  1. One name:Mike Hampton Suppan will likely post around 5 ERA in Milwaukee. I'm not sure why teams will be dying to take on a 33 year old guy at $11 million for two years who has had one good season in his career.
  2. Woohoo! Thank god we are able to afford Counsell!
  3. See the player who should be platooned is Jones.
  4. No I don't think thats the reason they weren't dealt. And its not just Mench and Jenkins but also Clark. The Phillies have been looking for just salary relief and can't dump Burrell.
  5. Salaries will go up, but the quality of player will go up more. Houston won't have $50 million in expiring contracts next year. Washington won't be handing every team an extra $10 million next year. Signing Suppan will be the only big move the Brewers would be able to make for 2-3 years. And anyone who says we can easily trade Suppan in two years should take a look at the Brewers current outfield situation.
  6. Probably due to need. My guess is he's marking time until a college coaching job opens up somewhere and is getting the requisite minor league time in.
  7. See, what you have to convince her now is that you should really make sure it works while you still have a chance to get a replacement before Christmas
  8. If he can play CF he is worth the play. I'm not sure he actually can do that though. And to say he had only a good half season is foolish. He had a bad spot coming back from injury.OPS by month April 1.096 May 1.009 June .816 July .429 (14 Abs) August .527 September .977
  9. Except for the move where his defense at catcher went down and his pitching got worse. You know the actual move he made outside of signing a back up SS
  10. Taveras in Coors makes sense. Taveras in LA makes some sense. Unless Miller is going to add another 50 feet in CF, Tavereas in Milwaukee makes no sense.
  11. What I heard from Target was that it was being held at the distribution center and being sent out so they have stock for the ad this Sunday. Best Buy has been holding them to have at least 25 per store for Sunday (some rumors say 40)
  12. Suppan would be really helpful next season. Its the following 3 he would be signed for that become an issue.
  13. Sorry those are actually 2006 numbers. And Huff's different postions are taken into account. Basically Jenkins superior on base skills lead him to a BRAR of 23 compared to 22 for Huff. Add in his FRAR of 12 compared to 3 for Huff.
  14. Jenkins' WARP in 2005: 3.9 Huff's WARP in 2005: 2.8 So yes, Jenkins is the better player.
  15. All those lousy Tampa Bay teams were still better then the Brewers were offensively.
  16. How about Jenkins bad years are the same as Huff's career numbers? Add in Jenkins defense and yes Jenkins is easily better.
  17. Jenkins is better. Koskie is better. Gross is better. Mench is the same. Hall is better. Fielder is better. Hart is better. The Brewers just have no room for him.
  18. Easy you put Gross in center, Jenkins in RF and Hall at 3B and trade Koskie to the Twins.
  19. Huff really can't play 3B. He has trouble in the outfield. He is poor at first. He hit .267/.344/.469 which is right about his career numbers. In Jenkins terrible year he hit .271/.357/.434 far below his career average. Koskie hit .261/.343/.490. Huff is really only slightly better than Mench and will cost at least twice as much.
  20. Huff isn't better than anyone already on the team.
  21. And if it was 2004 Braun could go ahead and throw the ball away all season long. The Brewers are no longer in a win in three years mode or at least they shouldn't be. The division is weak, and they have the pitching. It become even more important next year.
  22. Again Melvin said he didn't talk to them. Gord Ash, well thats another story.
  23. I'd have no problem doing this if it got rid of Clark. That's really enough.
  24. I agree I just think he will be stuck on the roster.
  25. No it makes the Hall move that much more baffling. Hall can played 3B at an average level in the major leagues. Braun can't play it an an average level in AA. Hall can likely play a good CF, but the difference between him and Gross is likely less than the difference between Hall and Braun defensively. Add to that the dire need the Brewers have for a corner OFer and I still don't get it.
