  1. I think they did that for a while. For years, the deadline was June 15.
  2. Sunday is a business day during the season, and I seem to recall Sunday trade deadlines in the past. I wonder if there's something unusual besides July 31 falling on a Sunday.

  6. I see jerichoholicninja's point. When we talk about games below .500, we subtract wins from losses. When we talk about games behind the next team in the standings, that number is cut in half. It'd be confusing if we weren't used to it.

  8. This is the Villar quote that I'm finding: As far as addressing the question in more detail, we don't know specifically what was asked or if there were followup questions. All we really know is that those three sentences were quoted. He may or may not have said more.

  10. Craig said that the first inning was "out of the Twilight Zone." He doesn't attribute the fielding errors to carelessness. Villar coming out of the game was due to the "baserunning situation." Jonathan understands why he was taken out.
  11. You can't give performance bonuses for things like steals. Situations like Villar's would demonstrate exactly why bonuses for that kind of stat are prohibited. As far as Jonathan himself, I don't think he's selfish or anything like that. I think it's simply a situation where his instincts kick in faster than his brain.
  12. No, Craig was in the front office. I think he may have instructed in spring training.
  13. They've been talking a lot about it now. Craig and Jonathan have been having a conversation. Nobody looks pissed or anything. Matt and Bill are suggesting that there are things that can be explained on the bench during a game that might not be as effective otherwise.
  14. It sounds that way from reading the thread. I just tuned in, so I was wondering if the announcers said anything.

  16. I don't have a problem with the concept behind the quality start, but I have a problem with the stat's name. Maybe it should be called an adequate start.
  17. We've talked about this in the Transactions forum. Catchers — especially starting catchers — rarely change hands at the trade deadline. Like others here, I'd love to reap the benefits of a Lucroy trade. But given the circumstances, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen until the off-season.
  18. You could tell there were an unusual number of fans cheering for the Diamondbacks, and they seemed to be near the third base dugout. I was surprised that Chip Hale brought Shipley out for the sixth inning. He was at a point where he had been successful, and he was at 92 pitches after five. Hindsight is 20/20, but that would have been a great time to leave well enough alone.

  20. I accidently tapped a link on espn.com, and it took me to porn. The porn site broke the back button, so I couldn't use that to get back to the page I wanted to be on. This is a huge reason why people have ad blockers. I don't have an aggressive ad blocker on my iPad. Methinks I'm going to get one.
  21. Addison doesn't intersect with Waveland. Sorry, but I couldn't resist. Carry on.
