  1. Taylor Green will need to repeat AA next season. He isn't a replacement for Fielder.
  2. The biggest blow to Hardy's value is more likely due to teh Rays moving Bartlett then anything Hardy did. I still could easily see Escobar being traded if the Brewers decide to make a push while Fielder is still under contract.
  3. The small market Brewers traded Scot Podsednik. The small market Royals didn't trade Aviles. Which makes more sense?
  4. I won't argue about Looper again, but there are two pitchers who for some reason completely collapsed who were supposed to provide some depth. Villaneuva battled control problems. Seth McClung though stopped being able to strike batters out. He always had bad control but at least he could get Ks. This year his K/BB is 1.00.
  5. Ok its somewhat of an approximation but Texeria has been worth 39.8 runs above replacement and Cameron 38.7. Cameron is very good player that for some reason get treated as an average starter.
  6. It hard to see Kendall being assured of a job in MLB next year much less one that pays him 50% of what he makes this year.
  7. He's committed 3 errors. Now maybe his range will compensate for that over time, but 3 errors give you -1.3 runs in value its hard to overcome that.
  8. That's just wrong. Hardy was always considered a gem defensively. Again to pretend the Escobar is suddenly going to be greater then the top palyers at the position just isn't smart. He's been crap so far in the major leagues and that's likely mostly due to nerves but he dug himself a hole in the month of playing time.
  9. And I'll take that a rookie player isn't going to suddenly be much better than the top palyers defensively at his position.
  10. No you didn't see anyone post any statistical reason why we shouldn't because they aren't any.
  11. Cameron has been as valuable as Mark Texeria this year. To be "hamstrung" is a weird way to put it. Cameron is a 4 win player.
  12. Except your not going to get anything better than Cameron for the money he costs.
  13. I really hope that Haudricort is guessing. I've heard him say it before, but there is no way the Brewers should pick up Looper's option. Davis wouldn't be a bad signing but it doesn't really do much unless he's the second pitcher acquired moving Suppan to the bullpen. Pinerio is going to be overpaid due to this year and Marquis is Looper V1.1. Really the Brewers should let Kendall go, let Looper go, let Wheathers go and let McClung go and take that $16m and get something actually worthwhile.
  14. Florida is like the number one state for players to live. If the Marlins ever got their act together they would be a #1 FA destination and Tampa isn't far behind.
  15. Keep in mind Cliff Lee didn't become "Cliff Lee Cy Young Pitcher" until age 30. Pitcher's can take time to develop. Which is why if you trade Fielder for pitching you might as well go for the full rebuild because you likely pushing eveything back at least 1 year while the pitcher's adjust to MLB.
  16. You know how sucky Hardy played this year? Basically his complete fall off? That's the expectation for Escobar right now. I don't understand the need to rush him. This isn't like Gamel who was dominating AAA pitching before he got called up.
  17. Dunn's defense doesn't just suck, its nearly Braun at 3B bad. It makes him an average player paid slightly above what an average player make. And by all accounts he's now at bad at 1B as he is in the OF. Now if you have a DH waiting for him he could be worth something, but if your in the NL there are just too many better options.
  18. PTBNL has been named. 2B Sean Rodriguez of the .299 .400 .616 line. So yeah, that's not chopped liver.
  19. People said he wasn't worth trading for and given that he couldn't be given away that is pretty much proven correct.
  20. Al you see m to be not noticing that no one put a waiver claim in on him.
  21. Doesn't the fact that Penny was on the street pretty much invalidate your point?
  22. No, the problem is you expect great players to be worth much more than they really are. An average player is about 2 WARs. A very good player is about 4 WARs. An All-Star is 4-5 WARs and an MVP is over 6. A win is huge amount. If you want to multiply it by 10 and call it runs, fine, but its just a measure of scale. EDIT: Think of it like GPA, Kendal with his 1.0 is a D student whereas Pujols with his 6.8 is acing all his honors courses and taking extra credits on top of it
  23. Well Melky Cabrera was having a nice season, but he's fallen off a bunch. A .268/.329/.415 line with bad defense makes him just above replacement level. Better than last year but still not good. Kennedy is about to be 25, hasn't pitched for a year and will leikyl never get a role in New York. He looks to be moved for a very good setup man is my guess.
