  1. "defense at 2B" Compared to Dillon maybe, but his defense would be behind Weeks, Counsell, and Hall. The Brewers might get picks if a team signs Durham before the arby deadline if he's a Type B because there is no cost to the signing team. If he's a Type A there is no chance.
  2. Now the big question becomes who goes down when Suppan comes off the DL.
  3. Buster's "source" appears to be the SF Chronicle. ESPN, the NEW AP!
  4. I guess I just don't get most of this. Durham? Sure he's a better bet than Dillon to give you something and switch hits but there are better 2B about to enter FA available (Grudz, Ellis, and Hudson if Arizona tanks in the next two weeks) that would cost about the same as Durham with only the Mets likely shopping for one. Taschner's not any upgrade over Stetter and taking away inning from Stetter makes little sense for next year.
  5. UZR from THT: Durham is at .768 with only 8 OOZ plays Weeks is at .800 with 23 OOZ plays Roberts is .804 with 26 OOZ plays Grudzilanek is at .834 with 7 OOZ plays Counsell's small sample amount is .771 with 4 OOZ plays (at short he's .878 so its almost certainly a small sample thing) Some for comparison: Ellis is .907, Uggla is .804, Hudson is .797 Utley is .836 with 44(!) OOZ plays. Edit: OOZ is "Out of Zone", the "zone" for each position is the area in which 50% or more of batted balls are handled for outs. This again shows Durham with a striking lack of range at this point.
  6. So you want to make a hitter swing at bad pitches and GIDP more often? And just because Hardy is currently at .350 doesn't mean its in anyway expected to stay there.
  7. Because you want a contact hitter in the 2 hole with a good OBP. You want to get as many people on base and in scoring position for your 3, 4, and 5 hitters, and and all or nothing player like Cameron who strikes out a lot fits better in the 6 or 7 hole. Why do you want a good contact hitter? And who's OBP projects to be better than Cameron's that's a viable option?
  8. No not really. Halladay did it in April.
  9. The biggest reason this is foolish is because its wastes a roster spot. Bush won't be able to pitch most days because he has to start when they return home. So he can basically only pitch when McClung pitches and perhaps a side throwing day. So you're carrying around a guy who you can't actually use. I also imagine this means Dillon gets sent back down so they can carry an extra pitcher.
  10. I just did a search and Gamestop in Delafield supposedly has it in stock
  11. Yes that's is what I'm saying, at short Hardy is a possible All Star if he gets a good year with his average, at 2B he would be at best a solid start assuming a line for Hardy of around .260/.330/.440 on average. Utley, Kinsler. and Uggla play 2B along with Hudson, Pedroia, Roberts, and Phillips. Throw in Johnson and perhaps Cano comes back and you have Hardy falling way down. At short you have Ramirez who should be moved, and then only Reyes and Rollins who should definitely be better. Now Hardy is pretty much in a group of like 5-6 other players that will vary from year to year, but he's going to be a strong option in free agency no matter what.
  12. I just don't see the purpose to making the movie. You can't put the whole history/critique of comics plus Alan Moore's politics in the movie. All you're left with is really the plot and the main plot isn't the greatest in the world, .ie. most James Bond movies have a similar really rich trusted guy wants to start WWIII plot. Now if they would have tried to update the story (ie Cheney instead of Nixon trying to get another term in office after Bush had a nervous breakdown following a 2nd terrorist attack) you might have something interesting but its sounds like it'll be a frame by frame copy as much as possible.
  13. I doubt its the Twins don't want Liriano, they want a healthy Liriano. If he relapses they don't want him burning service time on the DL.
  14. They're lower as a rate but not as an actual tax bill. Housing is much more expensive, so you either pay more in housing and in taxes or you pay the same amount in housing but receive a much smaller house than in Wisconsin. $600K goes much farther in Wisconsin.
  15. Why? At short he's Micheal Young, at 2B he's Mark Grudzielanik.
  16. Neither of those pitchers were pitching in the major leagues. Yes you can get pitching prospects for Fielder, no one denies that. But getting good established pitching is the issue.
  17. That incentive is peanuts to a company as big as Miller, especially since it won't do anything to reduce their tax burden in Milwaukee anyway. Taxes aren't a huge deal in locationd ecisions, studies have been done showing this. If they were no one would have business in Manhattan, And how does living in Chicago' North Shore make them better? Thier cost of housing likely doubled with higher taxes from that plus higher energy costs.
  18. And why would that be? The Brewers just taking on salary to avoid having to give up talent?
  19. Yes they moved to that tax haven that is Chicago, Illinois!
  20. You yourself mention Jones. And they signed Pierre. And Garciaparra. And Kent. With Lowe's contract up plus the end of Nomar's and Kent's contract the Dodgers have the money and the desire. As for the Brewers signing Lowe? His road ERA right now is 4.85 and he's going to be 36 next season.
  21. And who exactly is this pitcher? In the major leagues maybe Cain, but Cain's value is tied to his low home run rate. If San Francisco is willing to trade him for Fielder you have to wonder how sustainable it is away from The House That Bonds Built.
  22. Given that MAG was entirely CGI it should look great. Persona 4 right now is the only big thing this Winter for me. When the most exciting announcement at E3 was Netflix for the 360 (yes there's FF13 for the 360, so which comes out first: StarCraft 2 or FF13? I got SC2 Beta this Winter so a release next Christmas with FF13 maybe making a Japanese release next fall and a NA release come May) I think E3 is now really dead. The PSN games seem more interesting than any major PS3 release right now. Fallout 3 scares me, mostly because Bethesda has yet to write a single decent NPC and without decent NPCs and their choice for combat... I may get Fire Emblem
  23. So the Brewers can't afford Fielder but somehow the Royals can?
  24. Grudz is the best bet-he'd be cheap and can actually play 2B unlike Durham
