  1. See hardballtimes rates Fielder as average since while he isn't agile and so doesn't get much in the 1B zone, he makes a lot of out of zone plays due to his relatively high speed (ie the number of catches he makes in foul ground in right field). Braun though does have his problems.
  2. Reilley was the guy who uncritically repeated what one of the most disliked guys in baseball, Jeff Kent, had to say about Bonds. So yeah, he is in the forefront of the media who actively dislikes Bonds and has for years. It has nothing to do with steroids in his case.
  3. Here are the leaders in VORP in the NL: 1)Chase Utley 49.8 2) Hanley Ramirez 48.6 3) Miquel Cabrera 46.2 4) Chipper Jones 41.5 5) Barry Bonds 38.4 6) Aaron Rowand 37.8 7) Jose Reyes 37.7 8) Prince Fielder 37.1 9) Russell Martin 36.8 10) Matt Holliday 36.8 Ryan Braun VORP is currently 30, but his VORP rate is the highest in the majors. --------------------------------- (Fixed accidentally posted emoticon. 4. Two pitchers who are still in arby. No way would this be an inseason type deal. Trading away two starters is way too risky.
  5. Any other player who faced this would get at least 6 months. And this is far from Vick's only run in with the law.
  6. Because Bedard is that good. The problem is is that he's that good and so won't be traded by anything like a functioning team.
  7. It only affects the Yankees because no way does Major league owners allow it to affect more teams. Keep in mind you need almost all owners agreeing to somethign to get is passed (like 25 out of 30).
  8. Well he is WSSP's Brewer insider so that has to have a negative effect.
  9. Vargas has shown he can actually start in MLB. JDLR was a guy who only was on the 25 man because he had no options.
  10. Vargas is way too much for Lofton. Try more like Jackson or even Spurling. Keep in mind what rentals cost the Brewers last year.
  11. Lee was far, far from adequate. He scored a terrible FRAA of -17 between Milwaukee and Texas last year. And he's on the same pace with Houston this year with a -9 FRAA. His defense cost two wins last year and does a great job of neutralizing his bat.
  12. You keep saying Mench has been fine in the field. Based on what? BP has him below average. Hardballtimes has him near terrible in LF with a below 800 RZR. Sosa isn't an upgrade and Mench has been better than Lee but thats damning with faint praise.
  13. Weeks is just being a team player. He decided not to hit so no one notices how stinky Hardy has been.
  14. I'm sick of the "if he keeps up this pace he will be ROY!!" talk by people. If Braun keeps up his current pace he's an MVP shoo in. His VORPr or the rate at which his VORP goes up is higher than ARods right now.
  15. There was a little bit.. Just Ben said it hurt a little and Caplinger's name was dropped.
  16. This is all from Schroeder keeping talking about it. Same way suddenly 3 doubles in a row became "manufacturing runs." Seems to me manufacturing runs was a walk, steal, move over, sac fly. Now apparently its hitting the snot out of the ball as long as there isn't a home run.
  17. Its Buck and Mac. They were too busy talking about what might happen between innings or listening to Ken Rosenthal or flattering LaRussa to actually call the game.
  18. Well personally I'm only here for the stench.
  19. I wish that right now they'd send Gwynn down and bring Parra up since there is no long man today and likely tomorrow.
  20. Brian Roberts is 30 and is currently having his second good season ever. He is as likely as anyone to turn into the next Micheal Young.
  21. After all the Cubs got better after they moved Zambrano and his stinky ERA to the bullpen!
  22. Geoff Jenkins? 2001: .808 2002: .764 2003: .913 2004: .798 2005: .888 2006:.791 2007:.825
  23. The solid contributer Hart: .298/.368/.508 The irreplaceable Carlos Lee: .297/.354/.514
  24. Al it is underway, but you would have actually have to get off the freeway to see it. I know thats scary and all, but its true. The entire Third Ward has been remade and works is now starting on the 5th. Milwaukee's problems aren't downtown. They are on the northside of town, the westside of town and on the southside of town.
