  1. I feel like peralta = segura. He may turn it around, but not here. He just needs a change of scenery at this point. Maybe hes done, maybe not, but I feel like the Brewers keep throwing him out tjere is the equivalent of banging your head on a desk.
  2. It's worth a shot with Espino to see if he can be effective in one inning stints. Hopefully the Peralta experiment is over soon as well.
  3. Thames made such a ruckus at the start of the season that he's a good candidate even still. He kind of needs to get that batting average back up in the .270 range though. Shaw is quietly having a really really good season, but as others have said, 3B in the NL is a super stacked position. Knebel has been ridiculous, and even though he doesn't have a ton of saves, might get recognized for how outstanding he's been. Chase Anderson has also quietly been really good. Here's hoping the Brewers don't just get a token single representative.
  4. Hope everything's okay with the Shaw's baby. I know it's a super small sample but Phillips was overmatched. He was striking out in almost every at-bat. I hope we see him back up sooner rather than later but he definitely needs some work
  5. Im ok with Perez slugging more and stealing less. The XBH's have a lot more value than the steals.
  6. Hope Villar isnt out too long, but i hope brinson gets a bit of playing time while he's up.
  7. Hader is going to get his chance tonight. In all likelyhood Knebel is not available after being used for a multiple inning save, and they used 6 guys last night.
  8. THe old famous "I don't mean to (insert blatant awful stereotype boorish behavior), but......" Always said right before someone does exactly what they say they don't want to do.
  9. I'm assuming because the Brewers only have a four man bench.
  10. He was giving up deep flyballs aginst the Cubs at an alarming rate as well. The only reason they weren't homeruns that day was because the wind was gusting in at 30 - 40 mph. Can't be giving up multiple dingers every time out.
  11. Sorry, it was 2001 http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL200104280.shtml 3 HR, 6 RBI, and a strikeout. He hit 2 HR the next day. In the box-score it even has the play by play that shows Jenkins was up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and struck out (looking! WHY!!???)
  12. I think it's funny that Brewers fans deride the Cardinals and their fans for all that "play the game the right way" and "the Cardinal Way" stuff, but as soon as we get a few players who play the game with some exuberance and flair and excitement, we want our players to "play the game the right way" and such. I love me a good bat flip, FWIW. I can't even imagine a pitcher in MLB who's head wouldn't outright explode if a player did something like that. Anyways....... I'm getting off topic. It'd just be nice if everyone at least pretended to want every Brewer player to be successful, even if only to improve their trade value....
  13. I think the comments are more about the idea/perception that ... it feels like there are people who literally seem like they don't want Villar to succeed. There's a negativity about the posts and the guy that just permeate a lot of the comments where even when he does something positive, it feels like you're waiting for him to get thrown out on a caught stealing or make a fielding error to see a flurry of negative posts again. "See!!! See!!! See how terrible he is!!" He's a lightning rod player..... he's just one of those dudes who brings out the scorn. Eh, it is what it is. We're all fans, and we like who we like and in some cases, don't like who we don't like. Villar just seems to be one of those guys who is hard to like for some fans.
  14. The league average (NL) is 5.6 innings per start. The Brewers are averaging 5.4 IP per start, so really they're averaging about one less out per start than the "average" team right now. Cumulatively, it's about 2 extra innings for the bullpen every 10 days compared to league average. The Brewers carry 8 relievers, so this shouldn't be a big deal, but the fact that they have to lean heavily on their only few dependable guys is troublesome. Hopefully either a few guys turn things around or they promote a few kids who show they can produce at the big league level... or SOMETHING happens so CC doesn't feel the need to use only Knebel and Barnes in the high leverage situations when we need to lock down games.
  15. I guess I'm really okay with Broxton even with the strikeouts as long as he keeps that OPS up in the 750 range. He's a streaky guy so I'm hopeful he'll go on one of his hot streaks again. He was a 2 WAR guy last year in half a season so I think it was reasonable to expect him to be a 2 to 4 war guy this year. The defense is obviously a bit concerning and hopefully that will bounce back.
  16. It's a luxury having a bench with guys putting up the kinds of numbers that our bench guys are. Aside from Franklin everyone is putting up starter like offensive numbers. You really can't complain about what anybody is doing off of the bench
  17. It says a lot about what counsell thinks about the current state of the bullpen when he let Nelson pitch through that inning
  18. I checked a few sites and they all list Scoots at 5'10". I too thought he was about 5' 8" at most.
  19. Just spitballing, but I"d guess no where close. Fangraphs now has him at .8 WAR, and Bbref now has him at 1.2 WAR (and IIRC, he was about .7 WAR late last week) Even a huge game like this is probably going to produce like .3 to .4 WAR. Remember, RBI is a teammate dependent stat, so that gets tossed right out.
  20. I was at the Brewers/Expos game when Jenkins had 3 homers (2002?) and he came up for his 4th at bat with the bases loaded and a chance to hit for the homerun cycle. Unfortunately he struck out in that last at bat. Exciting nonethe less.
