  1. I 2nd the motion that Brady Clark can't run the bases to save a life. I thought one of Cirillo's redeeming qualities was that he could "do the little things" and "move runners over"?
  2. Fans have been coming out in droves all season long to see a team hovering just below .500, and people are complaining about one weekend series that didn't draw well. Wow.
  3. So, we beat Clemens, put up a decent fight against Pettite, and are well on the way to beating Oswalt. Is a certain sportswriter with initials DO still going to claim this team has no guts?
  4. Tell ya what. The Brewers have put to rest the NL Cy Young race.
  5. Well, the Astros had the bases loaded with one out, and got one run out of the deal, leaving them loaded to end the inning. They got no heart! Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll behave now.
  6. When people are spouting crap like "hopefully Branyan gets hurt in the off-season", then it's time. And just because someone states "There is 0% chance that Russel Branyan will be back next year" doesn't make it true. The only guys that KNOW that are Doug Melvin, and Russ Branyan, and heck, they might not even know. I find it rather insulting and derogatory when people state this kind of stuff like they * know*, and everyone else is wrong. Heck, why don't I just start saying "There is NO chance Ohka will be with the team next year" and then bash everyone who disagrees. I might be wrong, but that doesn't stop me from bullishly slogging ahead. I can clearly see why the thread was locked, and rightly so, IMO.
  7. I think when you're comparing players from different teams, ZR, RF and the like don't do a lot of good. Player X (A center fielder) might have a stunning zone rating, but play for a team with a lot of flyball pitchers. Player Y (another CFer) might have a crap Zone Rating, and play for a team that employs a good number of groundball type guys. BUT, if you're comparing guys on your own team, maybe the numbers take on a little more meaning. If Krynzel had a big enough sample that it actually meant something, I believe we could compare he and Clark, and at least draw some semi-solid conclusions.
  8. If Week's finger is hurting so badly, why not give him some time off? Is there any chance of hurting it worse?
  9. So Hoffy, you gonna give them credit for having this mythical quality that no one can name, quantify, or judge, after getting 2 straight hits with RISP?
  10. Kid's been doing nothing but outhitting Hall in the 2nd half of the season. Good thing we didn't send him back to AAA after one tough month against major league pitching.
  11. I'm guessing that whoever posted that nonsense is not actually a regular poster here. More likely, it's one of the regulars from over there with an alias account having fun, or just a troll.
  12. I'd say yes for sure. He was as good a base stealer as there was. I know nobodie's knocked him for his drug habit, but IF that were to be used as a reason to exclued Raines, then we might want to pull Molitor (and a ton of other guys) out as well.
  13. I've always been baffled as to why Simmons got hardly any push for the hall, let alone admittance. Considering he put those numbers up mostly as a catcher, and in parks that favored pitchers, I would vote yes.
  14. I guess I just don't see the point in getting up in arms about it *either way*. One inning in a 10 run game isn't going to make or break JDLR. Maybe he wasn't feeling good, or whatever. Maybe Ned forgot he had him, or DLR pissed Ned off, or ANYTHING. Point is, one inning isn't going to be any kind of "difference maker" in the long run, IMO.
  15. I'm finding it hard to complain about much after this win. Nice to see big offense after the Houston series.
  16. Mr. Delgado, You've been http://www.students.uni-marburg.de/~Wisskir2/krazzz/owned%2520baby.jpg
  17. As long as Cappy's ok, I see no reason to pull him. Our bullpen has been taxed lately, and you never know when they're going to be needed for extended duty again.
  18. That J.J. kid can't hit at all. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. Is it just me, or does it seem like Rickie routinely makes the amazing play and blow the routine ones? Hasn't been blowing the routing ones *as much* lately. The fact that he CAN make the amazing plays gives me hope. You can teach a guy how to field. You can't teach the kind of athleticism he already possesses.
  20. That play by Rickie was stoopid good. Wow. Kid's defense looks like it might be improving, no?
  21. Cappy only at 76 entering the 7th. Hopefully he goes at least 8. I 2nd this motion. Lately my trust in our bullpen is at a season low.
  22. Fair question: does Cappy have the stuff to be a legit number two guy? You guys can see. I will rely on your opinions. I think realistically he's going to top out as a *good* number 3 type pitcher. He doesn't have the velocity to really be a dominating guy, without a knee buckling curve or killer slider. Just my 2 cents, at any rate.
  23. I may be wrong, but I thought Brian and/or others have said game threads are the one place where one word posts/one liners are "ok"? Not to make a big issue out of it, but I do remember reading that somewhere on here.
  24. Wow, seems like we haven't had an inning like that in a long time. Probably hasn't actually HAPPENED in a long time. Cappy's gonna cruise from here on out. Book it!
  25. Sorry, RoCoBrewfan, it was not my intention to misquote your intended message, rather I wanted to bring to the front that this is really the basis for all of these discussions No offense taken, I just wanted to make sure the point of what I was trying to say was clear, because I can see how it might have been a little "fuzzy" Even if I use "their" standards, instead of "my" standards, I still think Rice should be in. I've already explained why, so I won't go into it, just to say that I think he's "in".
