  1. How does he have low value? He's about a 2.5-3 win player making the minimum this year and next before hitting arbitration. Over the next 2.5 years he'll have like $20m in excess value. He has great value.
  2. That's crap. Bumgarner is more than enough for Fielder. The Giants just aren't stupid enough to make that trade.
  3. How did the Brewers not score? They had 2 productive outs!
  4. Because Cain was coming off injury and he needed a guy for this year and perhaps next.
  5. That's a 1250 special. The Mariners have no use for Gomez. Its just throwing names out there that they know.
  6. Except that isn't true at all. Most other managers would have Counsell playing SS way more. Zaun was here because Lucroy was still a question at the beginnign fo teh year and after 2 weeks he went ahead of Kottaras who has a year under him. Villaneuva was still in the pen. The number of managers who would have pulled Hoffman sooner is close to zero. You want to complain about him hanging Hawkins out to pitch too much? Go ahead. And yes they treated Gamel stupidly. But that seems more of a Gamel thing not a young player thing.
  7. Yeah if we didn't have Macha we'd have a rookie shortstop, a rookie catcher, a rookie closer, and two rookie set up men. That would never happen with Macha.
  8. Calm down its just a beat buy. The kind that thinks Matt Kemp is gettable.
  9. The Philies need some type of offense quickly to make up for their losses and McGehee would likely be the best bat out there for 2nd or 3rd right now. I understand the chance of this happening is slim, but woudl this seem workable to anyone else?
  10. Katin isn't on the 40-man. No reason to move things around to put him on it for a September call up. He just isn't that good.
  11. From everything that was heard the Brewers strongly encouraged the move. No one in the draft projected him as catcher long term.
  12. So a middling pitcher about to get expensive and a questionable bat? No thanks.
  13. No, Lawrie wanted to be a catcher and the Brewers humored him to get him to sign quickly. No one not related to him thought he was a catcher going forward.
  14. Kendall hits 2nd for the Royals
  15. One should almost never worry about service time with a reliever. Its just not that important.
  16. Shorter Bill: Castro won't become a better hitter until he starts swinging at more balls off the plate
  17. He may actually be pitching better than in 2007. Given that he's pitched in relief its hard to break it all out over so few innings.
  18. He's pretty much exactly the pitcher he was 2 years ago. The difference is all in BABIP.
  19. Anyone who trades for Fielder needs to assume he'll walk. That said at the end of the season Boston, both Chicago teams, possibly Detroit nd the LAD will need a 1B/DH.
  20. Zambrano hasn't changed. If was allowed to start 30 games he'd end up being worth about 3 wins like the last few years while having huge personality issues.. But the Cubs need another scape goat to pin the blame of another failed season on.
  21. Where does Fielder then play? Beltre, Youkilis and Ortiz are all killing the ball.
  22. If you resign Hart Go Go is gone gone. If Schaefer was healthy he might have been anyway.
  23. I highly doubt it could. Washington spent so much on Strasburg's rights that they likely won't give up him for much of anything. That said Evan Longoria is still likely the most valuable piece of property however given relative injury risk.
  24. This just in, the Nats who are sure to "make a run" this year are in last place and further back than the Brewers with a worse run differential.
