  1. If he keeps getting gifted AS appearances, no doubt.
  2. At this point its really hard seeing Lopes staying on the 40 man. He's at best 4th on the depth chart at any position once Escobar is back: 2B: Wong, Peterson, Escobar, Urias, Perez, Lopes SS: Adames, Urias, Escobar, Perez, Lopes 3B: Urias, Escobar, Perez, Lopes(?), Peterson(?)
  3. Thats nice to see. He was a guy I dreamed on from that trade. Sorta the thing with international signings 8years to make your Big League debut, just too long to hold on to. Seen on twitter Hedbert Perez promoted to Carolina. Good sign for us. Talking about old Brewers, Mauricio Dubon is still in MLB with Giants (AAA right now). And more than that he is only 27.
  4. OK, could not remember if that was only for pitchers. Didn't it use to be you could avoid the limit and call them up sooner but the player accrued service time for the entire period they were sent down?
  5. Cueto is on the COVID list but not with COVID....it's weird. He tested negative twice Sounds like he just came back to the US so they might be taking some extra precautions.
  6. Does anyone know what the rules are now for players traveling with a team? I was just wondering if the Brewers could just constantly cycle through Reyes, Ray and Maile depending on the need of the day in the last roster spot. Reyes if they need to cover the infield, Ray if they want a chance at some offense, and Maile if they want to give a catcher a close to guaranteed day off.
  7. Thanks for posting. It does appear that the Reds are going to backslide into the playoffs because the Padres are somehow performing even poorer than the Reds are. The Reds had a favorable schedule and did little with it. By my count they have been 16-11 in August for a .593 winning percentage. So they are doing fine. Its just not a rate that will get them the division.
  8. Taking PAs away from Suarez is a net win for the Reds.
  9. He missed over 1/2 of 2014. Strained left quadriceps. But other than that, he's been pretty healthy. Also, he missed about month or so with knee surgery in 2012. Thanks! Yelich being a string bean worries me. He also seems to have had intermittent back issues and broke his thumb earlier this year.
  10. Not to jinx it, but this looks to be the 12th win in 15 games versus the Cubs this season. The Brewers tend to only have the that type of record versus the Pirates.
  11. Wow… Caldwell ‘78!!! 2.36 ERA, 23 mind you complete games, 293.1 IP That’s my pick for best season. I’d go… Caldwell, Higuera, Sheets out of what you listed. Our guys are not close to these three yet. Two months of pitching might change that, although I’m still taking Caldwell regardless…. and that is in the American League with the DH! Keep in mind that the late 1970s were a really different time. I mean Phil Nierko is a somewhat a special case but he pitched 334 innings as a 39 year old in 1978 with a 2.88 era in 44 starts. Lots of pitchers approached 40 starts and 300 innings. Not to say Caldwell didn't put up one of the greatest Brewer pitching seasons, but that it was in line with what great pitching seasons looked like in the late 1970s which look completely different to things 40+ years later.
  12. Sheets 04 towers over them all. Then the 3 year Higuera run, Sabathia in 2008, Caldwell in 1978. As for having 3 good starters at the same time, the 2006 Brewers were more good than great like we are seeing now. I mean Sheets in 2006 is similar to Burnes in that he put up 4 wins in just over 100 innings.
  13. The Cubs know the when you are the house, wining or losing does not matter, all that matters is the vig: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31967120/take-the-sportsbook-betting-site-next-wrigley-field-approved
  14. Trust me I get that, too....they've thrown a TON of money at Wrigley renos and property development and I'm sure it helped trigger this, starting with dealing Darvish in the offseason for a pile of teenage lottery tickets from the Padres....that being said, if their front office was as smart as they all thought they were the organization in general would've had more talent in the pipeline now and made better free agency/trade decisions over the past 3-4 seasons. Two big things occured: They signed Heyward and he immediately stopped hitting. He still has two years left. They never replaced Zorbrist's production even though given his age they had to plan for him to be gone.
  15. Unless the Cubs pick up his salary, Bryant should not be that expensive. But it seems the Cubs have been picking up salary to get better returns. Ways to get Donaldson and Buxton from the Twins if the Brewers want to take on salary.
  16. Angels holding onto Cobb to get that .500 season!
  17. Is his Fangraphs page correct that Olsen needed to added to 40 man this year or face the Rule 5 draft? If that is the case, the Brewers easily may not have wanted to tie a 40 man spot on guy not ready but also could see another team stashing a guy who can hit 97 in the bullpen all year. So he may have been available because of that.
  18. Risk is that it might take a season for Madrigal to return to form or he may never do so. I'm not sure what recovery from hamstring surgery looks like, especially for a player based around speed.
  19. In general 2B is a position that is consistently overlooked in MLB. Its why you can get a 3 win 2B like Wong at 3/$25M while paying $10M per year for the hope Garcia blooms into a 3 win outfielder.
  20. I mean its weird, but Voit has really only played one full MLB season (2019). He's been bad this year and is already 30. 31 year old averageish 1B get non-tendered all the time.
  21. He was a multi-inning guy last year. Maybe just trying to reduce the number of innings Suter pitches going forward. Suter's workload is climbing quickly.
  22. The guy has been a 3-3.5 win pitcher consistently. That is incredibly valuable.
