  1. None of that can be right! Loe is better the more he pitches. Roenicke said so!
  2. Yeah.........Morgan had some great moments last year, not the least of which was the walkoff hit against the D-Backs. However, given Morgan's age, history (both statistically and personally), I think attempting to re-cash in on the Plush craze has the potential to backfire on the Brewers. I'm not saying that Morgan will implode, but if the possibility is there that he's overvalued because of some of his highlight reel stuff last year, I'd say go for cashing him in if there's a GM out there willing to overpay. Morgan's walk rate took an alarming dip last year, and if he hits .270, and walks at the same rate, he's going to be an abysmal offensive contributer.
  3. The last 2 years, Hart has been among the top 30 hitters (by OPS) among qualifiers, in all of baseball. Not only that, he's relatively inexpensive. Yes, he plays an offense-premium position, and is at absolute best, mediocre defensively. But having cost controlled, top-30 production is something in the Brewers favor. I'm also baffled by the at least dozen or so trade proposals every few months in which we're always giving away Hart for an inferior player or players. Doesn't make any sense.
  4. I have to wonder if Aoki is going to want to play in Milwaukee, given the current alignment. Sure, he'd get to start for the first 50 games, but after that, if Morgan/Gomez are still here, there's not exactly going to be much playing time for him. I'd think it's at least possible he looks at the playing time situation in Milwaukee, and decides to stay in Japan.
  5. Yeah, if A-Ram were 28 instead of 34 (or so), I don't think a single person would have a problem with a 3 year deal here.
  6. I've heard 3/34. If that's true (or anything close to that) I'm ok with this. I wanted A-Ram, but only on a 2 year deal. As it is, I'm jus glad it's not for like 16 mil per. I think he'll be ok (850-ish OPS) the first 2 years, that third year is a concern, for sure.
  7. Where does this 'innocent until proven guilty' stuff keep coming up? This isn't a court of law. The comparisons to people getting arrested are off base. If you pop positive, you're guilty. You can appeal, and maybe the appeal turns up facts or evidence that do not support the initial positive test, but I really think the 'innocent until proven guilty' line simply doesn't apply here. Braun might be a great guy, but he's also got a cocky streak a mile wide. Is it really that much of a stretch that he was willing to take the risk to get back from the injury that he'd do something like this? I'm not saying he did or he did not, but the people saying 'there's no way Braun would do something like this' are just closing their eyes to possibilities. This sucks. It sucks hard. As I push into my late 30's, I find myself less and less enchanted with organized sports. Stuff like college football teams switching conferences every other year, the steroid nonsense, and then billionaires fighting with multi-millionaires over how to split billions of dollars will do that to a person. I suppose it's not unusual.
  8. The good news is that Gonzalez only had 50-some RBI last year, unlike th 78 RBI Yuni had in 2010, so RRR won't be tempted to bat him 6th based on a stat that is comletely and arbitrarily based on where you bat in the lineup.
  9. It's easy to overlook, but Yount's 1982 season might have been, at the time, the single best offensive season a shortstop had had in league history. Obviously the glut of offensive minded shortstops over the last 15 years have overshadowed that to a large degree, but other than maybe a few seasons from Ernie Banks, it's hard to find a shortstop who had an overall season that compares to 1982.
  10. When you consider that over 300 plate appearnces from first basemen (Marrero and LaRoche) were from guys putting up OPS's of less than .600, it's hard to NOT see Prince being a huge improvement for them. Add onto what you said, the expected improvement from Espinosa in his soph season, and I'll even assume that Werth will improve on his pretty bad 2011, and with adding Fielder, the Nats could be close to an 88 win projection.
  11. I bet the guy who voted him 10th voted Upton #1. I don't know HOW a writer was able to justify voting Upton #1. Voting privileges should be denied.
  12. That would be the worst defensive infield in the history of the game. Maybe, but match that infield's offense if you can...You've got an .800 OPS "SS", a .950 OPS 1B (of which there's about half a dozen in the game), and 2 guys at 2B and 3B, that we don't even know if they're going to produce at the MLB level yet. "Match their offense?" That's not really that hard.
  13. I prefer the vampires like John Carpenter's Vampires. Or the Lost Boys. Vampires that kill without remorse, and bathe in buckets of blood every time they feed. These sally Vampires that talk about feelings and stuff suck.
  14. While I will be the first to say Myers is a hack, and sparkly vampires are........something, she's certainly not the first writer to 're-write' vampire mythology. Anne Rice's vampires were vastly different from Bram Stokers. Heck, watch the Blade movies, with Wesley Snipes. In that one, they put on sunscreen and walk around freely during the day. Many writers have rewritten vampire lore, Myers is just the first one to turn them into whining emo's who fall in love with uninteresting teenage girls.
  15. I have a 20 year old daughter, who was the right age to fall into Stephanie Myers trap when the books started coming out. And really, anyone that watches tv or is exposed to media would have a hard time NOT knowing about it, as the saturation of Twilight/crappy vampire romance has reached it's absolute zenith.
  16. Stephanie Myers has single handedly destroyed literature for this entire generation. Walk down the book aisle at any retailer, and 70% of the fiction is now cheap vampire romance knock offs. There's no room on the shelves for anything that appeals to someone who isn't a vapid 15 year old emo girl. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I realize that any animated movie not made by Pixar or Dreamworks tends to get immediately dismissed, but we caught Dragon Hunters on Netflix last night, and I was completely caught off guard. This is a French movie, with Forrest Whitaker voicing the lead character. It's about a pair of rogues/con artists/fighters who pose as knights and promise to kill a dragon, and end up actually having to make good. The story is pretty straightforward, but I have to say, the art and animation style is simply amazing. The colors are vibrant, the environments are creative, bizarre, and really, just.......neat, and the character designs are over the top. If for no other reason, watch this movie for the bizarre and amazing art/animation style, and you probably won't be disappointed. Total package? solid. 8/10
  18. I know it's just a preliminary meeting, but the Marlins signing Pujols would be fantastic. What would make it even better would be a one hour ESPN special in which Albert spills "The Decision" by saying "I'm taking my talent to Miami!" http://espn.go.com/mlb/st...rida-marlins-reports-say
  19. Pujols to Boston? To DH? He's still one of the top 10 defensive 1B in the game. He's not going to resign himself to DH at this stage of his career. No way, no how.
  20. If you're going to trade away pieces like Thornberg for a guy that will bury guys like Green, the guy you're getting needs to be a slam dunk upgrade over what you already had. Green could potentially outproduce Headley. Maybe not. I'm just saying, if you're giving up valuable pieces, the upgrades need to be more obvious than the one from Green to Headley.
  21. I didn't indicate that they haven't. But let me ask it this way. If Sheets were not an ex-Brewer, would we still see the amount of interest in bringing him in as there is? Let's take sentimentality out of the equation.
  22. No. I'll be glad when Benny's been out of baseball long enough for the suggestions of bringing him back to stop.
  23. Hart's been a better hitter than Wright for the past 2 years, and he makes less money. Why are people SO eager to get rid of Hart, especially in deals that might not even make the team better?
  24. I'm kinda 'meh' about this. I never disliked Provus, but never really warmed up to him either. As far as BA and Rock, I couldn't stand Rock when he was teamed with both Vasgersian and Powell, but he and BA have a pretty good team banter between them, and Rock's much more tolerable, if not even a little bit likeable for me now. He still says plenty of stupid stuff, but for some reason the broadcast team seems to work much better with a 'straight' guy like BA paired with Rock, rather than a yuckster like Vasgersian.
