  1. My problem is that if Rivera just falls back to his career norms, the Brewers offense could easily be putrid. You can point to what, catcher and maybe 3B to be above average offensively next season without Hall? And we're not talking about world beaters there. It would be entering the season with a great staff but just hope that the offense can do enough to score.
  2. Rivera had a great year as a 28 year old. As a 27 year old he was: .271/.316/.454 For his career: .291/.341/.474 Which is distinctly average for an outfielder. He may have reached a new plateu, but that is a risk. VORPs from last season: Hall (as SS) 44.3 Rivera 33.5 (100 less PAs) Santana 30.2
  3. Al, he wasn't good in the majors. He was hammered. He had a WHIP of 1.63. And his control in AAA is what's worrisome.
  4. Jackson had one good game against Cincy and it blocks out everbody's view of what really happened. I saw Jackson pitch and I saw a guy who was hit hard and had trouble pitching. People talk about him controlling walks. Well yeah, if batters are hitting over .300 against him, walks really aren't the problem. He did better than Hendrickson and Eveland but thats hardly anything. He then had problems with AAA hitters.
  5. Stewart's line as a Twin in 2003: .322/.384/.470/.854 More proof that baseball writers aren't the brightest bunch of guys.
  6. I know addressing the point is beneath you but Jackson was bad as a Brewers and was bad in Nashville. Hard to see why he is a good choice for anything.
  7. Cubs aren't overpaying but you'd think they can't really afford another injury risk on top of the MASH unit that is their current rotation.
  8. Given that ZackJack was a terrible pitcher in MLB and AAA last year he would hurt your team.
  9. Or maybe they finally realized that Hardy should be in AAA for the foreseeable future.
  10. Not just aging pitchers, aging pitchers with high injury risk due to high use.
  11. Sorry Briggs, but you seem not to understand business. Managers who treat their employees like crap don't get very far. Getting the reputation of trading players after they come for less then market means you won't get players taking less than market to stay. The Brewers can't afford market.
  12. Stewart is a Royals type signing. Hopefully he catches lightening and you trade him come July when you're 20 games back.
  13. Unless Miller asks to leave, no. You don't go about trading guys who take hometown discounts if you're the Brewers because you'll need those discounts going forward. Pissing off Miller means you'll have greater trouble signing others.
  14. Hank Aaron's a great player too.
  15. Stewart at this point is nice pinch hitter. Thats really it. But if the Brewers see him more than the #5 OFer it shows they have given up on truly competing in 2007.
  16. More ehhh. Not an upgrade and a large injury risk. He'll be cheap and thats about it. EDIT: He hasn't played in more than 140 games since 2002 when he had 141. Last year it was 44, 2005 132, and 2004 92. He's as fragile as Drew without the offense or defense.
  17. Go after Bonds first. He'll be just as good at a lower cost with no need to trade anything.
  18. Penny and dodgers management haven't been the best of friends so he probably is available. That said, Jenkins won't do it. Now Jenkins, Vargas, and Jackson maybe a starting point.
  19. For Crawford you're likely looking at Bush and Gallardo (though Inman might be possible) and low level position/relief prospect. After trading Davis, doubt the Brewers can do it.
  20. Thing is Crisp right now is junk.
  21. Yeah Lee at first could happen, but my guess it would make the Sheffield at first experiment look good.
  22. Giles isn't leaving San Diego and apparently the Padres are bringing in his brother.
  23. You do those moves and you write off the Brewers for 2007. Losing Hall would destroy any chance of a decent offense. The Brewers don't have extra offense that they can trade away. And Figgins at 3B would make him one of he worst players in the league at that position.
  24. I'd laugh so hard at the Angels that I'd think I'd bust a blood vessel.
  25. Why? Jones is a worse player than Jenkins and really needs to be platooned.
