  1. Concession sales must be up. This has gotta be the longest "Last Call" ever.
  2. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but the team hasn't shown me any sign that they're starting to come around. Our schedule was supposed to be "easy" since the all-star break. We've only fallen farther behind in the standings.
  3. If we were a little closer in the race, I could see maybe rolling the dice on a guy like Smoltz. But I just can't see us catching the Cardinals at all this year. Smoltz won't help us in 2010. I say just stay away.
  4. I like that Bowden kid the Sox have as well. I wonder if we could sweeten the deal enough to get Buchholz and Bowden. Probably just a pipe dream, but those two would really help out the quality and depth of our rotation for next year.
  5. He is playing as we speak for Toronto. He hit a HR. Just wondering if he would/should be playing if Toronto didn't pull him back.
  6. He did carry my fantasy team for the first two weeks of April 2008. Maybe he's still got some left in the tank.
  7. No disrespect to Vargas, but the question I keep asking myself is "Why?". Why were time and resources used to make this trade happen when it does absolutely nothing for this team? The team has not been improved present or future. If we're gonna throw in the towel and focus on 2010, do it. Trade away the pieces that we can't use in the future for pieces that have a chance for the future. Try to finish in the lower half of teams so we don't have to give as much if we sign any FAs and to also improve our draft status. If we still think we have a chance to win the division, show it. Unload some prospects for a SP that will actually make a difference. We are no better off with Vargas on the roster than we were without him. And he doesn't help us at all in 2010. He will not help us any more this year than some AAA scrub that we could have called up. Personally, I would rather have given a chance to some of our minor leaguers just to see what they can do at the big league level. Vargas will make .9 million this year. Pedro Martinez signed for 1 million. Seriously, I'd rather Melvin just roll the dice and try to sign Byrd and/or Glavine for that kind of money.
  8. If Vargas still works as slow as he did in his first stint in MKE, the games will last much longer. This a great move for concession sales at MP. Great move by Melvin!
  9. Why is it so hard for people to understand that Melvin DID offer Fielder a long term deal? It is not Melvin's fault that Boras is the greediest human alive.
  10. We've had a very tired BMW M6 in our lot for almost two years now. Just found out that the car was originally owned by Bud Selig.
  11. Is the name Marley the dog equivalent to Michael Bolton?
  12. That lineup looks worse that the one we have out there now.
  13. Unless Hardy somehow signs a long term deal within the next week and a half, I just don't see how Melvin could trade Escobar. And I don't want to see Hardy sign that long term deal either.
  14. Halladay wouldn't give up 4 home runs in the first 3 innings either.
  15. I thought I heard Rock mention in last nights game that Sveum had sunflower seeds in his mouth during the altercation and that the ump was hit with some of those seeds. He didn't state if they were spit out intentionally or if it was an accident. Either way, the three game suspension doesn't seem as harsh as it did before.
  16. Three games seems a little bit harsh. Not that I think his absence is gonna hurt the team in any way.
  17. This is an epic tear-jerker.
  18. Link Looks like reality finally set in for Pedro and his contract demands. I was hoping the Phillies would pay him a bit more in order to keep them out of trade discussions for an ace. From what I have read, they are pretty strapped financially and don't want to add much more to the payroll. I don't know if this move hurts them enough to drop out of the running for a Halladay or Lee. I doubt it.
  19. Alarms are more of an annoyance than a deterrent. Be prepared for unexpected no-start conditions for no reason whatsoever, and dead batteries. Unless you hate your neighbors and don't mind waking up in the middle of the night to shut the thing off, I'd skip it. Working in the auto repair business, I've seen way more problems caused by an alarm than it's worth. Besides, the dude is gonna take what he wants regardless. They know the tricks.
  20. If you live in Milwaukee, this would be the last kinda thing you'd wanna be putting in your car. I've had so many friends who live there that have had their cars broken into and/or stolen, it isn't funny. I'm kinda spoiled living somewhere I can leave the keys in the ignition. I'm kinda refusing to move to Milwaukee despite my fiancé's wishes just because I know I won't be able to have anything nice without some thug assuming ownership of it. If I had to move down there I'd probably just sell my cars and pick up the ugliest beater I could find. Sorry for the rant. just don't want you to spend a ton of cash on something like that and have it get ripped off. Because I doubt your insurance will cover something like that. As for ideas, I have none. Maybe watch a few episodes of "Pimp My Ride". They're always installing stuff that makes perfect sense, like 3 flat screen TVs in your trunk.
  21. I'd only consider it if they took Hall & Suppan's contract. Well maybe just Hall if they throw us a decent pitching prospect back our way.
  22. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid with McGehee at all. I'm personally waiting for the bottom to drop as well and in no way see him as some long term solution to any of our needs. I'm just using him as an example of a scrap heap guy who is productive. Yes he's playing out of his mind right now, but I was more confident in him to produce in April & May than I was with Hall. Yes McGehee can't play SS, but do you really think the Brewers are gonna give Hall the keys to SS if Hardy gets injured? Even if we didn't have Escobar, I still don't see Hall at SS in that situation. My opinion is that Hall is not only hurting this team with his horrible approach at the plate, he is hurting this team by using up a roster spot that could easily be filled with a scrap heap guy that in all likelihood would outperform Hall. That roster spot already costs us 8 mil. I just think that the roster spot would be a bit more productive at 8.4 mil instead.
  23. How much is McGehee making? I heard he can play catcher too.
  24. Actually I think it would be pretty easy to find someone who plays better than Hall for the league minimum.
  25. Link Looks like Clay if finally getting the call up.
