  1. I can't comment on radiology/x-rays because I've never run into that, but the other charges seem in line. I've taken my dog to two vets. One charges around $40 for an office visit. The other charges $12, but adds on for stuff that the other vet will include in the $40. Horse apiece, I guess. Metacam is expensive. I pay $87 for 100 ml. That's better than $43 for about a third of that amount. $18 would seem right in line for 15 ml. 100 ml covers my German Shepherd mix for 54 days. With a small dog, of course, you don't need as much. I think the issue is more breed vs. breed than large vs. small. In this case, I think it was simply an accident that could have happened to any pet, regardless of breed or size. It looks to me that danzig6767 did his homework, which is the most important thing. You'll know what you're going to be up against. For instance, my friend's getting a Papillon after having Miniature Pinschers. No sweat if the mini-pins jump from fairly significant heights, for instance. With the Papillon, that's less likely to be the case. On the other hand, the Papillon sounds like it'll be much easier to train. With large breeds, you can bet on experiencing hip and joint issues at some point. With my Shepherd mix being a few weeks shy of 15, I'm experiencing that right now. danzig6767, I wasn't questioning the use of the leash; I was simply saying that leather is the nicest option. Nylon can burn your hands, for instance, and tangles easier. While I'm thinking of it and just in case you consider buying one: retractable leashes can be great, but they have to be very carefully handled. There was a report a few months ago of a person actually losing part of a finger because of one of those things. If a person can lose a finger, obviously, you also have to be watching your pet carefully. The big rule is that children shouldn't be allowed to handle those things. The second rule is that teenagers and adults should be fully aware of the directions and warnings on the package. One potential cost-saver: if your dog is ever prescribed human medication (Metacam isn't), you may save by taking the prescription to your local pharmacist.
  2. I think that given Tyson was having obvious pain an hour and a half later, you did the right thing by hauling him in. Even though the vet found nothing, the medication is going to make him more comfortable. Some of the other stuff you'll eventually experience, such as diarrhea or vomiting, can probably wait 24 hours. You might want to consult the vet over the phone, though. If he's not inclined to chew it, you might want to consider a leather leash. Besides being less apt to tangle, it's really easy on the hands. Out of curiosity, what parts of the bill were most expensive?
  3. I don't think bleach is caustic when used properly. Now, if you're using antibacterial soap, that's not good. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I digress. Vent away?
  4. Well, the Germans may have bombed Pearl Harbor, but we beat them at Iwo Jima and ended up winning the war. endaround makes a good point when he says, "The Crew just won two series. THEY JUST WON TWO SERIES." This isn't a three hour tour... a three hour tour. It's an around-the-world cruise. By the way, welcome to the forum, panicking little girly man! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (Kidding, of course, with the 'girly man' thing, but not about the welcome, though. Glad to have you aboard.)
  5. I think it's apparent that Ned's managing of pitchers wasn't what Bayless was talking about.
  6. It sounds like Ned is going to deal with Barry the way he always has: not fearing the solo home run. That's a much better tack than one of the mangers (Brenly?) used a few years ago, walking Bonds in practically AB and getting 'bit in the butt' multiple times when one of his teammates would drive him in.
  7. Just to be fair, another thing Ann was good at was taking one syllable words and stretching them out for two or three seconds. She was especially good at doing this with important words like "and" and "so". One of my favorite Ann Carroll moments was when she stared at Josh Barfield's name in her notes, which apparently just said "J. Barfield". She didn't quite know what to do, so she finally just read what was on her piece of paper: "J. Barfield".
  8. If you want your password to really be safe, combine two players and their uniform numbers. And capitalize something in the middle of the names. I'd vote for Weeks & Spurling. You might not want to tell us who you chose until the next 60 days are up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Interesting that Ann was only considered temporary in the first place. The only thing she did well was interviews. Aside from that, well?
  10. Let's use this thread: ESPN Home Run chase TV coverage. Feel free to copy and paste your posts. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Joey, probably before you joined, we had a long "Are you a pee talker?" thread right here in Off Topic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But I digress. I remember bumping into both Wendy and Ulice several times apiece during their tenure.
  12. I think the fact that Apple has released Safari for Windows is one of the better things to happen to the Internet in recent years.
  13. sweepscc, when I look at JJ, I think it's apparent that he's been hitting the weights and working out a lot. However, adjusting his program to address stamina (in addition to or rather than bulk) might be in order. I'm not sure that conditioning is necessarily an issue, though. Mental exhaustion can cause physical exhaustion. I remember taking a tour of the pyramids north of Mexico City. The 'vote' was that the tour would be conducted in Spanish. I listened?hard?and 'got' most of it. But I was physically exhausted after doing it and slept during the entire ride back to town.
  14. Exactly. I alluded to that in the Wise thread. The example I used was that if he was pitching so brilliantly that he he could pull off of 90 pitch complete game, there shouldn't be an issue. Not all pitch counts and innings are created equal. A couple years ago, for instance, batman pointed out that pitching from the stretch is tougher on the arm than pitching from a windup. I remember Ned commenting on that when he was first hired. At the time, he noted that that information was relatively 'new' to him. But at any rate, I'm glad that's something he keeps in mind. As far as rotating the young'uns, you'd probably be working with a TBA situation. It wouldn't be ideal, but it'd probably be workable on occasion.
  15. Geno, I'd consider 90% of ESPN's schedule to be bumpable. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Heck, I'd bump Sunday's auto race on the main channel, but I wouldn't do it without hiring some armed body guards first. Like others, I don't think they'd be able to do any drastic time change with this kind of short notice. I think the most they could possibly do is bump the start back a few minutes to accommodate a pregame show.
  16. Just to enlighten someone who's out of the loop, what exactly do people do on MySpace? I know my neighbors forbid their high school daughter from going there. I understand that rationale, of course; they feel she'll be too trusting and give out personal information. I guess I've looked at about 10 pages, including my neighbors' college age son's and maybe a few I've seen in message board posts. Usually, pages on that site are so loaded with images I don't want to bother to load that I 'click out' before I see everything.
  17. I believe there's something in ESPN's contract with MLB that would allow them to broadcast the game Sunday afternoon if they wanted to. It looks like there's bumpable stuff on ESPN2's schedule.
  18. Dear Tim Kurkjian, Hank Aaron hit 22 home runs as a Brewer, not 10. 1992casey
  19. I think if Yo had a game that escalated into the "super-brilliant" range?90 pitches over 9 innings, for instance, the braintrust would see that as fine.
  20. The DirecTV "Jump for Joy" commercial. I seriously hope subscribers are the only ones subjected to that.
  21. Just guessing some more, but I'd imagine the Brewers feel that Manny is there if he's needed, and so far they've gotten around needing him. I think the Brewers have made it pretty clear that Yo will be handled with care, even with the Sheets injury. Certainly, plans for the way he's going to be used in over the next few weeks have probably changed, but note that he was pulled after 6 innings and 89 pitches today. I remember Ned talking about 110 pitches being the approximate limit for Yo's first game. Today they got a 21 pitch bonus. A lot of potential scenarios have been discussed in the Sheets, Spurling, Balfour, Parra and Gallardo and limiting his innings threads. If you haven't visited them, you might want to take a peek. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Just guessing: Matt doesn't pitch on consecutive days, but apparently there isn't a concern about him going multiple innings. Based on other discussion on this forum, Parra probably has pretty tight innings limit over the rest of the season, probably significantly tighter than Gallardo.
