  1. At least a "rubber match" means the Brewers won a game. Your Milwaukee Brewers: RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura LF Ryan Braun CF Carlos Gomez 1B Yuniesky Betancourt 3B Jeff Bianchi 2B Rickie Weeks C Martin Maldonado RHP Kyle Lohse Those Classy Cardinals: 2B Matt Carpenter RF Carlos Beltran LF Matt Holliday 1B Allen Craig C Yadier Molina CF Jon Jay 3B David Freese SS Pete Kozma LHP John Gast Possibly the best news today: after today's game, the Brewers and Cardinals don't meet again for THREE MONTHS.

  3. I'll admit, there were a few moments when it was hard to watch, but yay. Now those terrace box tickets in the "Brewers Win, You Win" promotion will be at least **$3** off!
  4. When you hear the phrase "the skies opened up" in regard to rain, that video is what I'm going to think of from now on. There is a YouTube channel for the AOSS cameras, so you can at least see it on the internets.
  5. Imma go out on a limb and declare a spring/summer/fall weather thread plausible for 2013. There's a chance at severe weather in at least southern Wisconsin Sunday into Monday and Monday into Tuesday, which dovetails too perfectly with our pending trip to Miller Park Monday evening. Anyway, to whet your appetite for non-winter weather, here is a time-lapse video of Tuesday's night's storm event that took off near Madison and resulted in some big winds in parts of southeast Wisconsin. The video is from UW-Madison's AOS tower cam (AOS is Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, which owbc can tell you allll about because it was his undergraduate department):
  6. Well, putting the Brewers' uniform up against the Dodgers' in round one might well take care of that.
  7. I can post Monday's lineups now or post them after first pitch. I'll choose now: Brewers RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura CF Carlos Gomez 3B Aramis Ramirez 2B Yuniesky Betancourt C Jonathan Lucroy 1B Blake Lalli LF Logan Schafer RHP Marco Estrada Pirates LF Starling Marte RF Travis Snider CF Andrew McCutchen 1B Gaby Sanchez 2B Neil Walker 3B Pedro Alvarez C Michael McKenry SS Clint Barmes RHP A.J. Burnett And in case you missed it from the Random MLB news thread a few weeks ago, your Pittsburgh Pirates, everyone!
  8. I'd consider a Polish, since I think there is some Polish in the S.O.'s background. But with it being all in Milwaukee with very little advance word (and I understand why each is the case), we in Madison have essentially no chance. Plus we already have tickets to the Dodgers' series. Oh well.
  9. Various tweets on my timeline this morning suggest that Carlos is banged up, so while that won't satisfy the Weeks part of your question, it does shed light on the Gomez part.
  10. Maybe YuB? (yubie)
  11. If you have some time to waste, google "johnny lechner." Actually, googling the words whitewater johnny was enough for me. Dude's on MySpace! See, Adam, don't you feel accomplished now?
  12. Just pause and think for a moment: Yuni leads the Brewers in HR and is tied for the RBI lead - and while it's not late in the season, neither is the season barely out of the gate. This doesn't prove he's put it all together, but dang if Yuni hasn't managed to decently step up at a time he's needed. Kudos, man.
  13. That lineup would have been the best in baseball by a landslide. Braun, Fielder, Cruz, Hart, good Weeks, Hardy. Yikes! Though I kind of have this rep as a calm fan who can see the big picture/long view of things, if the Brewers had retained Nelson Cruz, gotten as close to a WS title as the 2011 Rangers did, and missed out on a play like Cruz made (didn't make) in the 2011 WS...I might have gone postal. Obviously not trading Cruz wouldn't have guaranteed any WS appearances, but man. I wonder if he's regarded by Rangers fans the way Bill Buckner was in Boston. Back to reality: almost any outcome tonight would have been an improvement over Sunday's game, but it was heartening to see the home team win again, finally. Let's ponder who currently leads the team in HR and RBI. Yup.
  14. I did not look in the store this weekend, but on Sunday a fan in our section had that jersey on, as well as a 1913-style cap (only white with a blue M instead of the opposite).
  15. Late to the thread, but I'd be prepared to visit the team store for these. The one by Friday's at Miller Park has a room of just sausage gear. There are kid-sized t-shirts, but I haven't seen sausage onesies before. Doesn't mean there aren't any, only that I haven't noticed them. Also, congratulations on the pending arrival of Cinco. Dang, I remember when you were just starting law school!
  16. Props to you, Adam. It's easy to think it's not that big a deal - especially if you started college right after high school, in which case 'going to school' is what you've done for almost all your life. But plenty of people don't go to college, and plenty who do start and don't finish. Plus it's not like you haven't faced any roadblocks. So you have my congratulations and best wishes.
  17. Whoa, kudos for the 70s pop culture reference from another hemisphere! So, the weather was gorgeous and I thought the Brewers' throwback uniforms were too. Unfortunately, the unis are kind of tainted by that game now, and the on-field action was trying to watch. The worst part was the STL fan across the aisle from me who had to react audibly to EVERY. SINGLE. PITCH. AND PLAY. "Striiiiike." "COME on, Matty Ballgame!" (His nickname for Holliday) *furious clapping after EVERY pitch taken for a ball by a Cardinal* (which if you watched, you know happened a lot) "JJJJJJONJAY!" "SIDDOWN, Carlos!" (after a Gomez K, which ended an inning, so it didn't even make sense since he had to return to the field) I was surprised he didn't devolve into Rob-Schneider-as-copy-guy mode (PETE! Kozma! The Kozmanator! Gettin' base hits...) Dude also declared the first HBP to be "bush league." I was sorely, sorely tempted to ask him if it was also bush league to order someone to bean intentionally and insist it was unintentional until months later, once you're retired, and then finally fess up. I held off. The hawing ticket packages don't include an STL game again until August 20, and even that is too soon. GET OUT OF MY FACE.
  18. I take a lot of photos at the games we attend, and post many on Facebook. I do it partly for my mom, who can't attend often because loud noises give her vertigo. Today a friend who is also a Cardinals fan called me out for being mean-spirited, without bothering to look through the album. He added that only Brewers fans would ever consider the Cardinals anything but classy winners. I guess I've been put in my rightful place. So it would be nice if the Brewers had another comeback in them, even though we now know they cannot hope to ever truly best STL, the class of baseball. Soothe what's left of my soul!
  19. Thanks, TLB. I know better than to assume, but FOX broadcast + Yovani vs. Cards + Wainwright vs. Brewers = not looking so hot on paper. Prove me wrong, Brewers.
  20. Educator Days are part of the Special Events page linked in Jake's lead post above, but it's also here: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/ticketing/group_special_events.jsp
  21. In that Pirates video I posted, Clint Barmes looks like he'd rather be someplace else. I like the city of Pittsburgh and PNC Park, so I appreciate the town pride throughout the video. And now that I look again, at least Wandy is wearing a Pirates t-shirt.
  22. How would you introduce the Pirates' starting lineup if you were the PNC scoreboard crew? I guess you wouldn't want them wearing uniforms or any type of Pirates gear. Props for their thinking outside the box, at least. I find it irrationally hilarious that Neil Walker's appearance has a Noodles & Company in the background. Now that's vibrant! Wandy also looks hi-larious.
  23. Well, then, you overlooked my attempt to keep it clear with the J. Gomez. I have to admit, Jeanmar is a pretty cool sounding first name.
