  1. Major league players that could be traded are Hall, Dillon, Kapler, Rivera and Stetter/Dillard if either are on the team at that time. Not exactly great shakes
  2. The Santana trade is not a good barometer. Santana had a no trade clause and any team trading for him would have to sign him at $20m+ a year for 6 years for him to waive it. He's making $19 m this season compared to Harden's $4.5m this year and $7m next year or Bedard's $7m this year and about $9m next year or Gerinke's $1.4m this and likely $15m total for the next two seasons.
  3. And I'd trade neither for Sabathia when there are other pitchers out there with contracts lasting longer than 3 months that are available
  4. 1B really is a new position for him. He was a catcher whose knees went. If you want to amek a case that eh Brewers shoudl punt next year if they can't sign Sheets because the pitching won't be there, I can get that. But then Fielder isn't the only one who should be moved, you can add Hardy, Hall, Kendall, Hart if he doesn't sign an extension, Suppan, and Torres.
  5. LaPorta is a vlauble commodity. In fact it will be easier to trade LaPorta for starting pitchign than it will Fielder. LaPorta could come in, hit like Weeks his first season and play the same defense.
  6. Bedard was injury plagued, had only two years remaining, and got Jones plus.
  7. Can you qualify for rent assistance? There are some great places in Milwaukee in the 3rd and 5th wards if you can. I used to live here in a 2B: http://www.rent.com/rentals/wisconsin/milwaukee-and-vicinity/milwaukee/viking-apartments/686694/1/?sp=1&searchrank=1 But its changed hands. NLE offers the chance to build up equity for a down payment on one of their condos if you think you might be in Milwaukee for awhile : http://nledevelopment.com/apartments.html Big decision is if you ant air or not. Some great places for very reasonable rates but they lack air
  8. When I pointed out that Yost said Shouse is no longer a situational lefty and that's a crazy thing to say Yost defenders have now informed me that I'm not take anything Yost says as important.
  9. I think "Drunken Louts vs Really Obnoxious Drunken Lout" is more descriptive
  10. DiFeliece's BABIP against LHers in AAA was .185. That would be where the fluke seems to be.
  11. Amazing how much Fielder's weight fluctuates! His recent cold steak must have added 20lbs!
  12. Not sure how you think Santana isn't enough for Fielder. Fielder would be unlikely to get him, the Brwers would ahev to add assuming Santana doesn't fall apart going forward. Fielder just isn't going to bring an established top of the line starter
  13. LaPorta hit almost as well as Alex Gordon did in AA so he'd definitely come in and mash!
  14. They are incredibly lucky. They are 8 games better than their adjusted standings
  15. Pretty sure it has happened before
  16. That or a manager not more interested in getting his starter a win instead of winning the game
  17. Not quite the track record of Haren. It would likely take two major pieces plus two minors ones to land him. The big problem woudl be if the Royals would want pitching back because the Brewers really have little to offer.
  18. The problem with getting this #2 who will never get injured is that he doesn't exist. Who are you going to get? Trade for Greinke who has never pitched more than 183 innings due to injury and other issues? And save maybe $8 million a year with him over Sheets but have to give up two major prospects to get? Trade for Bedard and have him be the "man"? He misses huge chunks of time and will likely cost $12 million next year. Sign Randy Wolf who basically didn't pitch much at all between 2004 and 2007? Sign a 41 year old Maddux and pray he doesn't collapse? Sign Derek Lowe at for his age 36-38 seasons even though his ERA is a full run higher away from run surpressing Dodger Stadium?
  19. They don't have the proven veteran leadership of a Craig Counsell or a Jeff Suppan keeping them from collapsing in the 2nd half!
  20. But draft picks aren't going to help the Rockies next year, Pena could. I also think people tend to view draft picks as free when in fact they are rather costly. So the Rockies can hold onto Fuentes pay him $2.5 million for the rest of this year, get two draft picks and pay them signing bonuses in the $1.5-2 million range or they can save $4 million or so and get players ready to contribute sooner.
  21. I think you are severely undervaluing Sizemore. And If the Brewers can't afford Fielder in 2012 no way can they afford Sizemore. He's a good defensive CFer with a career OPS of .859 and is hitting as well as Fielder is this year.It would take Fielder and LaPorta to get the Indians to listen.
  22. Oakland is 4.5 back and has a +67 run differential while the Angels are +18. They are 4 games out of the wild card. You need another month to determine if the A's are buyers or sellers.
  23. McClung has a .246 BABIP. I know lots of people loved his last start but most times you walk 5 in less than 7 innings you're in real trouble.
  24. Neither Wiliams nor Redd have a bad contract.
  25. KC is supposedly shopping him. Of course this is coming from the same baseball "minds" that swore Sheets was available in the off season.
