  1. Alex is out of options and was outrighted twice last year. I suppose he could accept another outright, but I think he'd either be released or elect free agency.
  2. And how long before the posters show up saying he's too short and doesn't throw hard enough to be successful? I would think that ship has sailed. At this point, I'd be wondering about opponents "figuring him out" or thinking about the kinds of numbers that homer brought up.

  4. I don't recall the Brewers ever starting a draft pick above A ball. Rob Ellis started out in the majors in 1971.
  5. Ray's going to be starting out at Brevard County.
  6. I think they're OK if Conforto doesn't go on the disabled list. If a DL stay becomes necessary, they might have to rescind the demotion and put him on the Major League club's list.
  7. His name takes up a lot of space on the standard jerseys too. Maybe he should use "Kirk N."
  8. The only thing I like is the size of the lettering. You can actually read player names from the Loge level. Otherwise, the front is too bare, the color is odd, and the style of the lettering is off.
  9. Here's the McCalvy article: http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/186094270/brewers-finalize-deal-with-corey-ray He's going to do a press conference and batting practice to coincide with today's game.

  11. When I think of trading Aaron Hill, I think of the time the Brewers traded for Jerry Hairston Jr. The Brewers didn't give up much to get him (Erik Komatsu). But it seems that contending teams are giving up more these days in order to shore themselves up for the stretch.
  12. I think the fact that Kissimmee is inland helps considerably.
  13. When it rains hard, drivers need to slow down. I was driving from suburban Chicago to Milwaukee Wednesday night. Between O'Hare and somewhere south of Gurnee, it was raining really, really hard. Most vehicles were traveling as if there wasn't any rain at all, well over 70mph. I finally found a group of cars that was moving at about 55mph, so I drove with them. 45–50 would have been better, and I would have been fine if the 85th percentile speed were even less than that. But whatever. The bottom line is that one's speed should be proportional to visibility. When you can't see, you need to slow down. I'd rather take a little longer to reach my destination safely than risk not getting there at all.

  16. BA and I have different definitions of "hit hard."
  17. If they'd have said they were skipping Chase because his last two starts were shaky sucked, that would made sense. I didn't hear the report, so I don't know if "young" was the reporter's word or if it came from the team. I don't think Davies really needs to skip a start. He'd be on an innings limit, but he seems to be on a pace to reach that limit without exceeding it.
  18. I'd dispute "young," but it makes sense to skip someone with three of eight days off.
  19. The statement in question isn't racist for reasons that others have pointed out. Cuba is a mixed race society, much like the US. The majority of its people are white. Significant minorities are African, native, and mixed race. And a small minority is Asian. Some might see the statement as bigoted. But I'd simply call it a faulty generalization that reilly effectively debunked. Please be aware that we're teetering around the boundaries of some of the guidelines in Fan Forum Etiquette. 21. The Mets would be foolish not to trade one of their starters for a legitimate offensive upgrade. That hitter helps the team everyday, one starter helps once every five days. I don't remember the data used to demonstrate this anymore, but apparently, a starting pitcher who goes 200 innings offers a slightly larger contribution than an everyday offensive player.
  22. Junior is 31. I doubt that we'd have to worry too much about an innings limit. The concern is generally for pitchers who are 26 or younger. Up until about age 25, players are still developing physically.
