  1. Herndrickson might have trouble, but Moeller can't throw out anyone. I think we'll have a Fernandez sighting today.
  2. The Brewers deal with injuries this way all the time. If you watched Spivey go day to day for a month you'd recognize the pattern.
  3. The big deal is that it doesn't work. Pitchers pitch poorly on three days rest. Yes if they spent the last 15 years pitching on 3 days rest there might not be a problem, but they haven't. The big qeustion someone should find out is if Bush didn't pitch on the side meaning they knew Sheets was not going already.
  4. In both situations, man on 2B, one out, tie game, bottom of the 9th you walk the next batter. That run doesn't matter and it sets up a double play. The fact that it has come up twice now and they did the wrong thing both times is disheartening. Last night maybe you could understand with both Yost and Yount gone (though you'd think the other coaches have looked at strategy before) but tonight there is no excuse for not walking Nomar(or whoever is batting).
  5. When is Hardy going to get dropped in the order? He has a lower OBP than Clark right now. A sup 300 OBP should not be hitting 2nd.
  6. Why JDLR on consecutive days? Edit: I assume they are saving Lehr for multiple innings on Saturday, but isn't Kolb still part of the team.
  7. No you don't. This is what's maddening. People pretending that just putting the ball in play will score runs. It doesn't. The Cubs had men on first and third in the bottom of third and put the ball in play afte Walker's single and no one scored. Lee put the ball in play in the top of the 5th and killed the Milwaukee rally with a GIDP.
  8. You haven't had a man in scoring position all night, you are in the bottom fo the 7th, so your catcher may not even bat again, Moeller is a career .231 hitter no matter how well he is doing so far this year, on teh becnh you have Cirillo and Clark both guys who will likely hit .280 or so this year. I don't blame Moeller for not coming through because while he could, it isn't to be expected. But I do blame the manager for not giving the team its best shot by getting his best average hitters a chance to get a base hit.
  9. It isn't Moeller's fault that Yost won't pinch hit for him.
  10. So Ned won't even pinch hit for Moeller in the bottom of the 9th?
  11. You have to pinch hit for Moeller in that situation. Well Capellan's doing his best not to have to worry about it
  12. Prince has always hit for a better average than Gwynn.
  13. JJ is tied for third in CS with 0!
  14. Same old Brewers! As in all those old Brewers teams with .500 records. Remember them all? The Brewers have a better record than the Yankees. Give it a rest.
  15. You think Sheets is showing Yost his line against Oswalt so he can be used to PH?
  16. Gross slg% .326 in his major league career coming into the year. 4 hrs in 221 Abs.
  17. Jeter would never allow the Yankees to have a bad roadtrip. His unearthly clutchness woudl keep that from happening. Sure they currently have a worse record than the Brewers. And sure they are actually 3-6 on the road so far. But that just an optical illusion.
  18. You're the one who pretends that nothing worse than a strikeout can occur when you put the ball in play. Thats just not the case. The most often culprit is player going on contact. And that is so much worse than a strike out . My point is that I'd much ratehr see a ball hit hard and balls that players swing at or take for strike 3 are unlikely to be hard hit balls.
  19. Actually no, the strikeout still isn't the worst out in those situations. The worst outs are: the ball hitting the man on third in fair territory, a ball hit sharply to the infield with the runner going on contact and gets thrown out at the plate, and of course the line out to the 3B leading to a double play. And there are countless outs in which are the same as striking out.
  20. The problem is that the "if only" game can be played in any situation. "If only" Ben Sheets hit his target, Nady doesn't hit the home run. "If only" Carlos Lee had a decent day, the Brewers could have won. People focus on the K's because they believe that its easy to stop the Ks. After all such professional hitters like Bob Uecker and Bill Schroeder say it is, so it must be true.
  21. Free Corey Hart! Or at least let him walk around a bit...
