  1. And some of us are baffled that what you’ve watched the last 2-3 months hasn’t told you that this just might not be the team to go after it with. Being 2 games back, while nice, might as well be 10 with this team the way they’re playing right now. They might just not be very good. Realizing you have problems is usually the first step... They are 6-4 in their last 10, including 2-3 from the Braves and 3 of 4 IN Arizona. Yes, they lost 2-3 at home to the Reds, but the Reds own the Cubs too. But regardless, they have a chance to sweep the cubs this weekend, then what?? Yes, the Cards are tied with them, so what?? Now they actually have to start playing real baseball teams (Oak, Cubs, Houston, LA), so they will fade.

Did ANYONE see coming what the Giants have done lately?? If you say you have, you are not being truthful. They aren't very good at all and yet, what have they done recently?? It happens ALL the time in baseball. What happens if the Brewers win say 5 or 6 in a row?? Can't say they won't, all it takes is a break here or there and boom..5 game winning streak.
  3. I simply can't believe all the people that are willing to just give up on this year and trade Moose and Grandal. That baffles me..They are 2 games back...2! They sweep the Cubs this weekend and suddenly they lead the division..It can change just that quickly.
  4. And with that being said, they could very easily win 2-3 or even sweep the Cubs and suddenly be in 1st place. Would that then change your perspective??
  5. This I agree with 100%...if you are going to buy, you must buy big, otherwise, what's the point?? Might as well just stand pat then. Not necessarily. Buying big means acquiring players with multiple years of control. A couple of Swarzak/Cedeno bullpen types who are impending free agents will not cost valuable prospects and can help with a playoff push. Same with selling - they don't have to sell big. They can just sell impending free agents (Grandal, Moustakas) and look to the offseason to improve the ballclub to compete in 2020. I don't necessarily think "buying big" means acquiring players with multiple years of control. I think it means different things to different people. To me, "buying big" means, buying more than one player that is a needle mover for THIS year. For example(and this is MERELY an example), you go get say two starters(let's just say Wheeler and Stroman), and two needle moving bullpen arms like say Will Smith and Jake Diekman. That's buying "big" to me, because it's multiple impact players to get them there this year, and not much control with any of them. Big to me is both in quantity and quality, I don't consider the control remaining in that equation, because I personally look at things a year at a time, I worry about next year when it gets here. Just the way I have always looked at things with my sports teams.
  6. Salami honeymoon was sure short. Well, CC is going a bit overboard with him. The two grand slams were an awesome thing, but this is not a guy who should ever under any circumstance be in the starting lineup 5 straight days. And Arcia should be??

  8. Well, he let our arguably best starter walk and sign for basically nothing, all to experiment with 3/5 of the starting rotation being unproven... when we were one game away from the World Series last year. Yup...THIS was absolutely the death knell...letting it roll with three unproven, young starters. Anyone that wasn't concerned about that to start the year, just had their head in the sand. I told everyone I felt like it would backfire..you just CANNOT do that and expect to be legitimate contenders. Stearns's absolutely worst decision to date IMO. he missed badly on that one. What the hell was he thinking?? Combine that with the fact when Knebel went down, he did NOTHING to try to fix that either.
  9. That's because they got to play the Reds and Pirates(twice) coming out of the All Star break..they will return to earth in their next couple series against the Astros and Dodgers.
  10. Just remember, the tweet specifically says, it would have to be for someone that would help the Brewers RIGHT now, so if you are going to come up with trade ideas, you should probably look at their major league club, or a top end prospect of theirs that may be blocked by someone that could play for the Brewers tomorrow.
  11. Don't want to derail the in game thread but this just got tweeted and thought it was interesting.. Mark Feinsand @Feinsand · 8m Sources tell me and @juanctoribio that the Rays have expressed interest to the Brewers in Jesus Aguilar. He’s performed better in July (1.080 OPS) than the first three months (.634 OPS), so deal would have to help Milwaukee now for Brewers to move Aguilar.

