  1. Really don't understand the move now. Spurling just didn't suddenly become bad, he was always bad.
  2. Obviously we are ignoring the solution to all teh Brewers problems. Sign ARod in the offseason and move Braun to left! We improve the offense and the defense! If Mark A was serious about winning , he'd do it!
  3. 1) Ibanez? How is a guy who'll be 36 next year whose hitting .269 .327 .435 and who can't play defense any type of upgrade? 2). Cameron is going to be 35 next year and is not the same player he was in Seattle. He's currently hitting .251 .323 .435. Just because you heard of the guy doesn't make him anything like an upgrade.
  4. Dunn is yet to be a free agent. Cincy will pick up his option at least, and likely trade him to a team who'll give him a huge extension. So not noyl will you pay a lot for a player who'll likely see a huge decline in 2 years, you'll be giving up talent as well. And the Brewers really don't need another defensive hole. 5 are enough, thank you. As to paltoon mates for Jenkins? Dillon is already here. And eh could actually be a better 4th Ofer over can't hit righties Mench.
  5. Again its not your fault but the real conflict in MLB is between large market owners and small market owners no matter what the press thinks. There is a reason why the payroll tax affects only the Yankees, its because for MLB to agree to anything, you need 26 owners to agree. So you can't have much of anything that affects more than 1 or 2 teams negatively.
  6. Umm bkynbrecrew, the owners could have had a rookie salary cap. They don't want one.
  7. There has been, there is a reason why the WWE won't go to Oregon. But in general no body cares.
  8. Now aside from neither Hardy nor Weeks getting that much given how much time they missed, you gave McClung too many zeros. And I highly doubt Tampa does that trade. Vargas is under contract for only one more year he has little value for Tampa.
  9. Now Bud gets credit for arbitration?
  10. Halo 3 will sell a lot of copies, Microsoft is openly predicting first dale sales of over 2.5 million and given they have incentives to underestimate that number you could easily see like 2.75 million first day. And there is no reason to expect it to be less than quality. But its hardly going to push how people view games which is why it might win a bunch of fan choice awards but up against Bioshock (changing how shooters work), COD4 (much more traditional but very high quality), Mass Effect (huge scope plus revolutionary dialouge) and AC (changing action adventure framework). And that doesn't even go into Nintendo first part titles for the Wii like Mario, Metroid, and Smash Brothers.
  11. Usually there is a $50 reschedule fee. So you could go that route.
  12. Finally found where BP hid their Vorps per team on the new site. Jenkins VORP is 15, 5th on the team behind Fiedler, Braun, Hart and Hardy with Fielder and Braun lapping the rest and Hardy getting the big SS boost. Mench is at 0.4 Manny Parra is at 0.5. Pat Burell is at 25.3 And even with Sheets missing a month he's still the 31st starter by VORP
  13. GTA was pushed back until March.
  14. Bioshock drops in two weeks Mass Effect comes out in November. You could have Bioshock beaten by the time Mass Effect releases.
  15. Because the NFL player's union is a joke. The NBA had a really weak union, and still does to some extent. But the Larry Bird rule pretty much makes the NBA cap a joke anyway. Money is hardly ever the issue in the NBA for winning, it has much more to do with luck of the draft.
  16. What exactly happened? He was forced to play hurt? Forced maybe too strong, but he definitely was hurt and they didn't shut him down. When he first came up, he pretty much performed how one who think given how he killed AAA. Pre-All Star :.264/.361/.453. He got hurt sometime in July so Post All-Star .228/.321/.370. The big thing was that his power just shrunk away. In September he hit .231/.330/.321. As to Week's defense, lets no go overboard. He's still rather poor.
  17. Yeah it was Houston in Houston so whether or not that means anything will take awhile. That said, he's the best candidate for 8th assuming you don't Estrada there since no bunt could ever get him to 2nd.
  18. Its not just the wrist. His rookie season he had surgery on his thumb which is why he basically stopped hitting in the middle of July. (Yes I'm still upset the Brewers forced him out there). So he was rehabbing to begin last year then had the wrist injury which takes time just to heal. So its been over two years since Weeks has been fully healthy.
  19. Halo 3 will needs to be more than just Halo to win. Right now Bioshock, COD4, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect look to have better shots. Now that said, Bioshock demo on Live!
  20. No clue where you're getting that Vorp from for Mench-do they list him as a PH instead of an OFer? And Burrell vs Jenkins platoon isn't so clear cut--Jenkins is much, much better defensively. Jenkins and Burrell both have a WARP of 3 even with Jenkins only playing part time.
  21. Its not bad, but its hardly earth shattering. A .300/.363/.470 isn't an upgrade, especially at Holliday's cost. And an ISP of .170 away with at .323 at home is a scaryily huge difference. I'm not saying I'd be unhappy with Holliday in the outfield, just that if he played outside of Colorado he might not be a MVP type player.
  22. Holliday away from Coors is hitting .300/.363/.470. At home he's hitting .376/.436/.699. There is a big question about his true power level. As for Yount, he had over 100 RBIs. Yes its possible to win with less than 100, but it almost never happens.
  23. The biggest stats (if the right ones) tell you who has been most valuable. Braun hasn't been. And its due to the fact he missed 2 months. And those 2 months are important.
  24. Yes because then when you score only the one run you can have Spurling come in and pitch the 9th! Playing for only one run on the road when down when you won't use your best pitcher until you get the lead won't do much.
  25. Well, statistically, we are 13th in the NL in batting average with runners in scoring position, 14th in the NL in runners in scoring position and 2 outs. So I think the statistics definitely show that we struggle in that aspect. Surprisingly, we are 3rd in the NL in average with the bases loaded, and around the middle of the league (8th) in batting average in what is defined as "close and late" situations. Brewers overall batting line: .264 .330 .448 W/RISP: .256 .344 .431 W/RISP and 2 outs: .226 .340 .375 Not really sure how much more people expect especially since all NL teams take a hit at the last one due to facing pitchers.
