This may mean a few things. One possibly good thing is that Dickerson and Boggs are both making the team and Kotsay is being let go and they want some depth at AAA (though not sure how much actual depth Carroll provides, maybe just a body). The other possibility is that they think Boggs will be picked up by somebody off waivers and so he won't be in AAA.
Yes but he got in trouble because he lied about the violations. Men's basketball is the #3 sport at Tennessee and they aren't going to risk the entire department facing a ban from post season over Pearl.
No, they are giving those extra starts to Gallardo. Before it sounded like they wouldn't skip Narveson at all (though I thought it was foolish not to) so there isn't a move up. Again the pitching is only about 45% or so of winning a given game.
Over 3 starts? Not really close to a win. Let's assume that Greinke has a great season and over 33 starts his WAR is 6.5. Now let's replace him for 3 starts with a below replacement level player say -1.0 WAR over 33 starts. That comes to about 2/3 of a win. And that is pretty much at the maximum.
Absolutely not, Pearl is as slimy as it gets. Pearl was just deemed too slimy for an SEC school. So that leaves what? Another SEC school (LSU?), Cincy, and UNLV?
Capuano isn't an idiot. He knew that he'd be in competition with the Brewers at best. In many other cities he's have a rotation spot if he showed he was healthy.
Dickerson is better than Boggs, Reed, Kotsay and Almonte. Can we stop pretending Spring Training numbers mean anything? Willy Bloomquist is hitting .396.
In news that should make everyone not a Reds fan giddy, Walt Jocketty thinks Chapaman might end up closing next year instead of starting:http://www.nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/42154517/sports/player_news
Why would Cruz be the first one out? The Brewers are exceptionally thin at SS with Betancourt hurt and terrible and Counsell being 41. They really can't afford to toss aside Cruz to hang onto Boggs.
