  2. I think the weight room is likely the responsibility of the Manatees. Generally, the minor league team provides the facilities and the employees related to runnng them. The major league team provides the players, coaches, and trainers.

  4. In the game that brewers4eric mentioned, Yount was hitting third and playing center; Young was hitting 5th and DH-ing. When Young came to bat, Tigers manager Sparky Anderson argued that Yount was being pinch hit for and needed to be removed. The ump agreed, and Robin was taken out of the game. The next day, the American League office said that the Brewers should have simply lost the DH. The 2013 Giants were the most recent team to bat out of order to start a game. Also that year, the Rangers hit out of order after mid-game substitutions. The last time the Brewers hit out of order was 1996. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/385476641.html
  5. Hopefully they will both be more careful in the future. That's why I'm not particularly wound up. It's a lesson that's likely to stick.
  6. I checked out all my toys. On the iPad and on both Apple TVs, I'm getting what's expected. I get the A's game, and the Brewers are blacked out. In Google Chrome on the Mac, it's the opposite. I have access to the Brewers but not the A's. So I'm figuring that Macs/PCs are more apt to rely on IP addresses while app-based devices will rely on actual physical location.
  7. The broadcasters said that it was probably the bench coach's job. On one hand, it's inexcusable. But in the grand scheme of things, I can't see getting too wound up about it. It'll be interesting to see if we get a post-mortem.
  8. Dude on the broadcast just said that Hernán Pérez was a waiver pickup from Detroit "just over a month ago." His notes must have said that Hernán came over in 2015 and the guy forgot what year it is.
  9. The general practice for jerseys is that they can't be similar in color. You can't have two teams in blue jerseys or one team in dark blue and the other in black. In this case, one jersey is red and the other is blue, so there isn't a problem.
  10. Here are some photos of today's uniforms. [space][/space][space][/space] [space][/space][space][/space] [space][/space][space][/space]
  11. The final out of the first inning goes to Lucroy rather than Braun. Gameday has the non-at-bat written up as "Jonathan Lucroy grounds out to catcher Wilson Ramos."
  12. So Braun made the last out of the first inning and is the first batter in the second. I'll adjust the lineup in the lead.
  13. Something's wrong with the lineup card that the Brewers turned in. Apparently, Braun and Lucroy were switched. Braun singled and was subsequently called out after a challenge by Dusty Baker.
  14. They do this every Independence Day. This is comparable to the Red Sox playing morning games on Patriot's Day. Back in the olden days when the [cite]Milwaukee Journal[/cite] was an afternoon paper, we'd usually see the results of the Patriot's Day game written up on the same day it was played.
  15. It would be more likely to black out the A's and Giants. I haven't checked to see what's happening, but I think MLB.TV generally relies on more sophisticated means to determine my location. I'm sure that it insisted on using Location Services on my Apple TV. I don't know what it does on the Mac. But I do know that Google Chrome has never asked for access to my location. That's the only browser I can use to watch MLB.TV because it's the only browser I have that does Flash.

  17. If it ever gets to the point where I learn to spell Nieuwenhuis, I'm going to want the Brewers to keep him.
  18. I did hear most of the ninth inning in the car, but I have to go back and find out how the seventh inning fizzled.
  19. The tarp's being pulled with one out in the seventh and the bases loaded with Brewers. Craig is voicing his displeasure to the ump.
  20. Here's what you likely read. In the context of keeping players with significant control, I don't think the comments are a surprise. Full article (3 July 2016): NL Notes: D-backs, Brewers, Marlins, Nats
  21. For the past few days, Time Warner has assigned me an IP in the Fremont, CA area despite the fact that I'm in Wisconsin. On one hand, I don't mind the anonymity. On the other hand, when I want to find nearby businesses, I get information on businesses in California. I could likely get around that by enabling Location Services for my web browsers, but I don't feel inclined to do that. I have Location Services restricted to Maps and the weather, and they find me accurately.
  22. Brian and Bill claim that the game could have been started on time and that everyone was waiting for rain that didn't happen.
