  1. Let's have this discussion in the Ned Yost Yay or Nay thread that's in the Designated Threads List. Alternatively, the Yost tag lists threads discussing specific topics related to Brewer managerial issues.
  2. I think the money being thrown around a big part of it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It's expensive to develop a blue chip prospect and it's expensive to replace injured major leaguers. There was a wonderful set of three articles posted on this subject about three years ago. It's driving me nuts that I haven't been able to find them for a while. They were probably on either Hardball Times or Baseball Prospectus. The upshot was that after age 25, injury worries are significantly less. It must have something to do with players' bodies still developing before that age.
  3. I've re-written the Usability FAQ to include a lot of Yuku additions. At the bottom, I've designated threads for signature and avatar issues. Feel free to start new threads for topics you feel should be discussed separately. This thread can be used for any catch-all stuff. The / / [code] stuff above isn't yet included in the FAQ. I'll add it when we can land on the "best" way to do that. The pretty chart issue is certainly worthy of it's own thread. But if anyone wants to continue the discussion here, that's fine, too. I went through this forum and locked a bunch of obsolete ezBoard-related threads that might pop up if people did searches for common forum-related issues. Because I didn't want to bump those old threads, I didn't leave individual lock messages.
  4. Please use this thread for questions about Yuku signature issues. From the Usability FAQ: How do I add a signature? Yuku allows members to have five signatures. To create a signature or change signature preferences: Click on the Navigation button at upper right of corner of any Yuku page. Click on the Edit Signature link on the left-hand side of the controls that appear. On the page that loads, you may: [li]Edit or delete current signatures by hitting buttons in the Action column. Choose a Default signature by hitting the appropriate radio button in the Default column. Add a signature by hitting the add signature » button underneath the signature list. [/li] Click the "SAVE" button when you're done. How do I make my signature conform to site guidelines? Please note Brewerfan's signature rules:
  5. (Nudge) We're talking about innings limits in at least two threads: Gallardo and limiting his innings What happened to Parra? I think we can stick to the topic of Ben's blister in this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. The issue is that a few weeks ago, WMLW games for viewers outside Milwaukee moved away from DirecTV's normal FOX-WI channel. Until tonight, they've been on Channel 658, but tonight, the program guide says there's an FIBA basketball game. Now I see the game has popped up in the program guide for channel 642, the normal FSN location. That wasn't the case a couple hours ago. Hopefully, the program guide is correct.
  7. I think a huge contributing factor toward Neugebauer's demise was that the Brewers let him pitch when he was less than 100% healthy.
  8. Has anyone figured out how to find this game on DirecTV tonight? If we can determine which channel is giving us the game, I'll add it to the post title. EDIT: it looks like the game is in it's usual spot: channel 642 for viewers outside the Milwaukee area.
  9. Patrick425, there's some good background information in this thread: Gallardo and limiting his innings
  10. The Johnny Estrada interview on tonight's pregame show was cool, but I'm not happy because I missed something he said that I felt might have been important because FOX chose to play music in the background. Music accompanying interviews is simply unnecessary.
  11. Well, AJAY, they've been pimping weight loss surgery quite a bit on recent telecasts. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Food for me? Nachos Grande at just about every game plus a brat & stadium sauce at at least some games. Also, peanuts--carried in.
  12. I have issues with the lead post in this thread, too. But, please, rather than attacking the member who started this thread, let's attempt to address the issue at hand: that would be Geoff Jenkins' recent performance.
  13. All I know is that the admobile web page starts playing music when I visit it. I hate that. I hope the trucks don't play music, too. I'd have to assume that the trucks carry something and probably belong to people in the cargo business.
  14. My every year or two estimate appears to be way off. A quick run-through at Baseball-Reference.com comes up with this list of position pitchers who pitched for the Brewers: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Trent Durrington</span> 2004 1 game 1/3 inning 0 earned runs <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mark Loretta</span> 2001 1 game 1 inning 0 earned runs <span style="font-weight: bold;">Rick Dempsey</span> 1991 2 games 2 innings 1 earned run <span style="font-weight: bold;">Terry Francona</span> 1989 1 game 1 inning 0 earned runs <span style="font-weight: bold;">Sal Bando</span> 1979 1 game 3 innings 2 earned runs <span style="font-weight: bold;">Buck Martinez</span> 1979 1 game 1 inning 1 earned run <span style="font-weight: bold;">Jim Gantner</span> 1979 1 game 1 inning 1 earned run I easily could have missed somebody, but Surhoff never pitched.

  16. A team is faced with having a position player pitch every year or two. Either the bullpen is exhausted, the team's being blown out, or both. I don't recall the last Brewer position player to pitch, but I'm sure someone will immediately remember.
  17. Brewerfan's message board font sizes are set up to be based on your browser's defaults. That gives users a lot of flexibility. You can change your browser's default font size in your its preferences/options panel. You didn't mention which browser was causing an issue for you, so I'll give one example: in Firefox, you can change your default font size by hitting the Content tab in the preferences/options. If this has happened suddenly, you might want to try dumping your browser's cache. Kristin was doing some experimenting with the skin yesterday, so it's possible you may have cached a previous style sheet. Things have since been restored to the 'pre-experiment' state.
  18. So much the better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. It would seem to be pretty anecdotal on our end, but I'd hope teams would be keeping track of bullpen warmup pitches.
  20. It's fixed, but you have to clear your cache to get the previous editor out of your system. (Safari menu >> Empty Cache...) By the way, I'm posting this is Safari.
  21. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/hausman.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/galasso.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/ddarwin.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/hamilton18.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/brunansky.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/dunn.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/greene.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/jhernandez.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/helms.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/countdown%20thread/gross.jpg
  22. You can see by Kristin's five edits in the post above that we're not crazy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif She found 'pretty charts' to be a challenge, too. She sent this as part of a PM this afternoon: My suggestion is to paste xx into the HTML view, go back to the WYSIWYG view (normal editing), then replace the xx with whatever you'd like to post. If anyone can come up with anything they feel works better, certainly share your success story.
  23. mothership's description (as long as there's room on the actual road) coincides with my understanding. A small added lane to the right would be part of the actual road. A friend of mine who was compelled to attend 'traffic school' said lesson #1 was "How to avoid tickets". Going around traffic on the shoulder was example #1 in that lesson.
