  1. Record ..... 82 - 80 Playoffs. nope MVP - Gomez. I know his style infuriates many, but the numbers (and results) speak for themselves Surprise - Jungman Disappointment - Segura will continue to be a sub .650 OPS hitter All Stars - Lucroy, Gomez Bold Prediction - Fiers continues to build off his solid 2014, and throws 180 innings (for the big club) and wins 15 games.
  2. UVA with a loss...... Badgers absolutely curb-stomped Ohio State on the road. There's still hope for a 1-seed.
  3. Call it fatigue, adjustment, whatever you want, but without Knight the Bucks have now lost 3 in a row to some pretty bad teams, and they have looked bad doing it.
  4. I think this is a great point. It wouldn't matter *as much* how long the game was if there wasn't such a slow pace to the game. Obviously, baseball isn't the only sport guilty of this. All of the major sports are, to a degree, but lots of casual fans argue that the amount of action between inaction has grown less and less.
  5. Ramirez is closing out a really nice career. He's going to end up around 2300 hits, 1400 RBI, and close to 400 homers. He's pretty darn comparable to Ron Santo offensively. If only he had been passable with the glove, we'd possibly be talking about his chances of getting into the Hall.
  6. You're assuming that Braun's defensive inefficiencies start and end with errors committed. He had terrible reflexes, poor range, and just fielded the position awfully. It wasn't just the errors, it was also the balls he never touched. As many people as have mentioned it, I don't think it can be overstated. Braun was, literally, possibly the worst fielding third baseman in the modern history of the game. His defensive atrociousness almost wiped out his offensive contribution. For Braun to be a positive contributor if he plays third base, he would have to post a 1.000+ OPS, and honestly, I think that ship has sailed.
  7. I understand that the time out of the batters box is not "just" for adjusting batters gloves. But there are guys (Braun, again, I'm looking at you), that take massive amounts of time, far more than is necessary to "mentally prepare" for whatever the next pitch might be, or whatever. Braun adjusts his gloves, tugs multiple times on his jersey, does 3 practice swings, picks up random stones or dirt...... and this is happening between every pitch. This is no longer "mental preparation", it's a neurosis.
  8. All this winning still wasn't bringing people out. We're still 27th in the league in attendance. Still averaging less than 15K per game. Deviating from the plan to win one extra playoff series isn't a good idea.
  9. I know there are some (not many........ but some) who think the East is ripe for the picking this year, but with the Bucks record against +.500 teams, I just can't see them getting past Atlanta or Cleveland in a 7 game set. The Bulls without Rose........MAYBE, but even that's a stretch. I didn't like this trade at first, because WIN NOW.........but this makes sense. It makes a lot of sense, and for the first time in forever, this team is making the right moves to build a long-term, sustainable, winning team. You just watch boys...... this bunch is going to be in a Finals in the next 5 years.
  10. My problem with pregame shows is that in a 162 game season, there is no need for a half hour pre-game show before each and every game. A half hour pre-game before the first game in a series would be fine, or even the first game of the week, but a half hour before every game is wholly unnecessary.
  11. People are really up in arms about an extra 10-15 minutes in average game time versus 10+ years ago? It's another manufactured controversy. I don't think it's manufactured. I wouldn't call it a 'controversy', but I do believe that the average fan would prefer a shorter game, yes. And yes, I do believe that the 'average' fan should absolutely be catered to to some degree. When you have players doing things that are absolutely unnecessary (adjusting batting gloves after every single pitch) that add completely unnecessary time to a game, then yes, I can see the reason to create rule changes to take that time off the game.
  12. Isn't part of that 8 pitch warm up so that the pitcher can get comfortable with the mound? I know every pitcher creates his own nooks and crannies, and the field mound will have different peaks and valleys than the bullpen mounds will. Maybe they can find that comfort spot in less than 8 pitches, but I never assumed the 8 pitches was to further warm up, but to acclimate to the landscape of the mound itself.
  13. I don't mind 3 hour games, but batters that adjust their gloves after every pitch (Braun) drive me insane. There's no need to adjust your gear when you didn't swing.
  14. What?? I know Knight is not an elite PG........ But why??
  15. If you take out the pitchers, the '27 Yankees had a .906 OPS. That's absolutely ridiculous, by any standard, in any era. The league OPS that year was a really high, but not outrageous .751.
  16. Bucks buying out Sanders.... http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/12332804/milwaukee-bucks-larry-sanders-begin-buyout-talks
  17. Awesome article about Giannis. http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/2/11/7980435/giannis-antetokounmpo-nba-slam-dunk-contest-2015 Don't bother reading the comment section. 3/4ths of it is "he travelled/no he didn't travel", but the article itself is a great read about the evolution of his game.
  18. I loved this line, and it made me actually chuckle out loud Bobby Bonilla, for example, will be getting money from the Mets until the sun explodes
  19. This one is an absolute ass-kicker. Here in Janesville, everything was shut down by 5 pm. Most roads except the main drag are pretty much impassable. Even in my Jeep, getting out of my driveway to get my daughter from work was almost impossible.
  20. I can't begin to express what a terrible idea this is. Unbelievable.
  21. Not to jump on your math, but if you got 20 million out of the Rangers, that would leave the Brewers on the hook for 94 million. The question you have to ask is this. If Fielder were previously NEVER a Brewer........would you sign him RIGHT NOW to a 94 million dollar contract? I wouldn't.
  22. Found this take from that article interesting..... The Milwaukee Bucks have been among the NBA's most pleasant surprises this season, but maintaining their high level of play may prove difficult as the league has suspended center Larry Sanders. Sanders hasn't been an integral part of the puzzle this year. Would they be better if Sanders was getting 10 boards and 3 blocks a game? Absolutely. But he hasn't been 'that guy' this year, and they're over .500 right now, and he's been gone 10 games anyways. This snippet from the article just doesn't make a lot of sense.
  23. I was thinking about some scouting/drafting things that we passed on, but the draft in MLB is so much more of a crapshoot than any other sport that I didn't really think it fit the bill of what the OP was going for. There's guys in EVERY draft that every team passed on that nobody thought would amount to anything, let alone first round stars.
  24. I can look at the stats and know rationally that Thomas was sucking hardcore, but in 1983 when the Brewers traded Gorman Thomas for Rick Manning, my soul was absolutely crushed.
  25. I think there's almost consensus agreement that the Molitor debacle would rank at or near the top in franchise history of "SERIOUSLY?" moves. Moving Braun off of third was absolutely the right move. He wasn't just bad at third. He was historically bad. He was all-time bad. He was among the worst ever bad. He was chewing up a huge chunk of his positive offensive value with how bad he was at third base. I know a fair number of people think defensive value is over-stated, but time and again, it can't be overstated how brutally awful Braun was at 3rd base. It was the right call.
