  1. 3 years ago Roders makes that throw no problem.
  2. That first down was huge, if for no other reason than it means we don't have to punt and give DET field position with time left.
  3. Not a good throw for Rodgers. Should have been caught, but that's a bad throw by Rodgers.
  4. Ok, that was an ugly drive. Better tighten things up.
  5. It was a catch, but it could also have been argued that forward progress had been stopped, as the receiver was going backwards being driven by the defender and not on his own. I would disagree with that, as he had taken 3 steps, but only 3 steps. At that point it's hard to say that the play was definitely "over". Pretty hard to find a ref that's going to blow a whistle on forward progress that quickly I think.
  6. That was absolutely a catch. He had the ball, was not juggling or struggling to control it and took 3 steps. Absolutely abysmal call
  7. At least quote your source
  8. Astoundingly incorrect, IMO of course. I guess it's a good idea if you enjoy watching blowouts before the championship game. LSU this year happens to be an astoundingly powerful offense with one of the greatest QB recruits in recent memory. I feel like #1 vs #8 would be a competitive game a bit more often than you're thinking it would. It's not like #8 is the 64th team in a 64 team NCAA basketball tourney. We're still talking one of the top 10 teams in the country.
  9. So far, in 5 years, the 2 seed has won 3 times, and the 4 seed has won twice. The #1 seed has yet to win it all. I don't think that, in and of itself is a compelling case to expand to 8. Maybe to 6, just to ensure all the power 5 champions get into the field. I think we have these years (like this one) where we have a pretty clear cut field of 4, and it makes us feel like "this is why we have a field of 4" and then there's other years where maybe there's a cluster of four more very deserving teams, and those years we have a very vocal group of sportscasters and fans that say " this is why it should be 8!" ..... and so it goes. No system will be perfect. Look at the NCAA tourney. No matter how many teams they let it, there's always fringe teams that deserve to be in, and some that probably shouldn't have been allowed in.

  11. Andujar is mildly intriguing. He put up a 2.2 WAR season at age 23 which the value of was cut in half because of awful, Braunsian level bad defense at 3B. He doesn't take a lot of walks, but he is young, and could improve that walk rate. I absolutely wouldn't want him to be the centerpiece of a Hader deal, and I'd look at him being a future DH, if that is indeed coming to the NL. I just don't see the Yankees as being a great fit though, for many of the reasons listed. I think Hader is staying put for now. Though I have been known to be wrong. From time to time....
  12. There's a very good possibility that we enter the season with Hader as a Brewer.
  13. Im almost positive it hasnt. And I dont know why the Brewers would eant to trade Stearns, as the president of baseball ops.
  14. Stearns is also the president of baseball operations, so he would have to trade himself.
  15. Not really worried about the turnovers. Not something they've done as a team a lot this season.
  16. I don't think there's a story. I think he's just a bit salty his team got ran off the field in the second half and there chances of a home playoff game just got the doors blown off
  17. Brogdon has missed 34 and 18 games the last 2 years. Part of why Middleton was signed and kept as a Buck was to keep Giannis happy. Part of his value comes from keeping the best basketball player on the planet (yup) wanting to stay on the Bucks. Giannis may or may not stay, but by all accounts, if the Bucks don't re-up Middleton, their chances of re-signing Giannis would be hindered. It's not like MIddleton is some 34 year old who's going to be ancient when he hits the end of this deal. He's 28, and having one of his best seasons, if not best season ever, by PER or WS/48. He's doing everything and playing good ball on both ends of the floor. The Bucks are 27 - 4.... 27 and 4 !!! and have Mids, Lopez and Bledsoe signed to multi-year deals, and if they make it to the Finals, have a REALLY good shot of signing Giannis to a super-max deal. The core of the team that's absolutely destroying everything in it's path will be together for the next 3-4 years and we're complaining that Midds is overpaid? Horst has more than shown that he's fairly shrewd and can find the pieces he needs to work within the very tricky NBA salary cap. I know it was said many many times before. The Bucks choice was to sign and keep Middleton, or not spend the money. Their wasn't another option. It wasn't let Middleton walk and sign some free agent to replace him. It was sign Middleton, or lose out. Yes, he's overpaid, but it was lose him or pay him, pretty much... period, end of story. And Brogdon doesn't bring what Middleton brings to the floor.
  18. Couple milestones next week (maybe). Aaron Jones needs just 14 yards runshing to crack 1000. Davonte Adams will need 96 yards receiving to crack 1000. Both are reachable, though I suspect if the game turns into a one-sided affair, we may not see a lot of Adams.
  19. "They should have paid me but they paid Eric Bledsoe." That's all this is about. When Bledsoe likely signed at a discount in the middle of the season the writing was on the wall. I'm not sure Brogdon offers what Bledsoe does on the defensive end of the floor. Brogdon may be a better player but it's one of those things where you have to look at incremental value. If paying Bledsoe instead means you can bring in Korver and Matthews then it just makes sense. Just using those names as examples, didn't crunch any numbers. But I think the incremental value was the decision maker. I like Brogdon, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't really create his own shot at all, he's a so-so defender, and he's more expensive. I ALSO realize that the quote he gave was partly in response to a question from a reporter, but at the same time, it just seems like there's a more 'middle ground' way of answering whatever was asked. Dude was a 2nd round pick that the Bucks gave a chance to, turned him into a viable NBA player, and helped him make a LOT of money. Maybe he REALLY wanted to stay with the Bucks? I don't know. But if he wanted to be with the Bucks and be the primary ball handler and make 20 mil per year? I just don't see that as ever being a viable scenario.
  20. Middleton is fine. Per 36, he's dumping in 23.4 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists. He plays decent defense, can stop and pop, and he's gotten better at running with the fast break offense Bud wants these guys to run. Is he a max contract guy? No, not really, but he's fine. If paying Mids keeps Giannis happy (and here), I'm ok with him being a Buck. It hasn't kept Horst from putting together an *absolutely dominant* team that should be the East, and possibly NBA favorites this year.
  21. Reading a couple stories tonight about Malcolm Brogdon oh, it doesn't really sound like sour grapes, but he talks about leaving the Bucks because he didn't feel valued. Dude, you're playing on a team with the best player in the universe. How much do you think you're going to get the ball? It's not like he didn't get plenty of touches. So now he's on a team where he is the proverbial man, that literally will have no chance of getting to the finals. I guess if being the man is more important than getting a ring, congratulations?
  22. There's a few sport clips that no matter how many times I watch them I just cant help but smile. That is one of them. Mine is the Randall Cobb TD late against the Bears to clinch the division. Streaking down the middle of the field I believe on 4th and 8 with about 30 ticks to go. That one for sure. Nyjer Morgan knocking in carlos gomez in game 5 of the 2011 nlds. Antonio Freeman's ridiculous catch on mnf vs the vikes.
  23. I struggle to think they'll get another first down the rest of the game. Hundley cant throw an accurate ball more than about 4 yards downfield, so you may be correct.

  25. We all know DS doesn't work that way. He has a value for players and he's not going to exceed that whether the rest of the market is behaving foolishly or not. Not at all implying that Stearns will, or should pay the prices that guys are getting. I'm pretty happy with the way the off-season has gone for the Brewers. Stearns has and will continue to find value. Market inefficiencies and off-dollar value are always going to be evolving, and it's good to have a GM that knows how to look for those things, even if he's not always going to be right.
