    As tough as it was to watch our Brewers fall apart against the Dodgers, I'm convinced it's a lot easier to take as a fan than it would have been to lose in a Game 7, especially in heartbreaking fashion. After we lost the first two, my psyche was prepared to lose, so while it was obviously still disappointing and I still had a tiny bit of hope, I wasn't really upset by the time the season was over. Being a Mariners fan right now would be an entirely different feeling.

    The Brewers pitching was good in the playoffs. The Brewers hitting was bad, and it wasn't because of depth. With pitchers no longer hitting, you don't need hitting depth in the playoffs.

    I don't think Woodruff is going to be on the team next year. The way he was talking at the end of the year, it sounded like he knew his days in Milwaukee were over.

    It is kind of crazy that, despite how terrible the hitting has been, we're actually not that far from being up 2-1. If Turang doesn't get out of the way of the pitch (and I don't blame him at all), we might have won. If Muncy doesn't make a great play yesterday, Bauers scores an early go-ahead run. One more well-timed hit in that game and things could be a lot different. Not saying we "should have" won the games, just that we were actually pretty close.

    I have zero expectation of a series win, but at least a tiny bit of hope at this point. If we go down 3-0 or 3-1, then I'll have zero hope (though a little will return if we turn 3-1 into 3-2). It's weird - I think to myself that there's no way we keep hitting this badly, so that gives me some optimism, but at the same time, I feel like our pitching has held up better than I expected (yeah, I know we gave up 5 last game), so part of me also thinks the Dodgers are due to start mashing.

    Just go with a regular starting pitcher. Start Quintana, see if he can go 5 or 6. Obviously, if he falters, then you have to go to Plan B and use a bunch of relievers. Then tomorrow, either start Miz and see how long he can go, or if you want an opener, do that and then let Miz go as long as he can. We don't have aces as our #3 and #4 like the Dodgers do, but they are still viable starting pitchers (I'm admittedly not sold on Miz yet, but he has shown he can give you bunch of innings when he's doing well). I would just try to get as much as you can out of them so you have some arms left for Game 5 if you get that far. Obviously the calculus changes with a loss tonight. I'd still go with my plan, but be much more willing to use everyone tomorrow.

    Right, because Uke was still an important part of the team and was very close to the players and staff. Selig hasn't owned the Brewers in a long time and while I'm sure he still has relationships with people in the organization (he was at the Uke tribute, after all), no players were around when either he or his family members owned the team. Brandon Woodruff isn't going to get emotional, saying, "We have to win one for Bud, a man who I have never known...well except for that one time I met him briefly...because he brought the Brewers to Milwaukee!"

    Seems like they had a strategy of being aggressive. It's kiiiind of worked, as Chourio jumped on the first pitch for a homer and they've been hitting the ball hard, but obviously the trade off is that they aren't making the pitcher work.

    I know people are going to say, "Who cares about feelings, you have to put the best team out there," but I feel like benching the team's leader could be a big morale killer. Yes, I know the other response will be, "Him flailing at lefties is a bigger morale killer."

    He's not necessarily being literal. It's an old saying that the backup QB is the most popular player among fans because as soon as things go south for the starter, fans are calling for the backup to play. Grass is always greener, that sort of thing.

    Because Selig is still alive? I don't really get why there has to be "attention" paid to him...because the Brewers are in the playoffs and won a series? I'm not saying not to appreciate him, but it's pretty obvious why everyone has been talking about Bob Uecker this season.
