  1. Echoing sentiments above...... Ferentz seems like kind of a d-bag. I usually root for the B-10 in bowl games. Anyone but Ohio State. Edit to add, I don't "hate" the Gophers the way most Gopher fans hate UW, but PJ Fleck seems like kind of an ingratiating (word I can't say here).
  2. So they should start a guy who has four INTs and three sacks in 20 career pass attempts? Army has the #4 ranked rush defense in the country and that's after giving up 198 yards rushing to WI. They have the 39th ranked passing defense in the country and Andre Carter is 4th in the nation in sacks. And they have the #2 ranked rushing offense in the country. I think some people underestimate how good Army is. before yesterday, they had played ga state, western Kentucky, UConn, ball state , and Miami Oh.... so those gaudy defense stats need to have some context. those aren't exactly powerhouses they've been playing.
  3. I felt bad for the announcers who had to stay there and talk that game up like it was anything other than the most boring game possibly, ever. Brutal, boring, ineffective offense vs the triple option. Just might as well go outside and watch my neighbors grass grow up around his 5 rusty, non-running lawn mowers.
  4. has nothing to do with money. Wong has been worth what he's paid. trading him based on a 4 game sample doesn't make a whole lotta sense.
  5. the ruling on the field,.......... stands.
  6. even if that's a pass, it's a backwards pass. live ball.
  7. idk how that wasn't holding on RT on 3rd and 8, lol
  8. this offense is just putrid. they're probably gonna win this game. but this is like watching paint dry.
  9. I don't know what we have for QB the next few years, but it's probably gonna be a good idea for mertz to think about the transfer portal. fresh start and all that. this fanbase is (rightly so) pretty sour on him, and if he has any hopes of turning things around for himself, it probably won't happen here.
  10. this makes me laugh. when I was a kid, my grandparents lived in Quincy, outside of Adams/friendship. When we passed the HUGE pines on county Z north of the Dells, that's when I knew we were "up north".
  11. getting spanked by Turdue took care of that.
  12. I'd hate to trade Wong based on a 4 game sample. Kershaw has had some stinky playoff performances and the Dodgers don't seem to be in a rush to move him.
  13. How do we move JBJ with that salary? this is the optimism thread! I THIS thread there's always a way.
  14. Boston La Atlanta Houston B.L.A.H.
  15. The biggest issue I take with the "all in" approach is how much does it actually increase the odds of *winning* a WS versus what they're doing now? The Dodgers are literally "all in" every year, and they won the west division title 8 years in a row before they broke through and won the WS. We could win the WS next year by staying true to the vision that Stearns has built for the club, or not. We're making the playoffs 4 years in a row now, and getting a shot every year might be the best way. We could blow it all up for a 2 year window and increase the odds by how much? 5% more? Realistically how much WILL Attanasio increase the payroll? We can throw numbers out there all day, but the reality is that we KNOW he's not gonna run deep into the red to take a shot, he honestly just isn't. So let's just say he bumps the payroll up to 150 - 160 million and we get a few big bats or whatever, but it takes selling off some of our long term controllable properties to do it. Does that actually increase the odds of this team winning a world series? At this point, I just want one. I don't care if this team wins multiple WS in my lifetime, I just want one, and taking as many shots at it as possible (seems) like the best way to go about it.
  16. This isn't to say that Keston Huira can be an average or even below average outfielder, but remember that Yount moved from SS to the outfield because of his throwing shoulder surgeries. Like OSS said, it's a different kind of throw. It's often a longer throw, and if you don't have a strong arm, guys might occasionally take an extra base on you, but it's easier to hide a noodle arm in the OF than it is on the IF.
  17. I hate Joc Pederson, and that alone is enough for me to root against Atlanta. That check swing call that the umps wouldn't even have the guts to say after the game was right or wrong "we don't wanna comment on that" lolol .... oof. I can't see myself watching another inning the rest of the way out. I would have watched a Rays game ..... Rays/WSox would have been a fun series. I just can't get into Red Sox Astros at all.
  18. Stearns, like every executive, has a budget. wanting him to run in the red so you can get what you want is a pipe dream. mark a didn't buy the team to lose money. even for a year. being angry about it won't make it a reality. calling people names won't either. Lets knock it off with the childish insults and name calling, for crying out loud. everyone.....
  19. Yelich has, in the recent past, been a good hitter. Id wager his odds of being passably able are better than you winning the power ball.
  20. Someone mentions trading Yelich every couple days like it's a real thing that could actually happen. Dude is 190 million dollars of negative value. The best, realistic, and only thing the Brewers can do right now is hope he takes the winter to get his mind and body right, see if he can even become like an .850 OPS dude for a few seasons going forward (doubt it, but maybe?) and be a semi-productive guy while they still have the trio of ace pitchers under team control.
  21. Again, it is the most successful season in the Milwaukee Brewers history, you just need to understand that much... It still ended in a loss, but it is the high water mark because it is the only time we ever got the the World series. I get it though, it gets old hanging our hat on a loss, but until we have a better outcome, it is the furthest we have ever made it in a single season. I'll say this ..... I was around, and old enough to be deeply invested in baseball in 82, and I'm TIRED of hearing about 82. I enjoyed the crap out of 08, 11, and 18. To a lesser extent these last few playoff seasons. They also ended in losses, but there were big moments in those seasons that really gave enjoyment and enthusiasm to a new generation of brewer fans. I can still watch that base hit by Tony Plush that brought Gomez home to win game 5 of the NLDS in '11 and be like "wow, what a moment!!". I wish it was a WS win, but it's still a big defining moment for this generation. 82 was awesome, but just .... man, I'm kinda over it.
  22. There's a guy that needs to spend the winter taking a long hard look at himself and think about what kind of ballplayer he wants to be going forward. Cuz ..... seriously. He sucks right now.
