  2. That's good to know. I must just keep missing it then. I tend to turn it on at lunch, but it's always classic games. This is certainly true, but I haven't understood why they don't breakdown the completed games more then. They'll let you know when a game goes final, but then that might be the last time they talk about that game on the live show.
  3. Legumes are most likely not vegetables, they're closer to fruits, but seeing as "vegetable" isn't a botanical term and thus is subjective, one could consider them vegetables. Outside of say, sweet peas, I've never considered most legumes a vegetable, so I wasn't considering those in that category. The vegetarians I know seem to classify them (legumes/beans) in their own category. However, yes, legumes are great sources of protein. Soy is the only complete protein that I'm aware of in the legume family, but as mentioned early, it isn't the miracle bean so many people thought it was 10-15 years ago. Soy intake should still be limited, meaning people without meat in their diets need to pay attention to the proteins their foods have, and make meals that can provide a complete protein.
  4. Ya, I've seen plenty of the look-ins that don't result in any runs. The ones they know what happens are the updates like Baseball Tonight has. Outside of the live show at night, I haven't watched much of MLB Network. I like that they're playing Ken Burns' Baseball, and some classic games, but I've never seen any Sportscenter type show during the day. Maybe there is one, but I've never noticed it. You would think they'll add something like that during the season at some point. And the live show can get repetitive too. They like to look in at certain games a lot and then talk about them. Also, Mitch Williams really doesn't like the Brewers untucking their jerseys, he makes jabs at that a lot. It's pretty funny to see what a homer he is for the Phillies.
  5. I tend to think carbs are the most abused substances, because of misunderstandings in our diet. On their own, fats are easily the most misunderstood elements of our food supply. I don't think protein registers for most of the general public. I know you can get really all the carbs you need from plant foods, instead of starchy options, but I don't know of a single veggie that has a high protein value. Yes, some veggies have protein, but they have way more carbs. If you know otherwise I'd be curious to know about it.
  6. I didn't like the idea of an exclusive channel at first, and the MLB Network doesn't have much love for the Crew outside of Hoffman that I've seen, but I do really enjoy it. I've been tending to have it on during the weeknights. It's great to be able to jump into every game when something is happening. I haven't turned on Baseball Tonight since the first week or so of the season.
  7. The last time we were in Houston and they turned into a BooFest, Uecker said, "theses people are going to boo their babysitters when they get home!" Still hilarious!
  8. He does seem very cautious there, sometimes frustratingly so.
  9. Soy is not without numerous problems, especially in the ways we typically consume it in the U.S. If you're going to eat a lot of tofu, you should try to find some tempeh instead.

  11. You know, I'm surprised that I'm saying this, but if that was the discussion Macha had with Hall, I'm okay with him giving Hall the chance and sticking to his word. The pressure was on for Billy there, and unfortunately it didn't work out.
  12. Registering a domain name is different than hosting. You need to register for a domain name, and then you find somewhere to host it. You can register a domain at many places like GoDaddy or Network Solutions or register.com and then secure hosting from a completely different company if you like, though all of these places offer hosting as well. However, a lot of hosting companies these days will pay the domain registration fees for you if you sign up with them for hosting, mostly because most of them are actual registars now. You mostly have the choice between an Apache/Linux set-up or a Windows set up, and those choices differ on what you can use on your website. Standard HTML would work on either set up. Something like Wordpress is pretty nice, but you'll need a hosting setup that can use PHP to use Wordpress, which typically means an Apache/Linux hosting set-up. So watch out for that. I have used Xeran for probably 8 years, for several different sites, including my own. Dreamhost is very cheap and pretty reliable, but if you don't know what you're doing, they can be a bit of a pain. Heck they can be a pain even if you do know what you're doing. I have clients who have used the hosting with GoDaddy and Network Solutions, but I've never really liked their set ups. GoDaddy is especially annoying to me with how they set up their control panels.
  13. Well, to be fair, it seems everyone is calling it out as a bad move. Rock said something, and TH said something about it on his blog. It is the type of move Yost would have been railed on for, but there was much more bad blood with Yost than there is with Macha. It would be different if nobody was calling it out as a horrible move.
  14. The Hall K is predictably frustrating, but you can't get all the breaks. The Crew still looked okay tonight. Lots of hard hit balls, mostly right at someone, or otherwise well played. I think BA thought about 6 different balls were leaving the ballpark.
  15. 5 runs still feels miles away, even with the bases loaded and zero outs. In related news, the Cubs left the tying run 90 feet away. Game over, Cards 2 - Cubs 1.
  16. They showed it going off during the broadcast tonight. I would expect people would get a light mist if they are sitting around it, nothing that would be troublesome in my opinion.

  19. Never truer words, and all of that. *golf clap*
  20. Great interview! Thanks to Brooks and Todd!
  21. You must mean that August is by far the easiest month. Only 2 of the 9 teams they face have winning records (Dodgers and Reds). September definitely looks the toughest with 9 games against the cards, 7 games against the baby bears, and 4 games against the Phillies. Actually, I was wrong about August, thanks for catching that. The stretch I was thinking of is mostly in July, being the 2 week run into the All-Star break, facing the Mets, Cubs, Cards, Dodgers to wrap up the first half, then opening the second half with the Reds. And September could be a very wild month.
  22. They certainly won't be able to sustain the all out tear they're on right now, but they're playing pretty well, and when they don't play well, we're still getting the breaks, like last night. To me, the important thing is how they handle the downswing that always comes. The past two seasons it has been pretty brutal, but I do feel this team has matured quite a bit this year, so I think they'll make it through it. The starting pitching can't keep up this pace all year, but I do feel good about the bullpen. Hoffman really stabilizes that whole pen, it was chaos before that. Sure Hoffman is eventually going to blow some saves, but that won't diminish the fact that the 8th and 9th are largely under control. All and all, it's been a great run for the past 30ish games, that gave me confidence for the summer. Last season it felt like we beat up on the teams we needed to be able to, and largely flailed against the top teams. This season we've continued to feast on the weaker teams, and have played respectably against the upper tier that we've faced to this point. I took a look at the schedule last night. August is by far the toughest month this team will have, and September could change the whole complexion of the Central. The Cubs aren't what everyone thought they would be, but they've had some tough breaks and they still scare me, and I hope we can create more distance between us in the standings now, while they're still struggling some. And if they get into the running for Peavy again, ugh. I think the Cards are going to linger like they did last year, but will hopefully get pushed out of the race in September again. The wildcard looks like it's coming out of the Central again and I'm feeling confident about getting one of the two spots for the playoffs.