  13. Team wins 2-3 vs Atlanta, then 3-4 vs Arizona, right after Stearns proclaimed how big the next two weeks were...so what do they do?? Suffer a gut punch loss last night, and fall down 4-0 before they even hit, at home to a last place team. Well done crew
  14. Perfect example...had him 0-2...then the count goes 3-2..then...gone.
  15. This is why I'm not a big fan of Davies...because he can't miss bats, he goes deep into counts almost constantly...nibble...nibble..nibble.
  16. This is exactly the opposite of what a small market team needs to do to be successful. You have to know when to hold em and so forth. Honestly Brewcrewin07, does this TRULY feel like a hold 'em year to you? With Woodruff's injury and the hot mess much of the staff is, even if they are in contention in September, they seem destined to be a "fart in the wind", as Ron Wolf so eloquently put it. Going all in this year feels like doing so with a pair of 9's. Could it work out? Sure. Is it more likely you get burned? Probably. Peavey...we have all been around long enough to know baseball is a crazy game...long winning streaks can propel a team very quickly. Exhibit A..look what the Giants are doing currently. There is NO way anyone would say they are a better baseball team then the Brewers. That's just one example...baseball history is littered with teams that go on unexpected runs. Most people would say, okay even if they make the playoffs, they will never make it past the Dodgers..All you have to do is win 4 games...and ANYTHING can happen and has happened. I'm willing to take that chance simply because no one can guarantee me that the Brewers will EVER be in a position again like they were last year and this year(the yare still very much in it). To me, you always take the known over the unknown. Is it a guarantee the Brewers will make the playoffs, even with adding some players?? No..but what we do know RIGHT now is they are 2 games out of 1st place and it's July 23rd. On July 23rd 2020, or 2021 or even 2030, how do we know they will have a chance like this again?? They are talented enough, even without Woodruff, make a couple acquisitions(that move the needle) and I will more than take my chances they make the playoffs. Heck will I be able to say that again in my lifetime?? Maybe/probably but who knows when?? If I had guarantees, they would be in WS contention for the next three-5 years I'd say absolutely hold or maybe even sell a piece or two, but NO ONE can guarantee me that.
  17. I just don't get all you people wanting to sell or stand pat. You all do realize they are only two games out of first right?? I mean, it's not likely, but let's say things fall their way the rest of this week(win last two from Cincy Cubs lose last two vs Giants and Crew sweeps the Cubs)...just like that you turned a two game division deficit into a 3 game lead. This isn't a team that is 6-7 games out people...c'mon. Stranger things...much starnger things that that have happened in baseball. As far as emptying the farm, who really cares?? it's what small market teams have to do to compete during their window...no one can guarantee me restocking the farm will do anything for them. They could do that and still go another 10 years without making the playoffs. Then was it worth it?? Name me the LAST small market team that has been a legit playoff contender every year?? That doesn't exist..it just doesn't happen. As long as Yelich is here and under control they HAVE to do what they can to make the playoffs/win a world series now. You can't count on the future for anything.
  18. What if those prospects don't work out?? Then what??
  19. I do NOT like the fact that there have been rumors out there about just about every team looking at so and so recently, EXCEPT nothing on the Brewers..Getting a bad vibe DS may not do anything but something small...if that's the case, why bother?? It's not going to move the needle.
  20. The trade of Babe Ruth to the Yankees says 'hello'. Considering you're not even saying that a specific trade would be the dumbest move in the history of baseball, but ANY trade including those players would be the dumbest move in the history of baseball is really not a particularly informed post. I'll take Fernando Tatis, Chris Paddack, Francisco Mejia and Mackenzie Gore for Hader. Or Yelich. That would be an unrealistic, lopsided trade (THIS YEAR). One Year ago that would have been 4 prospects. Shrug. You're crazy...that kind of an offer gets them hung up on by me for either one of those guys. Not to mention if Stearns traded either one of them before their final year, the fans would run him out of town with pitchforks. He would be the most hated man in Wisconsin sports history...guaranteed.
  21. I will never get the love and absolute fascination so many here have for "prospects". Again, that's ALL they are...It maddens me to think so many want to stake the Brewers future on prospects that may or may not amount to anything. When possible, you ALWAYS acquire proven major league ready talent. If it costs you the entire farm but sets up your team for the next couple of years(like dealing for Thor and his control), then you absolutely 10000% do it. No questions asked. Also, I get tired of hearing the "moose and Grandal won't be here next year" mantra. NO ONE knows that. No one knows what Stearns and Mark A are thinking or have discussed internally. Maybe they are both back(I think it's possible), maybe one is and one isn't, maybe neither of them are, but to state it as 100% fact that they won't be really wrankles me. You have ZERO proof of that, don't state it factually until it is a fact.
  22. And of course the won(a game they shouldn't have, Pirates blew it in the 9th with two boneheaded mistakes), and looks like the Cubs will suck another one out. I'm sorry guys, but this game REALLY pisses me off. I haven't been this mad about a Brewers game in I don't know how long...Counsell CANNOT make that mistake in a spot that big after they got all the momentum. Tying run on or not, you put Suarez on. If Van meter beats me, fine. But i'm not letting Suarez do it. CC did, and he's an idiot.
  23. The panzy ass writers for this team will never ask CC any tough questions tonight. Total crap, Counsell may have just blew this entire season. I want to hear his lame ass reason for pitching ot Suarez, and i want him to be taken to task by one of the reporters.
  24. CC will say he was 0-10 against him prior to that AB and he "felt good" about JJ there. You're an idiot Craig..an absolute freaking idiot.
  25. He should have never been put in that spot. It was his idiot Manager's fault. The heat of a pennant race and Counsell makes that terrible of a decision?? Really?? Honestly, if I'm Stearns and Mark A, I call him in my office tomorrow and ask him what the hell he was thinking. Just absolutely f'n terrible.
