  10. Got home recently from the game. I really wanted to see Sharpie hold on for the win, but I'll definitely take the end result. Manufactured Run Fever - catch it! I was willing to let Doug start the 8th (103 pitches at the time), but I think I would have switched after the first runner reached. In the 9th, I also wondered why they were pitching to Brady - unless they reasoned that J.J. is not exactly an automatic out lately. Really terrific weather - the breeze in from center wouldn't have helped any long ball, but it was welcome for fans. How old is the girl singing the National Anthem? She sounds like she's 7, but a good job nonetheless. The singer today was Little Miss Wisconsin Sweetheart (or something like that). She looked about 7.
  11. Little Wes to Victor to Lehr. (Insert Homer Simpsonesque shudder.) The announced attendance is 32,022. Might be about right for bobblehead night - Labor Day weekend + a Badger game that was as slow as molasses.
  12. Sorry to be fussy, but isn't this game three of a four game series?
  13. That baserunning blunder was 2002 Breweresque. Nice game so far. I'd like to have gone, but this week is just too busy at work, so it's only Sunday for me. C'mon Cap, hold the lead.
  14. Man, what a demoralizing day. This game was a drag, but if you want to talk demoralizing, that was Friday, in the end. If I were Cappy (the elder), I'd *really* try to focus on staying strong as long as possible on Sunday.
  15. With all due respect to Ueck, I'm not sure it would have been worth the nesting dolls to watch this in person. (from what I've gleaned from just now catching up on the thread) I'll add my "whaa??" to the pitching choices tonight, but all the speculation in my mind has already been repeated before.
  16. Well, this pitching matchup does have a Christians vs. lions feeling that is hard to shake. But how many times this season have the Brewers done the unexpected? They've been closing with Farnsworth lately. Yeah, I didn't realize they had him until the scoreboard indicated he was warming up in the Braves bullpen last night. At the time I was thinking, sure, bring him on. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  17. Lord-a-mitey, what a game to be at tonight. I went from awe to shock to fear pretty quickly. The thought I couldn't get out of my mind was, "The season changes right here." It was Ueck's call that freaked me out the most. He sounded downright worried and I don't like hearing Bob sound worried. And I swear, I was thinking of those of you posting at home during the injury delay (knowing that many if not most of you would have to rely on gameday, etc. and would be wondering what the heck was going on). I figured the posts had to be as panicky as we were feeling. When will the Brewers install wireless connections at Miller Park so we can bring notebooks and post for the posters reading from home? By the end of the game, Bob sounded a lot less worried and so was I. There's merit to the speculation that the current strain talk is merely positive spin, but for now we can't do anything about it except wait and hope for better. The Brewers already survived Ben's dizzy spell absence. I cringe at the thought of Victor returning to the rotation, but there are worse things than losing Ben for the last month of this season. Switching to happier thoughts: before the injury, Ben was an absolute joy to watch tonight. I felt lucky just to be in the audience. Except that Ben's turn back the clock uniform did NOT suit him well. The sleeves on his jersey looked like bell bottoms. I know that was the style Back Then, but the sleeves didn't look ridiculously big on anyone else. The throwback unis did look appropriate on several of the others (Big Wes - who perhaps felt he was "home" again in a Braves jersey; Damian and Chad; and even Turnbow, though he'd need a crew cut to complete the look). Last question: Did Carlos' HR hit the pole? We lost its arc in the haze and lights, but I saw it land just foul in the seats. Since the umpire signaled HR right away and no one from Atlanta protested, I figured it must have hit the pole - but haven't been able to verify that.
  18. 1290 WMCS is the backup I believe for Milwaukee. That sounds right. Thanks. We've called the ticket office (their toll free number, since we're not local) on game day before to get (at least) an estimate on whether the roof will be open or closed. In response to an email I sent the Brewers last year, someone in stadium operations told me that unless it's colder than I think 60 degrees, they pretty much regard the roof as a precipitation shield. So I think the roof status tonight will hinge (pivot? he he) on the precip outlook. Let's hope that Ben and the Brewers are so awesome tongiht that the media will rue spurning them for wall to wall Pack coverage.
  19. Milwaukeebrewers.com claims that the radio broadcast tonight will be on 620, but I assume that is incorrect. What's the backup station for the Milwaukee area? I'm sure by the time we leave Madison and can get TMJ without interference, that they will be knee deep in Packer pregame.
  20. Pitch 1 - Ball Pitch 2 - Ball Pitch 3 - Ball Pitch 4 - Called Strike Pitch 5 - Foul Pitch 6 - Foul Pitch 7 - Foul Pitch 8 - Foul Pitch 9 - In play, no out recorded Chad Moeller singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jeff Conine. Now that is (or looks like, on gameday) a gritty at bat.
  21. But you gotta feel a little better that Valdez' ERA is 4.5 Yeah, I guess that means he can't bring his ERA under 5 by having a career day against the Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif C'mon Sharpie! Make it your day!
  22. Woo-hoo! Another happy evening (if not the most stellar night of baseball ever).
  23. 33,000+ in the house tonight. I didn't know the c'mon back club was so popular. Watching the past two games, I'd like to know how in the heck Florida is in the hunt. They've under performed this year, IMO. Last night we were looking at the lineup and noting all the healthy looking Marlin batting averages. And they have these highly touted arms. We wondered the same thing - why are they struggling for the WC?
  24. Geez: I was so looking forward to coming home - from a game I really enjoyed - and feel the Brewer love in the in-game thread. Cappy (the elder?) was cruising to begin with, and solid overall. All those hits by the kids. Rickie's web gem, which had better make it onto Baseball Tonight. Even Bob's riff on the radio over those dolls was fun. Plus we had complimentary club seats, our annual thank-you from the Brewers for having a partial season ticket package. Maybe I should offer this game as evidence that they should give us club seats more often. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But this thread is a lot less fun than attending the game was.
  25. Terrific effort by Ben. It is what we should expect from our ace.
