  1. I mean, he's been pretty good this year. 3.33 ERA and a 3.34 fip in 14 starts. It's not like he's some schlub who hasn't had any success this season.
  2. If you assume, let's say a 90% chance the Reds win any given game (let's be generous) multiplied 13 times, you're going to have a 7% chance that they sweep it. And 90% chance is being super generous. So yes. You can make a ton of money on that. I would bet that. It’s worth it I'm not going to give you 10 to 1. I stand to make very little on it. Neither is anyone else.

  4. I'll take the under on that Give me the odds and I will take that bet I bet you can make a ton of money on that. Pittsburgh is not a professional baseball team after dumping everyone Even if you assume 90% win rate for Cincy (no) the Pirates are going to win 1 or 2.
  5. I'd guess there's about a 1% chance that JJ finds his way onto an MLB roster from this point of the season forward. I won't say zero, just because you never say never, but if he's not into someone's facility by now, and if teams haven't gotten ahold of him by now, it's probably not going to happen, and we probably wont' find out *why* for a while, if ever.
  6. As has been pointed out in each thread about players testing positive for Covid, let's try to keep this on the topic of the impact on the roster, and at this point, potential impact on the schedule.
  7. Nope. I will not root for Grayson Allen.
  8. I'm willing to go out on a limb And guess that most teams have saves leaders lists that look pretty similar to this. You'll have the occasional Mariano Rivera type that sticks with a team for a good long while but others have already pointed out that relievers are pretty volatile, even the top tier relievers. I think you really have to look at the absolute world-class guys like Rivera and Hoffman as outliers.
  9. Yes technically they could have paid PJ to come back. But the amount it would have cost them to keep a guy who scores three points a game and plays rough and tumble defense is astronomical. I like PJ Tucker. I like what he did for the Bucks. I'm one of his proponents. I'm a guy who thinks he does a lot more than what shows up in the box score. But to pay what amounts to 50 million dollars a year for those intangibles is absolutely bonkers. Because that's what it would cost to go into the luxury tax to pay him, and that's just nutso.
  10. I'm ok with not signing Oladipo. Having really limited resources, spending some of the money we have on a guy who won't be ready for later in the season is a gamble at best. I wouldn't have minded the gamble, but I'm also ok with not taking it.
  11. Houser was gassed. He could barely find the plate in the 6th and wasn't finding all that much in the beginning of the 7th. Gassed at 100 pitches in August? Good Grief. Do we have a strength/conditioning program problem again akin to the 90's? NL average for pitches per start is 83 pitches. Adrian Houser has thrown 100 pitches once, ever, in his career. Yes. He was gassed. This is not the 90's.
  12. He's gone over 100 pitches once before. He's not conditioned to go well past 100 pitches. We can want him to, but that's just not how these guys are conditioned to go any more.

  14. I mean he wasn’t going to make it but let him give up the hit. We don't have much of a pen right now. Rather have them not have to come in with multiple guys on base.
  15. Just take him out. There's no way he's pitching 3 more innings, no matter what. Be tactical and win this game instead of trying to get an individual milestone that's probably realistically well out of reach.
  16. Assuming we sign Oladipo (and assuming he can stay healthy enough to play 45- 50 games), where are his minutes coming from? Is he getting Pat's minutes? I don't like Patty's defense, but I'd rather pay someone who can be on the court and provide somewhat of a sure thing.
  17. We will agree to disagree. Um, yeah, I have noticed, but thanks for pointing it out. Since they won the game, how did it backfire?
  18. "Cratered" walk rate,..... he's still walking about once every 10 AB's. As Dhonks said, there's a lot more to player development than looking at the stats.
  19. Hopefully he's not hurt seriously, and hopefully we don't need to use him In a game again. No harm no foul.
  20. Really won't complain about what they've got done, considering how up against the cap they are.
  21. Well... Guess there wasn't any bad blood after all.
