  1. I'm leaning towards things that could possibly happen 1.) Let's get rid of the silly all-star home field advantage thing (I think we all agree on this. 2.) As far as the DH goes, I think the AL and the Players union would fight this going away tooth and nail. I'd argue that the AL should get rid of it, but I think that's a fight that (at this point) is not worth fighting. 3.) Institute harsher penalties for HBP retaliation nonsense, at league president discretion. Something like the McCutcheon HBP we saw from the D-Backs the other night would result in a 20 - 30 game ban for the pitcher, and a 10 - 15 game ban for the manager. That would/could put an end to this idiocy. 4.) International draft. 5.) Weight the competitive balance lottery based on operating revenue as well as market size and such.
  2. Sure does feel like a fluke homer is the most we could see. Inning and our MLB rank for runs scored: 1: 2 2: 5 3: 8 4: 12 5: 13 6: 16 7: 22 8: 21 9: 23 Ex: 17 That is amazing. And actually matches up with my perception (and I'm sure others) that we stop scoring after jumping on the board early.
  3. Dave says "The Cubs are putting together this Nuculus"
  4. Ya. Like go to Nashville. I know that's harsh. His D is good. But he is just atrocious at the plate It's not that harsh. The Brewers sent down Hardy when he was hitting a similar average but at least with some power. And that wasn't during a pennant race. He's lucky we don't have a replacement better than Herrera. I know this sounds bad, but I'd rather see Herrera up there getting some PA's right now.
  5. Keep playing infield in Ron. It is definitely helping.
  6. Nobody knows what will happen in any game before it happens.
  7. To illustrate......... Gallardo has been similar to or better than Peralta by almost any measure you can imagine. Same Era. Better FIP. More K/9, Lower WHIP....... and in the same number of starts Gallardo has 7 wins, to Peralta's 14. Wins are almost ENTIRELY a luck based stat.
  8. Chris Capuano went 18 - 12 back in 2006. I believe he was our last 18 game winner. That seems do-able. 20 wins is going to be tough against that schedule.
  9. You can immediately take the best player in the league out of the MVP consideration (Tulo), because he plays for a terrible team, and he's missed significant time. Stanton is next, and he plays for a mediocre team. If the Marlins hang around, or even sneak into a wild-card spot, I think MVP is Stanton's to lose. McCutcheon is having another really good year, and if he gets back on the field, he could be a strong candidate as well. Kershaw is in the mix. He's been STUPID good this year. ERA under 2. Lucroy has been really good, but that OPS was up around .900, now it's down to .860. He needs to get hot to really plant himself in the middle of the MVP discussion.
  10. This may help..... http://images.yuku.com.s3.amazonaws.com/image/png/c9d353e39d8482d662aeccd33714043db48f73b.png I give Luc about a 5% chance of winning.
  11. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/verlaju01.shtml He was bad in 2008. WHen he was 25 years old. You can expect a guy to bounce back when he's 25. I don't know when he's 31.
  12. Yeah, he really does swing at just about everything. He's exciting, but if he doesn't stop swinging at everything, he's going to get figured out quick.
  13. oh my bleeding Jesus, just let BA do the game by himself if this ever happens again. This is horrible.
  14. Much needed insurance run. Terrible throw. Might have been a close play with a good throw.
  15. I hope Castro shows up in the new Biogenesis report now.
  16. He's got leading, um 60, um, his appearing 60 time, appearances, most in league. What didn't you understand??? Like I said, completing a full sentence for Davey can sometimes be a chore.
  17. They got the video on MLB.com ... It is hillarious. That isn't how you play the game. Marlins will have to lead off game with a hbp to teach them a lesson Just watched it. Pathetic.
