  1. At this point given that Maddux is still good so I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to get a 400th win. I don't think he can, but it is within reach with 2 additional years.
  2. If by the same way you mean completely different, then yes. LaRussa removed his closer, Yost would still be sending Gagne out there if Gagne didn't tell anyone who'd listen that he shouldn't close right now.
  3. They are going to explain to Ned why the name Scott Norwood should be known by anyone who coaches for a living.
  4. Why? Washburn isn't better than anybody the Brewers have right now. Now if you want a replacement for a traded Suppan, sure. But that would be after Suppan is traded.
  5. Maddux is much better than Suppan, he's a clear 2/3 type pitcher. Maddux's FIPs 2005 4.06, 2006 3.80, 2007 3.58, 2008 3.75. Now part of that is likely due to park effect, but he'd be around a 4 ERA type. Which is also why if it was any team besides the Padres Gwynn wouldn't be close to enough since Maddux's contract isn't bad at all.
  6. Shouse is the archetype of a LOOGY. Mota has walked way too may as has McClung. Torres has been good.
  7. And if we ignore all his home runs he has been even worse!
  8. His pop ups aren't the problem, his fly ball rate is exactly like it was last season. His GB% is up by a huge amount. His GB% is 49.1% compared to 41.6% last season
  9. Weeks hasn't been that unlucky, he hasn't been driving the ball. BABIP should be about 11 points highther than a player's LD%. Week's LD% is at a putrid 11.6% leading to his BABIP of .206. Weeks needs to drive the ball.
  10. They made Loria more money than god while having the rest of MLB pick up the check.
  11. I never believe trade rumors about players who are about to sign contract extensions so I take the Linecum for Rios deals with a big grain of salt.
  12. And Dillon sits on the bench while we see Counsell and Gwynn.... Bring up Nelson
  13. Well in this game hasn't happened since the 1st
  14. They just did it with Rivera and Villaneuva the other day.
  15. Not only was it a pitch out, it was the 2nd one so there was no way you were fooling anybody
  16. The Brewer try to hit and run all the time
  17. Np Bill starting off the inning with a home run is worse than either an error or a walk
  18. Brenly destroyed Kim's career. He's not a very good manager
  19. Which is why these 4 games with the Cardinals are so important. If the Brewers sweep or win the series they close the gap. If they lose the series they are in deep trouble and if they're swept, god forbid, the season is really close to over. Which is why I think Yost has these 4 games to do something.
  20. Thing is, 82 wins is not the goal, 90 wins is the goal.
  21. If by success you mean his 6.32 BB/9 is meaningless because it comes in games already decided, sure!
  22. Looks like Yost vs LaRussa with Yost's job in the balance
  23. Someone want to inform Bill and Brian that Ramirez is a terrible short stop defensively?
