  1. The Dodgers aren't giving up a pitcher when they only have 3 under contract right now.
  2. Hawing I'd guess your mother is in her late 60s early 70s? If she might need the money within the next few years putting it in a CD where the principal is protected and is fairly liquid might be the best option. Keep in mind thaqt depening on ehr age she mgiht still be able to put a bit in an IRA
  3. Gerut isn't 1/10, closer to 1/2 but yeah. Crisp hasn't really hit since he left Celveland and his defense is questionable.
  4. His career FIP is 4.56 in a combination of starting and mostly relieving, hardly exciting. His K/BB is 1.59 which is bad. He's 25 and turns 26 next July. He was up in 2007 at age 23, not exactly young. And his control problems are there in the minors as well.
  5. Ankiel won't be cheaper than Crisp. And Crisp is about to turn 30 and he hasn't had a good season since 2005.
  6. Morrow isn't that young and has McClung like control problems. He likely has the most upside of a guy who the Brewers could get who is ready to pitch next year. But he's a risk similar to Parra. Either could turn it on next year or bust. At least Parra has had soem success where Morrow really hasn't.
  7. Given that TH was likely the cause of the rumor its the least he could do. Absolutely the least.
  8. And his defense regressed even more.
  9. I just don't trust Bedard to be ready to go by June.
  10. Greinke for Braun is a more likely deal. Seattle can easily afford Hernandez, he isn't going anywhere.
  11. The Royals have no use for Hardy (and no taking a $5m risk on Hardy as his trade value declines as he eats up service time is not a good use of assets). It made no sense when talking about on the D-List.
  12. Cabrera had a great April. He then fell apart. His 2nd half: .264/.324/.393. Mix in bad defense and he was below average.
  13. Except Hudson thought the same and ended up with the Dodgers for bupkis. The Mets might finally pull the rip cord on Castillo so who knows.
  14. You know why this might be? He strikes out so much that him not putting the ball in play means BABIP has a lesser effect on him.
  15. Or he pouts, quits on the team, and gets DFA'd like the Nats ended up doing.
  16. They paid Smoltz $5.5m. They paid Penny $5m. That isn't cheap.
  17. Jones will likely be moved to 1B. He likely doesn't want to but he nosedived last season. That said Lowe is the guy being dangled from all reports and my guess is if not him Kawakami would be moved before Vasquez.
  18. Its not the salary its the years. A one year deal makes sense, a three or four year deal for a player who has quit on teams in the past does not.
  19. Everyone who makes as much as baseball players have guaranteed contracts except football players and even they get huge signing bonuses. The NHL is a shrinking sport while baseball is rolling in money.
  20. Why are the Sox thinking about trading him? He was the best closer for the entire season. Anyway, he doesn't want to start and will be making top tier closer money fairly shortly making a transition to starting an expensive proposition.
  21. And don't forget everyone's favorite Gary Sheffield!
  22. Yes we all wish for the day baseball becomes the NHL
  23. He'll be offered arby and most likely walk. If he gets into a Hudson type pinch he could be back, but my guess he'll start the season at short then and give Escobar a chance to earn his way up. Lopez will then be dealt or perhaps moved to RF.
  24. Heyman is just likely spouting off. The Brewers have offered long term contracts the past two offseasons after all, a third is hardly a big jump. The biggest issue is that another down market could actually mean there's a chance at a signing but I don't expect that until the FA period has played out. Its a small chance but probably greater than at any other point Fielder has been here.
  25. They are likely going to rebuild so 2 years of Hardy is pretty meaningless to them. Escobar for Halladay could happen.
