  1. Have you narrowed down your visiting time to a particular month or series yet? You might want to keep track of whether your visit overlaps with Summerfest, State Fair or one of the other festivals.
  2. Oh, man, RFC, you, JaDerHeySki and your family have the sympathy of the hawing household. I don't mean to sound flippant, but hasn't September done enough to you?

  4. If I didn't really like my signature, I'd change to this in a heartbeat. Kudos!
  5. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=MLB&id=6071&line=411052&spln=1 As some of my students would say, I DON'T EVEN.
  6. Whoa! I figured he'd only call corporate type customers (seeing the owner of Kelly's Bleachers as an example only strengthened my theory). The bummer for us is he'd have to call in the evening or on the weekend to get us. I'd be intrigued to hear him on our voicemail. I can't pretend I'd know what to say.
  7. If the Pirates are going to do this, they may as well win the whole..you know...thing.
  8. Ideally without injuring anyone else in the process. I suppose if he's there tonight he'll be there Wednesday. Man, it's irritating when a reliever (any reliever) gives up a critical run, then gets in a groove immediately after. Little late.
  9. What I kind of like about this series is no outcome sounds horrible to me. I always consider a Brewers win to be preferable, but if the Pirates get win #81 or 82 when we are there Wednesday, I'm not above giving them an ovation. I remember how jacked up Brewerfan was for the 81st win in 2005.
  10. That the longest threads take a while to open is not your imagination, or "just you." We may have to split them (or some of them) at some point to preserve the content while keeping the load time manageable.
  11. For starters (ha), here's the Brewers' lineup. [sarcasm]Why am I at work if it's Sunday?[/sarcasm] 2B Scooter Gennett SS Jean Segura C Jonathan Lucroy 3B Aramis Ramirez LF Khris Davis 1B Juan Francisco RF Sean Halton CF Logan Schafer P Tom Gorzelanny This game is not televised, so does it really happen?
  12. I'm not looking to be confrontational, but what would constitute an acceptable apology to you? I have been trying to take as neutral an approach as I can to this whole circus, but am frankly not sure how doubts won't crop up in my head whenever Ryan speaks. I mean, ANYTHING the dude says now can theoretically be called into question. Didn't he already 'bet his life' in a previous statement that now appears to be false? Where do you go from there? "No, really, this time I swear" ?
  13. I'm now taking just about everything said/written about this saga with a giant grain of salt. Sheesh.
  14. Aw, we had a similar experience almost exactly 10 years ago. The woman who staffed the terrace level Guest Relations booth disappeared during that awful September 2003 Cubs series that left Cubs fans way too happy. The first report was that she had bronchitis. The next report was that she had lung cancer. She never returned to MP and died that December. It bugged me that we never got to say goodbye and thanks face to face. Her daughter still works at MP (based in the same guest relations booth) and at the end of the '03 season I gave her a card to give to her mom, so at least we indirectly got to say thanks. I've read enough threads and heard enough stories to know that some MP employees are jerks (as would be the case in any workplace), but we have been fortunate to come to know quite a few good people there.
  15. Here's an audio clip of the Reds' TV team "call" of the walkoff: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/23184132
  16. Oh it happened. My daughter even tried to get Hawing's attention from above to help celebrate the walk-off. Aww! Tell her I appreciate her thinking of me. We're going Sunday but sitting in the stratosphere. It'll be like 2001 all over again! except all different personnel.
  17. In the absence of any other comments, I'm going to make this the hawing thread and tell you how great my loge section (217) is. During Friday's game there were fans in 217 wearing a Bianchi shirsey, a Counsell shirsey hand-bedecked with rhinestones (!), AND an autographed navy Doug Davis #49 jersey - worn by someone who is not me.
  18. The Reds' lineup: CF Shin-Soo Choo 3B Todd Frazier 1B Joey Votto 2B Brandon Phillips RF Jay Bruce LF Ryan Ludwick SS Zack Cozart C Devin Mesoraco P Mat Latos The Brewers': RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura C Jonathan Lucroy 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Juan Francisco LF Khris Davis 2B Scooter Gennett CF Logan Schafer P Yovani Gallardo
  19. Aww, I enjoyed this game so much that I'm bummed there was no opportunity to make an IGT. Jonathan Lucroy finally broke through vs. Aroldis Chapman in the bottom of the 9th, in a big way.
  20. Yet Ryan is "the cockroach"? This is going to stick in my craw until someone in the national media calls A-Rod a cockroach too.
  21. So, my strategy was going to be to collect my August vouchers (I should now have 7 by month's end, if we get to each game for which we have tickets) and put them all toward something nice in the team store. I figured I'd case out the store last night, since it's a Thursday and the team is out of contention, and surely it wouldn't be as crazy as on that Nats weekend. Hahahahaha. The crowd last night was 36,000+ and it was very much a voucher crowd. We thought maybe it was also a TWC or BP redemption night, but that is not the case. There were slow moving lines absolutely everywhere. I did get to the Friday's-corner team store and identified some items to aim for in September, but the checkout line (3rd-4th inning) snaked back to the team store entrance. The only food stands I encountered on my walk (covering parts of the terrace, loge and field levels) that were not mobbed were the "heavenly roasted nuts" stands (which do not accept vouchers) and the kettle corn/dippin dots cart on the RF loge level (where I finally got something to make me forget that I wasn't really eating supper). The grab-and-go stand on the field level didn't have a dramatically long line, but it was also almost out of food. I'm glad fans are responding to the vouchers, and for the sake of the organization, I hope the program generates enough goodwill to bring them back for other games - but man oh man, I don't think the Brewers were prepared for this level of response. We'll be cutting it close to get to tonight's game by first pitch and I am planning on getting some subs to bring in. I don't think I can count on being able to get ballpark food, for the foreseeable future, without either arriving very early or missing significant amounts of the game.
  22. For some reason I found it fascinating that Johnny was at the VA Hospital practically next door to the ballpark. We are rapidly losing the MLB players who developed a strong bond with Milwaukee as a city.
  23. Mariners fans might be wondering if this is their rock bottom.
  24. Not fully on topic, but the observation above that once you get used to eating less sodium, you really notice the most salty foods resonated with me. When I went to college, I didn't bring a salt shaker. I wasn't consciously trying to eat less salt, just didn't bring one. By the time I was out of college, I was used to going without for most foods, and some foods are just plain too salty for me now. Our household now has salt and pepper shakers, but we hardly ever refill them. Except for corn on the cob. I still salt corn on the cob.
  25. If I had some coconuts, I'd have them shipped to you so you could make a radio.
