  1. Because one base just isn't worth that much while losing a baserunner and making another out is a huge price.
  2. Rodriguez suddenly got bad and Jeter suddenly go good so I put it more in line with measurement issues with a new stadium thrown in.
  3. And block Gamel? And deal with Branyan's injurieas and bad defensive play? He's a platoon 1B/DH. The Brewers are set at 1B.
  4. The Brewers season ended when Bush didn't come back after 15 days.
  5. Good young power arms like Jorge DeRosa, Jose Cappellan and Dana Eveland!
  6. What black mark? This isn't anywhere close to what Detroit has done to Ordonez, do you think Detroit is suddenly going to be blacklisted?
  7. I just don't see Kendall coming back when Miller who was willing to be a backup was let go after having a season that while bad was still light years ahead of Kendall's. Damian Miller's last season .237 .296 .349, Jason Kendall right now .228 .315 .277.
  8. A grievance could be filed and it would lose. Hardy hasn't hit. They could send to Arizona for a week after the season to check on thingsor say wait until the Brewers return from their 1 city road trip on the 1st-3rd. This isn't going to cost Hardy that much even if he loses a year, much less than his season missed to injury cost him.
  9. Again Ned Yost had Brain Shouse intentionally walk Ryan Howard with the season on the line so he could have him face Pat Burrell. If anyone in any other business did something similar they wouldn't be there at the end of that day.
  10. If Hardy gets injured he get no major league service time. edit: Its also important to keep in mind that a 4th year of arby is basically the same salary as a free agent so from the player's prospective there isn't too much difference assuming no injury. So for position players it isn't too big of a deal, for pitchers it can be of course. In Hardy's case the economy might swing around again so he might actually make more money one year later on.
  11. Jose Reyes was terrible in his first full season. And the idiot who kept batting him leadoff despite his .300 OBP now is employed by your Milwaukee Brewers.
  12. Salome over the last 28 days 0.333 0.379 0.438. Where Escobar hasn't really improved all season Salome has been hitting well since his terrible first month.
  13. The point X is making is that the Brewers are adding 2 months to Escobar's service time for no real reason.
  14. Escobar's MLEs are that bad. Escobar's MLEs are 0.259 0.301 0.345 which are below Hardy's numbers for this year and far below his rookie season.
  15. Why? Hall brought absolutely nothing to this team. At least before he got hurt Soup was pitching okay for a number 5 starter. It makes sense to assume Soup hurt his arm around the Pitt start July 22. In that start and the one following he gave up 15 runs in 8 innings jumping his ERA from a very respectable 4.43 to a 5.27. Yes he is paid too much but I would rather pay too much to a guy who is contributing and helping us win games than Bill Hall. Hall's WAR 0.2 Suppan's WAR -0.3
  16. Except who is your backup SS then? Counsell can play there but McGehee cannot and people are saying Lopez has a bad hammy and cannot. Counsell has been nicked up as well. We would have absolutely no depth and it is not like Escobar needs to be Hanley Ramirez with the stick if he can hit close to what he was in AAA with his defense he is very valuable. Yeah he could be JJ Hardy this year even!
  17. This does too affect Escobar's service time big time. He should be in the minors until he proves he can hit. He should be called up mid season next year at the earliest. Calling him up now makes him a FA a year sooner, the same blunder Melvin made with Hardy. Melvin has proven he doesn't learn from his mistakes. Time to find a new GM. Unless of course Melvin is now fixing his mistake. Hardy to AAA for one month buying a year of service time. It also measn he doesn't need to be traded and Escobar can spend 1/2 a year to a full year in AAA next season. I doubt this is what is happening though. But if the market for Hardy has dried up it could be.
  18. Corey Patterson would have been better, then he would likely be gone next year....
  19. Easily, because he is terrible. He's 27. His MLEs are 0.279 0.308 0.340. Heether's MLEs 0.252 0.340 0.407
  20. How long ago was the switch? If it was really recent try emptying your cache and loading the page again. If your browser preloads stuff it can sometimes cause problems when changing providers. EDIT:It could also be a virus that added certain apges to your blocked address list.
  21. TrendMicro tends to get the best responses for a pay program. It doesn't have the bloat that the consumer Norton has (the corporate Norton is miles better). It give you 3 licenses but is hardly ever on sale.
  22. How is Dye a perfect bat? He's right handed and makes more outs than Cameron. And he's terrible in RF.
  23. So who's playing RF and what pitcher is magically going to appear? EDIT: Corey Hart the guy who everyone wants to dump has a WAR of 1.1 or about twice the value of Dye.
