  1. I guess you could say it paid off. It still took a long time, but at least we were moving by going through town. It's just the first 1/2 hour of crawling on the Beltline that really sucked. I knew Milwaukee would have some traffic issues due to rush hour, so that didn't bother me as much. It's just that I left Madison early to avoid 5 PM rush hour, and Madison screwed up the whole deal. I was in 416, 2nd row when you walk up the steps out of the tunnel, with the baseball analysts behind me (see random thoughts thread for details).
  2. Today's drive to Milwaukee from Madison was awful. We left at 3:15 and didn't park until almost 6! The Beltline wasn't moving at all (due to one random construction and many pavement buckles) so I ended up going through town to East Wash, which took over an hour. Then it took another hour from Waukesha to Miller Park. Did I mention how much this heat bugs me?
  3. The 4 baseball analysts sitting behind me at tonight's game had a real good one for the stat-men...they couldn't figure out why Suppan sucks so bad despite always having one of the top WHIP's in baseball. For those of you scoring at home, they determined WHIP= With Hitters in (scoring) Position. Discuss that one amongst yourselves. The conversation about how many earned runs he allowed tonight was great as well. I think they determined he had 2 ER tonight and the other 5 were unearned. (I believe 4/7 were actually earned).
  4. This weather sucks. I'm on vacation this week and have outdoor activities lined up for most of the week. I'd rather just sit in the A/C.
  5. Sorry. Only did it because I didn't have any onions and (gasp) I don't like kraut. Doesn't make sense that I like slaw, but not kraut.
  6. I'm getting the OpenDNS message again when I follow my bookmark here. Edit- 10 minutes later and now it works.
  7. Thread revival.... I'm not 100% on this (and I didn't approach him to let him enjoy his family time), but Mike Rivera may have been behind me in line to buy an ice cream at the Milwaukee Zoo today. The guy was wearing one of Braun's Remetee shirts which is kind of what got my mind going thinking it was Rivera. Well, that and he looked like Rivera. Like I said, I could be wrong, but he also left at the same time as me so I got a few looks at him. As for the vehicle, it was some sort of SUV, brand new. If that was you Mike, hope you enjoyed the zoo today.
  8. Hawing, I made brats tonight. Silver Spring chipotle mustard on one and Secret Stadium Sauce on the other. Both topped with coleslaw, not kraut.
  9. That must have been real bad considering the competition.
  10. Love Hosehead. Hard not to like a doughnut and beer loving dog.
  11. Hid demeanor/body language was fine in the minors and it was fine when he was pitching well in Milwaukee. Just my opinion, but I hate his body language. He really bothers me. He just has that 'whatever' look on his face, but he may just be really dumbfounded and confused, I don't know. Note you said when he was in the minors and pitching well....neither one of those have been happening for quite some time. I hope he has great body language and results in Nashville--far away from Milwaukee. Again, just my opinion, but I can do without his every 5th day loss routine.
  12. Wow, I wish I had your perspective. I know it just happened, but I hope I don't see him until next year, if then. Something about his demeanor/body language has never sat well with me.
  13. Not sure where I read it, but the Brewers are something like 6-23 in his last 29 starts. Awful.
  14. Mothership, still hateful? I wish the NY game was on after watching Parra.
  15. BrewCrew- I'm Commish of a keeper league on Yahoo, we get to keep 3 players...Not really anything fancy you can do in the free version. As long as you do an offline draft where you enter the draft results, it's easy. I just log teams keepers before the draft on the draft board and then go home and enter the draft results into the database.
  16. Great opportunity for Smith in this game to pitch well and keep a spot on the roster. I'm assuming Macha will let him go until he's out of gas.
  17. It's really good to read the comments by some of you who weren't fans before. I've always loved hockey and wish more people would get into it. Games like those mentioned by RU can quickly make people fans.
  18. Hope he gets to know Angel Salome tomorrow. This is brutal. Looks like I'm gonna be able to get outside and enjoy the day a lot earlier than expected.
  19. A great ending to a great playoffs. Very good for the NHL to have some of their prominent young stars (Malkin, Crosby, Fleury) win the Cup. I'm always happy when Detroit loses, but moreso this year since they ousted the Blackhawks.
  20. Todd is on a roll with the great interviews.
  21. How about the Red Sox fans chanting "You use steroids" during his AB last night. I could hear the crowd chanting something, but the announcer made a point to tell the viewer exactly what was being said.
  22. My apologies to all who are complaining about the temps, but I think this weather is awesome. I love sunny days in the 60s and 70s. Today is perfect...about 65 degrees and sunny. The extended forecast shows the next 7 days are going to be around 70 as well. Not only does that make for a nice day, it brings temps down at night for great sleeping weather and lower costs from the gas/electric company since I'm not using the heat or the A/C.
  23. I understand their choice to put Badger and prep sports first - it is Madison - but somehow I suspect they'll make a point to always send someone for Packers coverage. But really, preps over a major league franchise? That's small town stuff. I understand the Badger love in Madison, but they really don't have much going during baseball season. There is some overlap, but not enough to "ignore" the Brewers to the point of basically giving fans an AP wire report. (However, I shouldn't complain as we're no longer subjected to Vic Feuerherd's stories). Thankfully, I can just go to JSOnline (and here) for my "real" Brewers coverage. Don't get me started on the Packers coverage. I get it, but I hate it.
  24. Found this on McLouth's contract status: 3 years/$15.75M (2009-11), plus 2012 club option [li]signed extension with Pittsburgh 2/17/09 (avoided arbitration, $3.8M-$2.75M)$1.5M signing bonus 09:$2M, 10:$4.5M, 11:$6.5M, 12:$10.65M club option ($1.25M buyout) [/li] Edit-SoCal beat me to it. What he said...
