  1. I've been watching as much as I can this weekend and I know there are some fellow fans among us. As some of you know, Versus (the network of the NHL) has been pulled from the DirecTV lineup due to a dispute with Comcast. If you want to get the Center Ice package, contact DirecTV and complain about Versus being pulled. I contacted them and got the entire season for under $80. If you are a borderline fan, they are offering Center Ice on a free preview for 4 weeks. That's great, but I'd be addicted after 4 weeks. Act now and go for the discount...I've read of some people getting better deals, but I was thrilled with 50% off. Politics aside, the NHL is loaded with exciting young players and I look forward to this new season. EDIT- Crap, sorry I posted this in Major Leagues. I'm fired up watching games tonight and thought I was in off-topic. Thanks in advance for moving it, mods! (edit 2: you're welcome - hawing)
  2. I'm sure they are having a good old time yukking it up, but they are usually oblivious to their surroundings, especially when driving, and usually quite loud out in public. It's annoying, but I need to get over it.
  3. I'm basically opposed to cell phones overall. Whenever I see someone wandering about in a store gabbing on their phone, I just want to grab the phone and smash it. Yeah, I know, I should get over it.
  4. I think they took care of that getting Brett Wallace in the Holliday trade.
  5. Hmm, not exactly a glowing review. I guess I'll give it a try and if I don't like it, back to the curb it goes.
  6. I have yet to try it out. The only thing not in the garbage were controllers. This guy was a major computer guy, I bet there were 100 different kinds of cables in 2 bins by the curb. There were also three computer servers, some palm computers and most impressively, a set of 1986 Minnesota Twins baseball cards with Kirby Puckett and Frank Viola being the top 2 cards....a fine commentary on today's youth, my 9 year old nephew just laughed at me when I showed him the cards and said they were only worth "like 50 cents". Ugh I intend to hook up the Xbox tomorrow, however, I have no games or controllers, so it's a cheap risk to take. Being that I'm not a gamer, I have no idea what the worth of this is,it just seemed stupid to throw away without trying. In all honesty, I was much happier to walk away with 2 cases of beer as payment for a (gag) Packers grill I won at a golf outing.
  7. http://common3.csnimages.com/lf/1/hash/1739/205074/1/Charcoal+Combo+Water+Smoker+%2F+Grill.jpg This is about what it looks like. There are 2 pans for the bottom and 2 grates for the top. Coals go all the way down, water goes in the next pan and the grill grates go at the top 2 levels. I'm not real familiar with how it all works, but I couldn't let it go in the garbage--especially with the price (free) being right.
  8. My first football Sunday of the year. I had no plans to drink it up, but as the day went on the beers kept going down--and still are. Sucks to have watched my team stink it up, but the Packers leveled it out for me. Best part is, I'm cooking 5 pounds of wings as I type. A huge load of buffalo wings and some Jamaican jerk as well.
  9. I was helping my sister move yesterday and the previous homeowner threw away a water smoker grill. Yeah, I swallowed my pride and took it home (along with an XBox in the trash). Basically, you put a pan of charcoal at the bottom with a pan of water above it and the grill grates above that. Anybody have one of these and have any cooking suggestions for me?
  10. What a shame. This was going to be their year. Nice to see Hendry accepting no responsibility and basically tucking his tail between his legs. As much as I hate the Cubs, it's hard not to enjoy them...
  11. No, what you need is a big ol' boat of a car, like some 1970s Lincoln and fasten a stuffed parrot to the hood or antenna. Cruise the town with the windows down, talking like a pirate at stop signs whn other cars roll up.
  12. I hope you've got that breakfast beer in hand, it's a football Saturday at UW.
  13. Yeah! They won't be playing that HORRIBLE song tonight!
  14. The thing that stands out most to me, is that in this age of divorce (especially Hollywood), Swayze was married for 34 years to a woman he met in his teens. That is incredible by any standards, let alone Hollywood. He was one of the truly good guys.
  15. Hardy again. That should ruffle some feathers.
  16. You may want to edit the title of this post, you have August dates listed.
  17. I tend to pop into those stores on my off days if I need a quick item or two. I try to stay away from the workplace on days off because even a quick pop-in tends to take a lot longer than it should. I just couldn't help but notice how squeezed I felt at Sentry Hilldale. Maybe the store has changed since I last shopped there over 5 years ago.
  18. I've really enjoyed this summer also and plan on wearing my shorts well into November like I always do. I thought the weather this past weekend was ideal, but I know most people don't agree with me.
  19. Available in aisle 4, near the Silver Spring Mustard.
  20. Yeah, we've definitely left the realm of "cheap" when organic milk is brought into the conversation. I've never tried it myself, mainly because I find it hard to pay over $5 for a gallon of milk. If I were to try some, I'd go with Sassy Cow.
  21. Much to my own surprise, I saw grass-fed milk in half-gallons at Sendik's in Whitefish Bay yesterday. It was though oddly by the soy milk, but it was there, and from a Wisconsin based farm. Is it called Grass Point Farms? http://www.grasspoint.com/images/products/gpf-milk.jpg
  22. Now on sale at Woodman's, $1.79 (regularly $2.09) for all varieties including the extra tasty Chipotle Mustard. Eat that, Chairman Bob and your regularly priced $2.69 Silver Spring mustards.
  23. We had our game this past Wednesday and had a great time. Everyone loved the seats in the club level, especially those who had never been up there before. They really enjoyed walking the concourse and checking out the MLB stadium pictures hanging outside the suites. Plus, we got a few drinks from our favorite club level bartender Angelo! Thanks again!
  24. That store made me feel claustrophobic. If you meet another cart in an aisle, you're screwed, someone's getting bumped. I can't imagine what it's like on a semi-busy day. However, I must say, I'm used to stores that are a *bit* bigger.
  25. For some reason my wife hates store brand milk, she knows everytime if I buy the Pig brand or anything other than Dean. She takes one sip and yells out, "you bought the store brand" she catches it everytime. That's interesting because for the most part, store brand milk is the name brand milk with a different label. I would think they run it all in one batch, but who knows, they may have a regulation that states a store brand be formulated differently. If anyone shops at Aldi, their milk is Swiss Valley brand milk with an Aldi brand label (Friendly Farms, I believe). MJ, I've heard the complaints about Woodman's produce forever and I should know, I've been with the company for 22 years. I think most people come to our stores for the low prices and huge selection and then go to places like Brennan's for fresh items like produce.
