  1. Except he shouldn't back up CF (unless they decide to move Gomez down in which case its him backing up Gerut) and Fielder will play about 160 games. Braun will play fewer than that.
  2. So we should allow this seaon's fortunes depend upon a bunch of guys who haven't had any serious work above high A? Yes there is Butler who is still injured. Right now the guy most likely set to step in is Estrada. And the point about Villanueva isn't so much that he can be a starter just that he has a role as the bullpen gets thinned out going forward. But counting on a bunch of guys to take AA by storm and stay healthy is bad planning for this season and for next year.
  3. Is there anything more painful than Rock trying to explain roster management?
  4. It isn't a wasted roster spot. You option down Villaneuva who is buried on the bullpen depth chart as it is. Have Narveson or Parra pick up his innings and make Suppan the long relief guy(or vice versa). This also allows for Villaneuva to stretch out and start for Nashville helping the overall starting depth this year and in the future.
  5. God no. Lowell isn't worth Salome. He isn't worth much more than Suppan. Guillen would take Gomez's place if the world was right...
  6. About the only really upsetting thing I could see if is they try optioning Bush down which would basically assure that Suppan has made the rotation.
  7. The spot of being the biggest ass on the team. Both Suppan and Guillen are replacement type players. But replacement level starters who can go out for 150 innings are rareer then replacement level right handed hitters who can't hit of field. And for all Suppan's faults, he isn't an ass.
  8. If Beimel had to take a minor league deal despite being a better LOOGY Schoenweiss was always going to have trouble.
  9. You do a clean install or an ugrade? I've been putting off putting on an upgrade install on my Vista-64 since I'm somewhat leery of doing upgrades.
  10. Really don't know why they decided to play around with Stetter's delivery point.
  11. You can't really compare the two. Kendall's early years were during the power surge of the late 90s. Add in how much of Kendall's game was based on speed and the ankle injury he suffered.
  12. Anatasio making huge profits? Forbes had tha Brewers pulling in about $10m per year in profits up until last season (I haven't seen last season). He isn't Loria, but because of revenue sharing Atanasio has made more money owning the Brewers than the Seligs likely ever did before they sold.
  13. If you haven't already run teh task manager and see what processes are running. It sounds like you may need to do a full reinstall but it maybe just malware.
  14. Well I think Suppan for Guillen is doable but that would be a situation where the Brewers would actually making themselves worse.
  15. The Brewers are paying too much money to Wolf, Fielder and Hoffman to just throw Suppan into the rotation and hope for the best.
  16. Most owners in most pro sports don't make huge yearly profits on their team. Now some do (Hi. Mr. Atanasio!), some put family on in no shows jobs (Hi Mr. McCourt!), but like the Steinbrenner's only make any money if the Yankees get into the playoffs. If the owner has income sources outside of the team they can operate at a loss (unlike the Seligs that were so cash poor they had to take short term loans to cover payroll each year), or in like Daniel Snyder cna operate at a loss each year. You can do that because major sports teams just keep going up in value.
  17. 4 wins is a huge amount. A 4 win player is an All Star or close to it.
  18. Most pitchers who can pitch in the major leagues are like that. If they exploded every single time out they wouldn't pitch. All pitchers have great games and all pitchers have games they can't get out of the 2nd inning. The difference between good and bad pitchers are the number of each.
  19. The Twin Cities are not a small market. They're mid market. The Twin cities metro area is twice the size of the Milwaukee metro area. The only thing more annoying then calling the Twins a small market club is calling the Marlins a small market club.
  20. A lot depends on how you project Bush and Parra. Those two basically are a 5-8 game swing depending on how you weight last year versus earlier years.
  21. They do it for every team to "prevent" late season tanking. The problem is that the reward of a top 3 pick is so much greater than trying to make that 35th win that you're a bad franchise if you don't start tanking if you have no shot at .500 and the playoffs.
  22. Suppan is about replacement level. But that puts him ahead of the other options the Brewers have in house. And Villaneuva is buried on teh bullpen depth chart right now. Sending him down to AAA gives another starting option. At some point in the season it might make sense to waive Suppan but why do it now?
