  1. I guess why? Sure normally the 1 or 2 seed will have an easy series but with the Nets lurking that isn't a guarantee. And the Cavs and Hawks aren't pushovers. Really the worst playoff team in round 1 is likely the Bulls.
  2. Ramos had surgery on his ACL in September. Not sure if he is ready
  3. Sure as does Fangraphs for 2021. Navarez was also 65th with a negative value in 2019. So yeah he is projected to return closer to his mean. Do I believe he won't fall off so far, yeah. But unless you personally touch everyone based on feel this is what one would expect. Given Navarez's terrible September, I'd worry about the added load of not have Pina around causing all his numbers to fall off.
  4. Cooper has injury concerns but if the Packers knew Adams was this close to gone they should have been in on him. Woods has injury concerns but they also should have been willing to go after him too. At least there are lots of possession types still available.
  5. Could this be why Z. Smith suddenly reversed course on his Raven's contract? Packers can afford him now.
  6. The NL finally getting strategy back in the game with the DH only to kill it again with the double hook would be a Manfred move of the first order.
  7. When rebound we are talking rebounding to 2019, so 3 years ago to around a 120 wRC+ (of course that would just be an average DH). That is a large ask. Maybe the more reasonable ask is that he not hit an age 35 cliff and fall off to unplayable levels.
  8. McCutchen at this point is a terrible fielder. Yelich, which everyone here seems to think is terrible, was 2 OAA in left field last year. McCutchen was -5 OAA. Other stats agree. McCutchen has the bat to play corner OF at an average level but not the glove. He would be a situational player at DH.
  9. The first drive instead of taking the field goal, they stopped the Packers, got a short field and a TD. Which is one of the reason you go on 4th down deep. Harbaugh and Baltimore were operating as if they were a 7+ point underdog. Which they were. Its also why The OT was not really 50/50 to win, but like 66/33 like the beginning of the game.
  10. Statcast has their OOA the same last year at -2. So both slightly below average. Now UZR gives a lot of errors to Renfroe which causes him to fall. It may be if he stops using his arm as much he'll be better.
  11. Here is the 4th down bot break down. Other analytics will have it similar, many with a much higher WP change (edjsports has this as 18.9% positive decision). The big take away here is that it was the right call but if you are risk averse that huge drop in WP% on failure will cause you to punt.
  12. Bowl presidents, FIFA officers, and IOC members
  13. Well it depends on how you grade his defense. Statcast and UZR think he has been really bad. DRS thinks he was about average.
  14. This is unconfirmed but does not include all the other amenities USC will bring in terms of being able to earn: Given recent contracts by MSU and PSU are fully guaranteed, that $110 million and assorted bonuses are all set. No NFL team would pay close to that for a untested college coach. Gruden's contract was the closest in terms of dollars and that was not going to be repeated by a non-Raider team.
  15. I wonder if the Brewers are hampered by the amount of money they receive in revenue sharing. Any change to the formula impacts revenue more for the Brewers than any other team. So its hard to commit to a payroll until its known that they will still will receive the ~$80 to $100 million they receive each year going forward.
  16. Nebraska put themselves into desperation mode wasting so much time under 2 min. I get not wanting to leave time on the clock for a winning drive but WI does not have a quick strike offense. 30 seconds and 5 seconds are nearly identical.
  17. The hold occurred because the guy was completely beat. If he doesn't hold that's a sack.
  18. Well the Vikings are playing the Chargers so...
  19. That is because the team picking them almost always sucks, though. And someone usually need the guy to play well to avoid being fired. No, its because teams need to make a decision after year 3. For first round picks, the 5th year option needs to be picked up or refused after year 3. For other rounds, its the last chance to get an extension before you enter the franchise tag arena of Kirk Cousins. The 5th year option is still a sizable amount of money for a QB (over $18 million I think now) so you are basically at nearly commitment level. If you don't pick up the option then you again are at the mercy of the franchise tag after year 4. You really need that 1st round QB to be starting by year 2 to even hope to be able to evaluate him fully by the end of year 3. Choose wrong and you have $20-30 million on your cap you are trying to kill off if he is bad or you now need to to try to work out a deal with a QB who is looking at getting franchise tag money for one year after you thought you were going to move on and he performed.
  20. Aikmen is talking about the LBs looking in the backfield but most plays go right to that leaking RB. Few QBs will throw that across the field.
  21. Even Love can eventually find Sorenson
  22. Well that is 6 wins. Given how bad they looked at the beginning of the season there was a chance they might have missed a bowl altogether this year. Still could see them dropping the Minnesota game which could keep them from being pounded by Ohio State. In general everything has improved except Mertz. Not sure what you do about that. (I hear maybe the Mannings have a QB camp?)
  23. Yes. He's a 1.5 win backup catcher. Not resigning him would be bad. I know people got excited about 30 PAs from Maile in September, but he had a 88 wRC+ in AAA.
  24. Not sure Houston-Arizona will be end up being much better but at least it is still a game
  25. How fitting would it be to watch Mike McCarthy’s team end Aaron Rodgers’ Packers career after Rodgers ended McCarthy’s Packer career? McCarthy keeping Rodgers from getting to the Super Bowl isn't a novel thing.
