  1. Here's a list of teams that have made it since then: Yankees, Braves, Marlins, Indians, Padres, Mets, Diamondbacks, Angels, Giants, Red Sox, Cardinals, White Sox, Astros, Tigers, Rockies, Phillies, Rays. That's 17 teams in the last 14 years. I don't see how things are so different now. Add in that we now have 6 divisions and a wild card, the chances have been increased that any organization can get into the playoffs and go on a hot streak and win it all. The Yankees happened to get hot at the right time this year. Would everyone be so venomous if the Yankees lost out in the ALDS and the Twins kept up their hot streak to get to the World Series?
  2. They also bought their 2008 3rd place finish in the AL East. I can't really get bent out of shape when the front office does everything to put the best possible team they can on the field.
  3. I miss his wife.
  4. I guarantee that known non-tippers get their food messed with. My brother used to deliver pizzas and work in restaurants. My sister too. They would tell me some crazy things they and others would do to peoples food because they knew they were non-tippers. Better watch out stoutdude.
  5. There's a a couple faceboook acquaintances of mine trying to accuse President Obama of halting the release of some crappy Diamond Rio song that was released in 2006. Do they honestly think the President has time to mess with some over the hill country band?
  6. Someone should tell Joe Buck that 1991 wants it's haircut back.
  7. I have a suspicion that the Swisher play was to make up for the botched pick-off call at 2B just before that.
  8. The Marlins, Rays and Rockies can't make it every year. Sometimes the teams favored to win it all actually fulfill those predictions. The Yankees have been winning pennants since the beginning of time. If you average it out, it comes to about one every three years. Seeing as how they haven't been to the big dance since 2003, I'd say they are due. Personally, I am really enjoying watching Sabathia completely dominate. I'm licking my chops to watch him go against Cliff Lee in game 1.
  9. I didn't see Nate name Escobar at all. His proposal was Hardy/Gamel/Salome/Low A Pitcher. I'd think it's safe to assume that Escobar is untouchable.
  10. I saw some interviews of Cardinal players on MLB Network this morning and they were actually blaming the fans twirling white towels as the reason Holliday missed the catch. That's classy.
  11. Don't forget Wes Helms & Turnbow.
  12. I was there for about a total of two hours. It was a pretty rough place from what I could tell. I'd go walk around Camden Yards though. Seems to be a really nice ballpark.
  13. An easy way to get around the depreciation of cars is to buy a classic car. I have three (1961, 1963, 1973) and a $500 winter beater. As long as you maintain a classic car, it will never lose value and more than likely go up in value. Depending what you get, they can be much cheaper to maintain than a modern car, and are simple enough to maintain yourself. Insurance is cheap. They are like savings accounts on wheels. My fiance gets on me a lot because I live right at my absolute means financially. All my income goes to paying off bills, investing, luxuries, etc. None of it really ever goes to savings. If I ever get into a jam, I'll just sell a car or two. Because the cars are my emergency savings, emergency savings that I enjoy as daily transportation. I know this is thinking way out of the box, but it works for me.
  14. The Ford Flex is another very interesting vehicle. The name sucks but I've read a ton of great reviews for the Flex. It's too new to really get any reviews on reliability, but Ford has been making great cars for the last few years now.
  15. Well the Tigers screwed me over. Now I'm shooting for the Rockies to win it all against the Twins in a TV ratings nightmare. And now I need the Rox to make it to the NLCS for the big StubHub payday.
  16. I'd love to bring Olivo in. His bat is pretty underrated for a catcher. He's 31 now so he still probably has a couple decent years left in him. I'd be on board for a 2-3 year deal at 4-5 million per. How's his defense?
  17. All I ask is that the Tigers make the ALCS. I won the Tigers ALCS ticket lottery and just spent two grand on 4 seats for 4 games in Detroit. If Detroit ends up playing Boston in the ALCS, I stand a chance of making a $2K profit or more. Personally, I am shooting for a Tigers/Rockies WS. I've lived in both states and wouldn't mind seeing them duke it out.
  18. My post should be the last one because I posted it with 2 outs left in the bottom of the 10th yesterday.
  19. 1. Braun 2. Gallardo 3. Fielder 4. Escobar 5. Weeks 6. Parra 7. Hoffman 8. Coffey 9. Bush 10. Felix Hernandez 11. Rivera 12. Lopez 13. Heether 14. Counsell 15. Cameron 16. Gerut 17. Hart 18. Roy Halladay 19. Stetter 20. DiFelice 21. Vargas 22. Butler 23. Lucroy 24. Narveson 25. Johnny Gomes Both Macha and Melvin back.
  20. Lawrie would be my sleeper. He seems to have the skills yet he didn't rake in Low A. Although he is still very young. From the rumblings I've heard, he isn't really the best of teammates. I'm not sure how true any of it is. But like Laporta, I wouldn't be surprised to hear a little cheering from players and coaches if Lawrie gets traded.
  21. Going off topic....I was on vacation all last week and failed to keep up on any news. But when I got back I was watching MLB Network and they were buzzing through a bunch of highlights from the past week or something. I wasn't paying full attention at the time but I swear they showed some dude making a marriage proposal to Trenni on the show. I'm hoping it's just a bad dream because my heart is shattered if it's true. Anyone else see this?
  22. I'm rooting for the Rockies only because I was lucky enough to score tickets to both NLDS games in Denver. I'm gonna sell them on StubHub and hopefully make a nice profit.
