  1. My recommendation would be the Loge Infield. I've found that the closer you can get to home plate, the less likely you are to have your view blocked by fans who need to get up for food or potty stops during a Brewer at bat with the bases loaded and two out. I'm not saying the fans are better in the Loge Infield. Closer to home plate, you're not as likely to be blocked by inconsiderate fans in other sections; fans in your own section will be the only issue. If you choose the outfield, I prefer the view in right field vs. left field. The seats seem to be angled more appropriately.
  2. great article on yahoo.. This one? Sabathia bidding war about more than money
  3. Karl wasn't among them. Cirillo mentioned Jeff Juden, Phil Nevin and Juan Acevedo.
  4. The Wikipedia information cited by AJhawk50 (reply #23ish) states the rule the way I understand it. The player must be on the 25 man roster or disabled list for a full season, but must be active for at least 90 days. If he doesn't reach 90 days of active duty, during the following season, he must be on the active roster for whatever number of days he's short. It seems that Betit's information is more of an error of omission rather than being fully incorrect.
  5. When the Yankees want a free agent, they're going to make sure that nobody's going to outbid them. The only way they'll be unable to sign a player that they want is if he really doesn't want to play for them.
  6. I probably should have linked to this instead... I'm betting that you edited the lead and that the link was eaten that way. There's a bug involving the convert URLs feature that kicks in when leads are edited. (There was no "edited by Ennder" notation, however, Yuku intentionally gives a two-minute grace period to do edits before slapping one of those onto a post.)
  7. The link in the lead should download now. Once downloaded, you'll need Excel or something compatible to open the file.
  8. I actually didn't realize baseball had a "voluntary retired list." Makes sense, though. So many players are free agents when they retire that you don't hear much about the voluntary retired list anymore. It's for players who retire while still under a team's control. It used to come into play much more often. Nowadays, players who still have a chance to earn money tend to try to earn it.
  9. To check on this, I just texted a friend who's a restaurant manager. If the temperature of uncooked meat is over 40 degrees Fahrenheit for four hours or more, the bacteria level becomes unsafe; and the meat should be tossed.
  10. Here's the full list of 2008-09 Elias player rankings. Also, take a look at this thread: Elias Rankings, maybe. A blogger thinks he may have cracked the mysterious code behind these rankings.
  11. Major League Baseball owns 2/3 of this operation; so I'd assume that at least eventually, there should be pretty decent revenue for the teams. (1/6 of the network, including Extra Innings, is owned by DirecTV. The other 1/6 ownership is split among the various other companies offering MLB Network and Extra Innings.)
  12. Update on the Sears Optical thing. They do intend to replace the last pair of glasses they made for me, although the manager had to go to "higher-ups" to convince the lab that it was their responsibility to do so. I'd expect new glasses sometime next month, meaning that if they get things right this time, it'll have taken 16 months to get a pair of decent glasses from them.
  13. What happened to the "bad driving" thread from several months ago? I did a search for it, but came up empty. Did it get locked? Anyways, I had another to add to the list. Driving Pet Peeves. It's not locked. By the way, for those who might have been discouraged by the Yuku search in the past, the new advanced search works wonders. To narrow a search to show only leads (instead of also including replies), check the "Only show topics" box. A search for "driving" over the past 6 months with "Only show topics" checked makes you read through only 12 links to find the thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Reply #1 in the quote guidelines thread (available at the top of most board pages), shows some screen captures of how to edit quotes in the WYSIWYG editor.
  15. Your Yuku profile is good for all Yuku boards. However, many boards, including Brewerfan and LambeauLeap, screen members before allowing them to post. Here at Brewerfan, admins are pretty picky when admitting new members. At LambeauLeap, the main function of screening members is troll control. As LL admins tend to "know" just about everyone who applies over there, approval is generally a "rubber stamp" thing.

  18. You seem a little too good at that. Wow, what's your real name? Hitler? I believe if you ask the folks on the brewers.com board, Brian's Hitler. B19 is ponytail boy, or something like that. It's been awhile since that little diss-war, though, so I could be remembering it wrong.Hitler comes from a former member from across the Pacific. Ponytail comes from a former member who expressed his displeasure on brewers.com. All of the mods and staff are fat. We're also all "LADIES!!!!!!!" (All caps and extra punctuation are necessary.) Since this thread is here, I may as well murder the quote guidelines. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Do they resize everything, or do they just resize 4:3 material to fill a 16:9 screen?
  20. Some members may not have been able to visit the JSOnline page in the lead because the link was busted. It's fixed now. There's a bug involving Yuku's Convert URLs feature that only kicks in when editing a lead post. The best workaround is to use links that include text; they're unaffected by the bug. The secondary solution is to redo any links in the lead with each edit. Replies are unaffected. Neither are unedited leads.
  21. Brenly was a catcher. It wouldn't be a stretch to consider him for the bullpen job. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Steve, I understand that your main point is that Trenni is awful. But in the process of ranting, you forgot to support that point. How is Trenni awful?
  23. To be on the safe side of the rules, I pulled the politically oriented video out of the lead.
  24. Per the Cot's link in reply #10, Bedard finished the season one day short of being eligible for free agency. (The information on that site isn't updated for this year yet.)
  25. Keep him at all costs for some reason I can't think of. The reason in the back of my mind is that the Brewers view Dale as a good teacher. We're not necessarily in the position to evaluate his teaching abilities, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that he's a fully capable instructor.
