  1. It has been years since we were last at such a miserable game. Here's a slice of my life from last night: - Row of Cub fans in front of us; to their credit, they weren't in Brewer fans' faces, but they spent plenty of time on their feet cheering because they had plenty to cheer about. - Group of 6th graders behind us, who realized before the game began that if they screeched and jumped around enough, they could get on the videoboard. So after getting on the videoboard during pregame, they proceeded to screech the rest of the night. They got on the 'board twice more. - Two guys to our immediate right who felt compelled to narrate the election returns from their smartphone (when I was specifically trying to avoid politics for the night). - And Flappy McGloveflap taking a perfecto WAY too long. It's as if the baseball gods are saying to us, "hawing household, you had a nearly flawless 2011 season. Here comes the pendulum!" Interesting jersey sightings: 90s style Seitzer and 1999 Jim Lefebvre.
  2. I guess it makes sense that he (finally) went yard with the big club, since that seemed to be just about all he did for Nashville.
  3. I'm bumping this thread because, if my memory serves me well (and it usually does), kalle8 and his bride Rosanna are either married by now, or about to be. Best wishes to you both! :)
  4. I'd rather know about her shortstop skills.
  5. I almost forgot what it was like to enter the starting Brewers into the home lineup. Welcome home, and welcome to June!
  6. Adding to my general Brewers contentment this morning is the happy realization that May is over.
  7. Got that right! As always, I don't begrudge the PT and MT fans their chance to catch a game at a more reasonable hour, but getting beat from the late night start/end times + feeling beat from the work day to begin with = not a great situation for hawing.
  8. Speaking from the perspective of one who has worked either on or in close contact with a university campus for over 20 years, I fully agree.
  9. I look forward to Clay Tweel becoming the next Taint McFadden around these parts.
  10. I'm thinking how amazed she might have been to meet the man who helped produce Ryan Braun. Though maybe she's not old enough to see it that way.
  11. I doubt he has to pay for parking at Miller Park, but for some reason I wouldn't expect the Dodgers to give any relative of Ryan's a break. I agree that SoCalBrewCrewFan struck gold with that search, though. Is your Braun fan offspring with you?
  12. Oh, that is it. I know that fluky injury stories have in the past been floated to cover up embarrassing accidents, but there is zero justification for that kind of backlash, no matter what happened. I'd better not cross paths with any of those "fans" ever.
  13. Indeed. Just last longer than Chris Saenz, if you would.
  14. Please, please, please stay healthy and intact tonight, Brewers.
  15. Could be an extremely heavy suitcase; could be a rolling suitcase and he got schmucked by one of the casters; and it must have been in just the right spot.
  16. So. Boxer's fracture of the right hand. 15-day DL, Maldonado coming up. Fiers is coming up too. Gord Ash's initial estimate is 4-6 weeks out for Luc. Who can tell me much about a boxer's fracture?
  17. A double agent working for TLR. Apparently winning the 2011 WS wasn't comeuppance enough.
  18. Adam McCalvy says that Conrad and Green could be emergency catchers. Part of me (just part) wishes they'd put one of them in behind the plate, just so George's hamstring doesn't get worse.
  19. This tweet is one of many reasons why I expect to be a Jim Powell fan for life. He was talking about using a different color ink in his scorebook (either changing from black to blue or blue to black):
  20. More than seven months later, I'm surprised at how just typing in the names of the Diamondback starters takes me back to October 2011. Well, save us, Zack Greinke, and the other eight too.
  21. Looking at how many SS have gone down, who'd want to be the next one? For the record, the initial word on Cesar is strained left hamstring.
  22. This isn't Dick Pole territory, but I thought it was kind of remarkable when the Brewers had Jim Bruske, since his name was pronounced just as a Brewer's name should be.
  23. The critical question: what do we call the platoon? Ranturis? Izsom? C+C Shortstop Factory?
