  1. Nelson right now is a better option than basically anybody the Mariners are running out in LF, 1B or DH. And until Ichiro was moved back, it was RF too.
  2. Hardy is a solid starting short stop. He's having a great two weeks. But just like Jason Kendall had a great 1st two weeks and then hit ike Jason Kendall, Hardy will return agin to hitting like Hardy. And no Hardy will not move off of short stop. And if forced to move you'll hear constant rumours about how terrible an idea it is making Hall's trade request look milquetoast in comparison. He's not going to give up $12 m a year to get $6 m a year to be a below average 3B
  3. Booing Villaneuva's walk in the 9th? This is really getting ridiculous. Maybe we need some fan instructional videos made.
  4. Not quite. You always get sandwich picks. If you sign a type A free agent you lose your 1st round pick. So the Brewers would receive 3 picks (round is determined by signing team and how many free agents they sign), 3 sandwich picks and would give up their first round in that scenario.
  5. WOOHOO! I am just so excited to see a 1 in 1000 event! And while Mota's first ground ball should have been an out, the second one was lucky not to be an RBI.
  6. And when Cain reverts to being a 3 away from the home run damping of San Fran, what then?
  7. The contact play again. You would have though that the previous should have been out at home would have ment something.
  8. Hardy whines if moved in the batting in order. The wail you'd hear if he was moved from short stop would be deafening.
  9. I hoping its a Darron Sutton for Brain Anderson/Bill Schroeder clearing that analyst log jam allowing Cirillo to step up!
  10. Fukudome is a huge star with his own press following playing for the 3rd most popular team in baseball that leads its division. Braun isn't even having the best season for an outfielder on his own team in the smallest media market. Fukudome=Galaxy Braun=Red Dwarf
  11. I've said it before but Santana had a no trade clause-he would only waive it for an extension. So the only teams that could trade for him were teams that could pay him $22m per year. Basically the Yankees, Red Sox, and Mets. Anybody can trade for Sabathia. There are just more buyers. And neither Haren nor Bedard came cheap. And yes Sabathia isn't signable for the Brewers. Sheets probably could be had at $18m AAV for 5 years. Sabathia wants $22-24m AAV for 7 My problem with trading for Sabathia is then if they don't resign Sheets there is little left to trade to put together a rotation for next year. Basically its 2008 or bust. Eveland=Parra. Great stuff but coming off injury. The fact that the Milwaukee coaching staff didn't like him didn't mean Eveland was Ben Hendrickson.
  12. You really don't understand how important Ichiro is to the Mariners then. Fielder is likely liked in Japan due to his dad but Ichiro is near god like.
  13. I think you're selling McClouth short. A 26 year old who had an 810 OPS last year doesn't look that flukey.
  14. Yep, the fact that the local media rips itself to shreads if the Brewers score 6 runs but do it in the first 4 innings is one of the weirdest things ever. But again that is being lead by Bill Schroeder from the booth (Tack On Runs!). Same with our need for small ball was last year. And how the Brewers need to score more without the homerun. I'll also defend Yost when he said Tom Haudricort didn't understand baseball when he thought the Brewers were "sluggish" in Atlanta. The fact that Tom doesn't know that Campillo has been awesome this year says all you need to know.
  15. Again, people ignore the savings Cleveland gets if they trade Sabathia instead of letting him leave. The get like $5m in salary relief plus $1-2m in draft bonues they don't have to pay. $6-7m isn't chump change.
  16. The Mariner's don't need Fielder, they need like 4 players. It makes no sense straight up because if the Mariner's thought they could compete in the next 3 years they wouldn't trade Hernandez and if they can't they don't want Fielder.
  17. Once Sheets and Sabathia are off the market it comes down to Penny and Burnett on the market as the next best pitchers available. He could get $10M+ in the free agent market next year. The Dodgers have an option on Penny for $8.75 million with a $2m buyout. Meaning the marginal cost of keeping him is just $6.75m. He's not going to be a free agent unless he gets severely injured.
  18. Obviously that's bad, but I'm saying that he has had many more good games than bad. He has just been really, really bad when he's been off. If you take out his three terrible, horrible, awful games - the one at New York, the Cubs debacle, and the Orioles game - his WHIP drops to better than the NL average (if I did the math correctly, not counting tonight). I know that those games count just like his good ones, but my point is that he has given the team a chance to win in most of his starts. Just a few games can blow stats out of whack. I'm not saying he's an All Star or "worth" his salary, but overall, he has done a decent job this year. You're forgetting the Washignton game where he gave up 5 unearned runs in one inning. Most major league pitchers aren't going to crap out every single time, they are too good for that. But all have really bad starts, the really good ones might have 2 a season, the bad ones like 8 to 10.
  19. He has had a great knack though for giving up mostly unearned runs!
  20. Getting Suppan the win is more important than actually winning the game
  21. Fielder doesn't have an MVP award. Its a huge difference.
  22. Burnett may opt out of the contract after 2008 Right there
  23. Is there anything more annoying than waiting for an email about a job that should have come Friday and now its Tuesday?
  24. And I really doubt KC takes that for Greinke. They don't have to trade Greinke any time soon so they'd need to be blown away.
