  1. I hate snow! Why can't it just be below zero instead? It may be cold, but at least it makes for easier driving. If today is a precursor to the rest of the week, I'm not going to be very happy.
  2. I'm ashamed to admit I probably haven't read a book in over 5 years. When I was in college, I took as many literature courses as allowed just because I enjoyed the reading.
  3. I live in Madison, so that may not help, retail-wise. I like to hit Knuckleheads on State St. when I'm downtown. A decent selection and a large walk-in humidor. Only drawback is I have to be downtown to go there. I have ordered cigars online a few times, as does my Dad, and have had very good results. Thompson Cigar out of Tampa always has a great selection in their catalogs including bundles and package deals. They almost always have some sort of cigar deal that includes a cherry tabletop humidor (Which is what I have), and is perfect for holding 10-15 cigars in a single row. I have different levels of favorites regarding price and sometimes I will try something new based on appearance/price, etc. My favorites are Macanudo, Cohiba, Rocky Patel, Fuente and Punch. I would prefer Cohiba all the time, but they are quite pricey. For example, they have This sampler for $49. It includes 25 cigars and the same humidor I linked above, which they sell on its own for $30.
  4. I'm glad Charter (internet) has now made ESPN360.com available and will be showing the game as I lost ESPN Classic on DirecTV when they changed some sports programming.
  5. I haven't seen it yet, but I really wasn't looking for it either. We've got a big display of that Dew Game Fuel stuff at $2.29/12 pack. I'd think the throwback would have some special display, but I may have missed it.
  6. My Mom's gift is easy every year. We get a picture taken of all the grandkids...first year we did it, she was beyond thrilled...we saw tears. Now, she comes along and picks out the clothes. Whatever, as long as she's happy.
  7. I haven't seen the throwbacks yet, but I see we have the "Game Fuels" for $2.29/12 pack. "Game Fuel" makes me think bouncing off the walls until sunrise....
  8. Kobe (and Lebron) IS the NBA. Calls don't go against him. PERIOD.
  9. He was on Tony Bruno's show on Fox Radio last night (or Mon). Good interview, but I was 1/2 alseep and can't recall what was all said.
  10. I've always thought the refs in the NBA were biased. Donaghy's issues didn't help and my thoughts on the NBA have not changed after watching tonight's game. Not saying they're gambling, but they do prefer the stars. I'm going back to ignoring the NBA and wishing people cared about hockey.....
  11. Kobe=$$ to Stern. The Bucks= a shrug. Kobe gets every call just like Jordan used to...that is why I hate them both.
  12. Wow, I thought I might get a few rips from the NBA crew here, but now that I've refreshed the thread, I see we are all in agreement. I'm glad I don't go to games because seeing those Laker jerseys in the crowd would set me off like a Cubs jersey at Miller Park.
  13. I've been very sour on the NBA for quite some time, but I have snuck a few peeks at Bucks games this year and really want to get back into following them and then.... I watched most of tonight's game. The Bucks won this game, but not on the scoreboard. After watching that game, I remember why I hate the NBA. I can't believe players don't yell "Donaghy" at some of the calls. Bryant is an all-time great, no doubt, but the Bucks got screwed on so many calls. To me, it's the way the NBA is, but for the one night I invested my time in a game, I came away very disappointed to see it really hasn't changed....and then Bryant had to make that shot. I wish the Bucks well, but I can't handle watching the obvious favoritism. Maybe it's sour grapes, maybe it's how it is. Either way, it sucks.
  14. I may have gotten a tad dramatic there....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Peavey, I was on those same roads between 3-5 PM. Major thoroughfares in that condition are inexcusable. I want to leave this embarrassment of a town soon....why the locals praise Madison is beyond me... Mayor Dave should have his head buried in a snowbank in embarrassment for all of this...
  16. Madison is far more concerned with lakes than its citizens. This sucks.
  17. As commented on in the weather thread, the City of Madison's incompetence is bugging me. How you can let your city's streets turn into total crap and do nothing about it is ridiculous. Even better, they say they'll be out clearing snowbanks/blind spots today, so what do I see? A city dump truck pushing snow piles with its bumper followed by a jeep further pushing the snow followed by a city pickup with an orange siren followed by another orange pickup! That's great, 4 city vehicles to push a snow pile of snow 10 feet from a corner. Unreal. In regards to government, the city of Madison sucks.
  18. Don't even get me started about the condition of the roads in Madison. We went Christmas shopping today and while the Beltline was dry, everything else is ice potholes. It's ridiculous that people are still getting stuck on hills 48 hours after the storm. The city of Madison powers that be should be ashamed of themselves for the horrible conditions of their city right now. It's downright absurd. The Mayor needs to pull his head out of his special place and look around. UGH!
  19. Michigan football and Duke hoops in less than a month. Any chance we can Notre Dame in for a scrimmage to take care of everything I loathe in college sports?
  20. Do the signs get placed in the same location each week (i.e. over a special display cooler) or do they go to various different points of sale? If the signs go in the same spot, there are hard plastic (think acrylic picture frame) sign sleeves that can be hung anywhere and all you have to do is slide the paper/sign into a slot. No laminate or special paper needed and these things are permanent and durable. We use these in my store, but not because of the wetness factor, it's more for aesthetic value of not having scotch tape remnants on the walls. However, I'm guessing these signs have to be moved around to whatever product it is being promoted. Something like this: http://www.wallpocketcompany.com/plexipocket-acrylic-wall-sign-holder.jpg
  21. Doesn't everybody swear by "The Original Pancake House"? Seems like I always hear about that place, but I've never been there. I believe they have 2 locations in the Madison area, one on University Avenue towards Middleton about 1/2 mile past the Whitney Way/University intersection. The other one is in Monona in a strip mall you can see from the Beltline. These locations don't really fall into your Mifflin location, but both are a short drive. I think these are related to the historic location that once sat near Hilldale. Funny, I had no idea this was a national chain. I always figured it was something unique to Madison. Link
  22. If you're drinking The Dew for the taste, not the buzz, I believe the no caffeine variety is still available in 12 and 24 packs. As far as drinking it, I may have 1 a day, but this time of year (it's a seasonal drink) I stick with the Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash.
  23. Here are a couple of links I've dug up that may require some further research: Link Link
  24. I went to the Old Fashioned recently just to have an old fashioned. Very tasty. It's supposed to have a Wisconsin supper club feel to it. I cannot verify this as I was there after dinner service.
  25. Do you live in Madison or are you spending the night somewhere? What kind of food? There are so many restaurants near the square and all of them are an easy walk down State St. to the Union terrace where you can relax and enjoy the lakefront.
