Ibanez only makes sense if Hart is traded moving Braun to right (and even there its iffy) or as a replacement for Fielder if he's traded. But $12m for 3 years and a 1st round pick is a high cost for a guy who has a good chance of dropping off a cliff.
Yep, Cain's success is all due to low HRs allowed which for a flyball pitcher isn't something to bank on continuing outside the NL West. He's a guy the Giants would be smart to trade, see him implode a bit and then sign him as a FA in three years time
Posada's contract? Rivera's contract? He's been giving out ridiculous contracts all over the place. And the Yankees missed the playoffs and are moving into a new stadium.
I think you might reading too much into this. My guess is they feel no one will pick Dillon up to keep on the 40 man and that he'd welcome a chance at a minor league deal. Now they could be wrong and someone will give him more than an NRI this srping but its likely not something to worry too much about. Keep in mind the Brewers were the only ones to really contact Branyan and he has actually destroyed major league pitching.
Jose Guillen is getting huge money. But that's not the point. the point is the Royals suck and adding Fielder for three years doesn't stop them from sucking.
12? Only if you assume no options are picked up. Shouse, Branayn, Gagne, Mota, Kapler, Sheets, Sabathia, Durham, Coffey. Add in Torres, Cameron, and Counsell.
KC doesn't have money, is not anywhere close to competitive, and is burried in a tough division. Unless we assume irrationality on KC's part, Fielder makes no sense.
Jetter's offense could play anywhere at the time. Its only this season that Jeter has really slipped, and he still was average for 3B. Yes Jeter would have whined, but that's the whole point, Jeter is a me first player.
This comes from the same place day World Series games come from:Making reporters have less work. Suspended games upset reporters' travel plans! Something must be done!
No a .297/.354/.422 line at AA as a 22 year old isn't a top prospect, its just a guy. He's spent three years at AAA because he hasn't been able to hit.
So is the big show as bad as Gary and Cliff where Gary would say the most idiotic thing possible and because he was an ex-jock he would get 80% of callers on his side?
I agree I just think this is a bad year. And you can add in possible moves of Vlad and C Jones to 1B. I also think people are heavily overestimating what Fielder will get in arbitration when comparing him to Howard. Howard had an MVP award and a ROY award.
Yo was also hurt to start the season. He missed as many starts as Sheets before his collision. He's in the middle of the injury nexus so not sure why everyone thinks he'll be super healthy.
The problem with that is that this is a bumper year for 1B/DH types. You have Texeria and Giambi of course. But then you have a bunch of OFers who likely shouldn't be in the OF and fit better at 1b/DH: Dunn, Burrell, Floyd, Ibanez, Ramirez. Then you have aging infielders that team might take a flyer on at 1B in Nomar, Kent and Durham.
If you like that sort of casual place, any of the Texas Roadhouses would work. There's Brisco County out by the Falls if you're that way. I assume the Silver Spur is still closed/never reopening.
